I've finally had it with Lejla, after going and not only being treated disrespectfully but having received the worst haircut of my life. I went in expecting the ususal two barbers, one elder russian man and woman, but this time, they seem to have hired a new staffer, a young russian guy, perhaps a relative. He is a dead ringer for the douche-bags you knew in High school who had no potential, so I assume he needed the job hookup more than they needed an extra pair of hands. Anyways, I brought a picture to show exactly what I wanted, unfortunately, my young "barber" must have paid it a perfunctory glance because he didn't give me anything like what I asked for; in fact, when I returned home, a family member noticed he'd missed a spot, making me realize I'd walked home with a half-rattail. On top of simply butchering my hair, he was overly chatty, about a slew of non-sequitir topics, all of which were really awkward, making me wish he'd shut up and focus on the cut. No luck. The worst came halfway through the cut (which shouldn't have taken more than 20 mins tops regardless): his cell started ringing--and he answered it! Not only that but he distractedly cut my hair and then "asked" me to wait while he -- RAN out of the shop (my head still half chopped) pulling a wad of cash out of his back pocket to pay some guy off (or so I overheard from his cell phone conversation). I waited 10 MINS for him to come back, sloppily finish the cut and have the gall to ask for my payment. I regret stepping foot in the place, much less tipping the guy. NEVER go to Lejla's Salon, no matter how cheap they are. You really get what your $10 pays for.

I realized that she does do haircuts for toddlers as they are sitting down calmly watching shows on a small screen. But when it was my 3-year-old's turn, she panicked because my daughter wouldn't sit still and had started crying when she saw the scissors. She made me feel uncomfortable because she treated us like my daughter's behavior wasn't normal. Then she told us she couldn't do my daughter's hair at all. I give this place some credit because at least she didn't try to do the job when she knew she couldn't handle it. I was upset at her behavior towards my daughter and the fact that she claims to cut kids' hair when she doesn't have the patience or understanding to do so. I hadn't been to a salon in over a year and I was craving a professional's touch. Jai is amazing. She took me as a walk-in even though she was slated to leave soon. She could've turned me away but she didn't. One hour and a cool conversation later, I walked out with my natural hair perfectly straightened and feather-light, AND with a sick trim! Moral: Jai is my new stylist. It has to happen. She has a gentle touch and she's great at what she does.
