Yesterday was my second visit to The Smile Center for teeth cleaning. During my appointment, April 30, the dental Hygienist indicated that she would like to have the dentist take a look at one of my teeth. I don't remember which came to look at the my teeth but he was very detailed about what he saw and what needed to be done. "Your filling is pulling away from the tooth but it is shallow enough that it won't be an intense removal and refilling." It was true, one bit of novacaine (?) and a bit of drilling, and finally to the re-filling of the tooth. "Easy, Peasy, Lemon Squeeze". read more

We are relatively new to this office. My husband cracked his tooth and I called for an appointment. They had one for the next day, but he could not make it. They don't work Saturday or Sunday and they were booked. She was a snot. "if you can't take the appintment tomorrow, it's not an emergency." My reponse "He is not in pain, so it is not an emergency, but it should be looked at before he is in pain, and now you saying you have not time this week, or next, maybe the next? I Had my bi annual cleaning today and as always the service and personnel are exceptional. I got lucky enough today to get my teeth examined and cleaned by Dr. Hua. He is thorough professional, and best of all kind and gentle with my teeth. He also bonded my front teeth from cracks and it looks awesome now. Since being a patient at The Smile Center I no longer have anxieties going to the dentist because the environment and the staff (dentists , dental assistants ,receptionists are not only top notch in their skill but they also make you feel relaxed , comfortable, and reassured . I usually don't write reviews, but Dr. Brian Hua at The Smile Center absolutely deserves one. He's one of those rare dentists who makes you feel like more than just a patient. He's incredibly kind, patient, and down-to-earth, and he has a way of explaining things that makes you feel completely comfortable and informed. What really stood out to me is how thorough and detail-oriented he is without ever making the experience stressful. You can tell he truly cares about your comfort and long-term health, not just getting the appointment over with. On top of that, his positive and easygoing personality makes visits something I actually look forward to--which is saying a lot for the dentist! The entire team deserves credit too. The visit was a cake walk all due thank you the dentist assistant Adriana. She was so warm and friendly it made my anxieties about the appointment completely dissipate. My family and I have been coming to Dr. Kim's office for years now, and, after all these years, I can honestly say they are the best! We have always been greeted by their friendly front office staff, Sylvia and most recently, Isabel too. We first started going to Dr. Kim's San Francisco office and later transferred to their newer facility in San Mateo. From the moment you walk in, you are treated with kindness, respect, and professionalism. Sylvia and Isabel always greet you warmly and have a way of easing any nerves. While not everyone feels anxious about dental visits, for those who do, this extra care can really make a difference when choosing a dentist. The entire staff makes even the most nervous visits feel easy, and I have always felt like my dental health is truly a priority for them. My family has used all services available, from preventive, restorative to their specialty services such as braces and Invisalign. Their office also provides whitening services which is a plus! Dr. Kim has always taken his time to explain everything and makes sure you feel completely comfortable. What I appreciate the most is their consistency. Year after year, their quality of care remains excellent and, if anything, Dr. Kim only continues to stay ahead with the latest in dental care. I just wrote a review for their sister location in San Mateo and figured I should write about my similar experiences here: I'm so glad I found this clinic!! I see Dr. Kim and he is great both in his main work as a dentist and in his communication with patients. He's efficient and tells me exactly what I need to do (or not do) to keep my teeth and gums healthy, and also shares a sense of humor that feels very down to earth. The dental hygienists and assistants are also great and quick in their work without skipping on any care. The name of my usual dental assistant is escaping me but she is kind and relatable in our conversations. Even the reception here is great - Raquel and Sylvia are fantastic and have provided EASILY the highest quality office experience I've ever had with a dental clinic. At all the clinics I went to in the past, asking for a quote and insurance check felt like pulling teeth (pun intended), so it's a breath of fresh air to have it all laid out transparently. They also seem to genuinely care about patients. I think one of the biggest green flags was when Raquel called to inform me about a billing misunderstanding and provided a timeline for it to be rectified - it really communicated the transparency of all the staff here. It has been close to 4 years coming to this clinic, and I've never felt like I needed to look elsewhere. My dental health has improved a ton and so has my confidence in my smile. read more

I went to Smile Center for my grandson he was 3 at our first visit and was anxious and scared. The staff was so welcoming in reception they took our insurance information and asked if we had any questions about our coverage. We were called back into the room by the assistant named Karen she was very friendly and was trying to soothe our grandson because he did not want to sit down so she brought out a dinosaur for him to play and demonstrate how he brushes Karen was so patient with him and made him comfortable and then went to get Dr.Sabin. Dr. Sabin made it fun while she counted his teeth she was kind and had incredible patience with him. She also was informative of what we could do as grandparents to show our grandson to take care of his teeth. Two days after our visit my grandson fell and his tooth was bleeding. Smile Center was able to book me an urgent visit we were sad we didn't get to see Karen again but the other assistant I believe her name is Karla did a wonderful job she told us he needed X-rays and I didn't think he would sit for that but the assistant worked so well with him and somehow managed to get the x ray. For this visit he saw Dr. Kim who made both my grandson and I comfortable he took his time with him and explained that there was a crack in the tooth and that he may lose it. Smile Center is a wonderful office with very well trained staff. The doctors do not make you feel rushed although they see a lot of patients. read more

I'm gonna keep it real with you guys. My teeth are fucked up and I was looking through my insurance directory for a new dentist because the old one was Hella rude. I stumbled across here and I set up my appointment. If I had any questions, they were happy to answer it when I came into the office there were welcoming and nice and sweet. I gave them full transparency of what I was dealing with and I wanted to get better with my oral health. They understood they were polite. They explained to me what my plan was short term and long term, and quite frankly really affordable, when you have insurance in my case. You don't know how special it is when you try to better your health, and not have people to judge you, when they are understanding and respectful. I really appreciate that. Had a sub-par experience with my routine cleaning; probably one of the most uncomfortable dentist visits I've had. The hygienist seemed not to notice or care how much water built up in my throat and how much he jabbed my gums with the plaque pick. He had to redo my x-rays multiple times and left the table at one point while I had toothpaste water sitting in my mouth. Flossing was done with maximum aggression and caused my gums to bleed even though I floss consistently myself. Honestly felt like it was his first time doing a cleaning. Don't think I'll be coming back. read more

I had chipped a lower molar and couldn't put off the repair any longer. My regular dentist, whom I do really like, would have required me to pay for the entire cost of a crown upfront (about $2K) even with Delta Dental insurance. Then I'd have to wait to get reimbursed from Delta. The Smile Center only required me to pay my portion of the bill upfront, which was about 75% less out of pocket. So initially, I chose this office because of the financial aspect. I also discovered that they can do crowns in one visit, which is a huge plus for people like me who have severe anxiety around medical appointments and want to take care of things as quickly as possible without multiple trips. Aside from the payment structure and the convenience of a 1-day crown, I wasn't sure how things would go because I have severe anxiety when it comes to anything medical. They were completely accommodating and indulged me when I wanted to "wear" their x-ray blanket (as a weighted blanket) while blaring alternative music from my headphones to drown out any drilling noises. Dr. Kim told me when to keep my eyes closed with their borrowed sunglasses on so I wouldn't see any needles and the assistant graciously let me clench her gloved hand without complaint. The whole process was quicker than I expected and it was so nice to go home that day knowing I was done in one visit. And, my crown fits perfectly. I know there will be more dental work in my future, and I will go to this office again without hesitation. They made me confident that I could go through this procedure again. read more

I deal with the front desk each time I visit and the dentist only once a year. The hygienist, I believe her name is Jane, is very thorough and gentle and gives me helpful tips to improve my dental care at home. Above and beyond excellent! I can't say enough, really a hidden gem in SF. You're properly cared for from beginning to end. You're greeted by Sylvia or Raquel often with a warm smile. Appointments run on time, you're properly notified in advance of upcoming appointment. Establishment is clean, organized a plus for a dental office, especially in SF. Sylvia and Raquel are top notch front office administrators. They have their skill set honed in. They're very helpful in helping you find the best service. My hygenist Jane is the best I've had. Great bed side manners. Kind, gently and very thorough. She's provided helpful tips and advice to help me with my dental regimen. She really cares. I HATE getting my teeth cleaned but this office is filled with so many smiling faces and good energy that I LOVE coming here! The ladies at the front desk Sylvia & Raquel are always smiling and the MOST absolute sweethearts!! I've been a patient of Dr. Kim for I would say about 4 years now. I originally found The Smile Center shortly after moving to San Francisco when I had a dental emergency. I was calling around to dentists in my neighborhood and just all over SF, nobody was able to see me for weeks, but when I called Smile Center they were so kind and caring they squeezed me in that same day to help me out. Sylvia, the office manager, is such a joy to speak with whenever I am in the office. Sylvia helped find me an oral surgeon almost diagonally across the street from their office when I needed to get my wisdom teeth removed. I recently just had a checkup and had to get 2 cavities filled, and though getting dental work done isn't a joy for anybody, Dr. Kim really made me feel at ease and explains everything that he's doing.
