This cinema realy hasn't changed much and I think they are due for an overall update. The movie rooms are still kind of small and old. There was a seat that was broken at the back of the row and they had to keep the seat empty at this point. Not sure how they were able to handle with people buying their seat(s) online in advance. The area is a little bit moldy and smelly and is in due for a deep clean. I guess the reason why the cinema is still existent as it is linked to a mall and they get a lot of business because there isn't another cinema nearby. Parking is limited by the cinema entrance. Highly recommend to Just park further to avoid the people exiting once a movie is over. There is an arcade downstairs with games to play an and to kill time before a movie starts. Once the movie is over, can go to TNT aftewards to do some grocery shopping as the supermarket opens late. read more

I haven't been to this theater in so many years. This is located upper level right above playdium - very convenient. I came here on a weekend with my family to watch The Bad Guys 2. They had the promo $5 for a movie ticket and $5 popcorn which was sweet, made it affordable especially when going with family. The seats were quite comfortable. Pretty average theatre, but lots of memories here from in the past. It only has one way to get there from the mall. Gotta get concessions prior to entering the "theatre" section. Think this theatre is due for a seating update to be honest. It's quite dirty in there and the seats are so tightly packed that you can always feel the guy behind you shuffling around. It's an average theatre, but the staff could really boost the place just be cleaning a bit better between movies. It's mega dusty and most the time, the floor and the cup holder are sticky. The staff are friendly enough and the layout of the place is decent. I've never really had any troubles there aside from the dirty theatre and washrooms. Really just an average theatre. I would avoid going here if possible, but sometimes, they offer better movie times than the surrounding theatres. read more

Location: The movie theatre is on the second floor of Fairview Mall. Parking: It's a mall so......yeah a lot of parking. You can also take the subway. Interesting fact. The Leslie Street bus from York region goes to the mall. You only need to pay one fare Getting Tickets: So the box office is on the first floor. Buy tickets ahead of time. They don't care how long the line is for tickets. No additional people get put on. I asked. They normally say they are under staffed but there's usually people just standing around. Theatres: NEVER TURN ON YOUR PHONE LIGHT IN THE THEATRE. You will thank me for that. It's dirty and everything is worn. You will be grossed out. Staff: Pretty nice. Managers responsive. Very dark screens. I think this theatre is one of those places that turns the projector bulb down really low to make it last longer. The screen is really, really dark. I saw Solo and for about half of it, you could only see outlines. read more

They got rid of the box office and replaced it with machines (obvi) and a hidden 'counter assistant' manning the 3rd party popcorn that's being sold in the theatres. Firstly - attitude. Garbage. It's a convenient location because there's lots of free parking at the mall. But I actually don't like this theatre too much because the corridors are so narrow & it usually busy. So that means doding people enroute to where your movie is playing. Also the ladies washroom at the front of the theatre is so small it always has a long lineup. Much faster to go to the washroom way at the back of the theatre. The concession stand is pretty small too. Though these days I never buy food from there coz it's always overpriced & mostly heart attack food. We saw the 3D version of Iron Man 3. Liked the movie. I try not to watch 3D as it always gives me a headache but it was showing at the best time for us. The screening room wasn't crowded which was nice. No noisy teenagers chattering & kicking chairs. We sat at the handicapped ground level because my dad has mobility issues. We all enjoyed the movie though. Everything did start on time. I even won some scene points on timeplay! read more

I came to this Silvercity cinema in Fairview Mall because it was the only nearest cinema showing the movie I planned to watch. However, the ticket counter staff was not as smart and friendly as the staff in Silvercity Richmond Hill. I used my Scene points to redeem two tickets. While I was about to ask her if I could use my point to redeem a popcorn and pop combo. She just did not care nor she did not know, nor did not even hear me but processed only our movie tickets. Ended up, we had to spend another 1000 Scene points for the popcorns and pop combo instead of only 500 Scene points upon redeeming the movie tickets. She was just totally unhelpful and ignorance! This location does not have those crazy 100 flavors of pop to choose from. However, the reclining cinema chairs help achieving one star. read more

Went to watch Everest in 3D on a half price Tuesday. We went to watch the movie a month after release date so I didn't expect a lot of people in the theatre even on a half-price Tuesday.. and I was right. When we came in 15 mins before the scheduled time, there were only 4 other people in the theatre. We were at auditorium 7 which is very small, clean, and has reclinable seats. You can also lift the arm-rests so you can sit up-close with your loved ones. Over-all a good experience. I always take advantage of this theatre being in a mall so to save money, I grab food at the food court before the movie starts. I can't comment on the ticket buying process here, as I have bought my tickets in advance online and already had pre-printed tickets before the show. read more

I prefer the SilverCity in Richmond Hill to this one. The fact that it's in the mall makes it seem like it's smaller and I find that not a lot of the movies I want to see are playing here. The theater we were in was SMALL but the chairs were super comfortable, they lean back like Fat Joe...are they all like this?!?! They don't have a lot of food options and they also don't have that crazy ass Coca Cola 100023894837 fountain drinks fountain thing. You know, the one with 10 different flavors of sprite? Inside a mall and easily accessible from the subway. It has an arcade and games for kids and adults alike. You could spend the morning shopping and catch an afternoon movie which is great. One thing that annoys me is when the mall is closed there is no way to the theatre unless you walk outside all around the mall. Fairview should remove the gates inside so theatre goers can go to from their movie. read more

Went to see Hunger Games - MJ 2 on room 6 yesterday and I gotta say it is one of the dirtiest movie theatres I've ever been to. First we waited in line for about 30 mins. I looked up and saw all the pipes in the ceiling painted black and covered with dust. I'm talking about layers that looked like snow had accumulated from the night before. Then as we walked in the theatre you could see the clouds of dust floating in the air as they reflected on the lights leading you to the seating area. The seats were uncomfortable and very very low. This place needs some serious serious housekeeping. read more

This movie theatre is not the best but it is good enough for me, probably because I don't care for all those cool 100 flavour pop machines and dipping dots shenanigans. When you walk in, there's a frozen yogurt bar where you can get 'pay-by-weight' yogurt. Can't rate on this because I've never had it. I'll stick to menchies or yogurty's. They also serve 'poptopia' pocorn? .. I don't really get this concept but I guess they offer flavoured popcorn if you're not happy with the delicious butter popcorn the concession sells. The staff here are not particularly friendly, all I see are teenagers and young adults that look like they want to end their shift and get the hell out of there. That's cool though, I didn't come here to be treated like a queen. I always get popcorn when I come here (cheat days!), and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact how they have a extra butter machine on the side.. it's kind of bad for me because I put so much more butter on my popcorn that my cholesterol levels must've been more high than a high school kid on 420. Movie seats are nice and clean, and they are more comfy than a lot of theatres I've been into. Perfect because the arm handles can go up and you can sit right next to your friend (or more) comfortably the entire movie. Not much to hate about this theatre, I'll probably be back. Smaller theatre and parking can be more hectic than other theatres as the crazy shopping mall people take up all the parking spaces. Likes: Clean washrooms! Wohoo! Yeah! It's in a mall, so you can do shopping before/after the movie. Dislikes: Hard to find parking during weekend, no 100 drink Coke machine, small arcade. Verdict: Go to the theatres that have their own parking lot so you don't have to battle parking. read more

This theater is in a very central location, close if you're from Toronto , Richmond Hill and Markham. Movie watching experience: The floors of the theater felt super sticky with each step. No issues with the audio/film that day. I liked the fact they had the movie we wanted to watch in non 3d or Avx format, unlike other neighboring Cineplex. The watching movies in the theatre are expensive enough without having to pay up to $10 more for that 'vip' experience. read more

Tip: if you have enough points for a movie ticket, redeem them at VIP Cinemas (ie. Shops at Don Mills VIP). They are worth the same and you get served. Nothing better then getting a pitcher of beer served to you at your comfy reclining chair for the same prices as a general ticket. read more

Went to watch Goosebumps in 3D Dbox. The theatre was clean and the staff seemed friendly. Near the end of the movie, the screen blacked out and an important part to the conclusion of the movie was missed. Some of the guests went outside to tell the staff and they fixed the problem but a critical moment was missed already. There was no explanation as to what happened and it wasn't communicated well that there would be a compensation. The people sitting to the left told me to keep the ticket stub and there would be free tickets. At the end of the movie, there was a bunch of people standing outside the auditorium and they said staff told them to wait there while the manager came with free tickets. Overall, the situation could have been handled better and some people left without receiving their free tickets. Would still come back again in the future for movies since this should be a rare occurrence. read more

This is one of my favourite theaters to head to from my parents' house near Yonge and York Mills. Though Empress Walk and the Sheppard Grande are closer, the free parking at Fairview definitely wins it some points. Add to that the reclining seats, the nice clean washrooms and the friendly staff, I dig. I went to see Harry Potter there this summer on opening day and was impressed by how well organized and how nice the staff were considering the cray-cray. read more

As has become my habit, I will start by saying that I don't get out to the movies much these days, partly because many popular movies don't appeal to me enough to pay $12+ to see them, and also because many of the big newer cinemas are all noise and advertising and video games. With that said, I went last week to the Fairview Mall Cinemas as it was the closest one that had a late-night showing of Spiderman Homecoming. Unfortunately while not being all that new, it was a pretty good example of what I just rambled on about. To start with, I actually had some difficulty getting to it, as I came from the TTC station after the mall was already closed. This might not be an issue for anyone driving thru the parking lot, but I ended up walking halfway around the mall just to find an entrance that was open. I had no trouble buying my ticket at the automated machine, but then was surprised to see people lining up at the cashier since the sign at the entrance said that the box office was closed? As soon as I got upstairs where the cinemas are, that was when I was hit with the blaring music and bank of video screens. While I didn't find that my auditorium was dirty or sticky as I see in other reviews, I must say that the large comfortable-looking seats really weren't that comfortable, and even a little stubborn whenever I tried to change position. The screen at first seemed a little smaller than I expected, but both audio and video were fine once the movie started. Overall, I wasn't that impressed with this cinema; while it wasn't a bad experience, I have done better for the same money with the last few theatres I have visited. Perhaps it just needs a little updating, or perhaps some better oversight. As a nostalgic note, Fairview Mall is where my family went to see the original Star Wars movie when it came out, but a lot has changed since then, starting with the fact that Famous Players is long out-of-business (and then I think it became a Rainbow Cinema before Cineplex came in). read more

We'll start with the good. The chairs are awesome and recline a lot. Everything else is terrible. As soon as we hit the top of the escalator the floors were soooo sticky our shoes would making ripping sounds every step taken. This is not an exaggeration. The girl checking tickets couldn't be bothered with pleasantries and said only "number six". The entire length of the hallway to auditorium six had fruit loop cereal on the carpet. I can't imagine why. When we got into the auditorium the fruit loops were also all over the floor. Apparently sweeping isn't top priority. After the show we got up to put on our coats during the credits and turned around to see a young couple doing some things I'm sure their mothers wouldn't be proud of in the back row. Classy clientele. I think I'll stick to the regular Cineplex up the street from now on. read more

The theatre is located near a mall entrance. There are lots of spaces - but parking near the theatre entrance can be tricky during actual mall hours. Tip: if the lot's full - park past the theatre entrance closer to Forever 21 entrance- it's just a couple of more steps, and leaving the parking lot is much less hectic. Also, like other people mentioned - if your movie lets out after mall hours - you're not going to be able to get to the subway/buses easily. They put up gates blocking mall access - so you can only leave from the theatre entrance - for TTC goers, that means walking all the way around the mall. Buy your tickets below at the machine kiosks, or you can buy tickets from the counter - then head up on the escalators to the concession and theatres. There's a new froyo (diy - pay by weight) place -and a gourmet popcorn (kernels-esque) before heading up to the regular concessions. They have a lounge that is licensed, never tried it and I rarely see anyone hanging around there. concessions are standard - serves meal items like pizza, fries, chicken fingers, pulled meat of some sort alongside the regular concession items like popcorn, nachos, and hotdogs. Theatre is relatively new -midsized in the amount of screens. Seats are still comfy, sound is good - nothing is runned down. Staff actually do a good job with the upkeep. Good washroom placements - one at the back and one near the front where they take your ticket. If you're going to see a popular film, get there a bit early, it gets busy and fills up quick.They show mostly the popular blockbusters - serves mostly the teen demographic. The facilities of the theatre itself are fine. It's the patrons that frequent this theatre that brings down the experience. As the PSAs brings up - there are always an abundance of tommy texters, susy seat-kickers, and very inconsiderate movie theatre attendees that frequent this place - moreso than any other theatres in the area. They have the giant screen right in front of the theatre that lists all the times, and if a movie is sold out or low on tickets. ALL theatres need to have this as the first thing at the entrance. This saves time and lessens the agony if your show is sold out on a Tuesday night or opening weekend. read more

My friends and I just went to watch Skyfall last night and one staff in this cinema was really rude. We were there two hours early to buy the tickets, and we decided to go to a nearby supermarket before the movie started. When we get back, the guy checking tickets at the second floor wouldn't let us in because of the groceries we bought. He wanted us throw our stuff away!! He was so arrogant and rude that eventually my friends and I returned the tickets and we didn't watch the movie there. read more

Its awesome that Christmas and New Year Day (the two days I got off) the movie theater was opened!! I watched Jack Reacher on Christmas and it was pretty awesome! The seats are really comfy and they can lean back. And there's like a lounge upstairs by the concession. Didn't go inside of it, but next time I definitely will. read more

My girlfriend and I went on a Tuesday to see Beauty and the Beast. I had a free popcorn coupon that we used. The popcorn was not bad. Could be fresher. In the dark, it is hard to tell how clean it is, how worn the seats are, etc., but it seemed fine and the washrooms were clean. It is not as nice Richmond Hill, Markham VIP or Colossus, but I would not have any objection to seeing a movie there again. We also saw Minions in 3D there a year before. read more

I came here yesterday night to watch Doctor Strange. It was my first time at this theater, and everything ran smoothly. Prior to my arrival, I purchased my tickets online on the Cineplex website. When I arrived, all I had to do was visit a kiosk and scan either my credit or SCENE card. I found this a bit odd since all the other theaters I've ever been to only asked for a booking code to scan or type in. Once I scanned my card, I then went upstairs where there is a small little arcade, as well as concession. To the right of the escalators is where the auditoriums are. This is probably the smallest theater I've ever been to. I counted 9 auditoriums while I was there, but I could be wrong. Still pretty small in comparison to Richmond Hill Silvery City and Colossus Woodbridge. The auditorium was pretty empty and clean on a Wednesday night, just how I like it. Timeplay ran on time, and the movie was great. There is a lot of room between the last row of chairs and the back wall of the auditorium. This was pretty interesting as I have never experienced this at other theaters. It gives you room to hang your jacket! As for washrooms, there is a smaller washroom near the ticket check area, and a bigger one at the very end of the theater area. read more

This is my go-to theatre, mostly because it's fairly central for my friends and me. We watched X-Men Apocalypse in Ultra AVX last week on Tuesday, and we hit a snag which quite affected my movie-going experience. I'm assuming there was an issue with something in the movie tech, because when we were watching the movie trailers/previews, they would lag or totally stop, or one part of the image would stay on screen as the rest of it continued to move, or the sounds didn't match up with the pictures. There were times where they attempted to reset it, but it would glitch up again. As a result, I did not get to watch the Suicide Squad trailer (and I know I didn't shell out money just so I could watch that trailer, but I was looking forward to it), and I'm guessing that because of it, we didn't get Timeplay. I'm also assuming that this was part of the tech glitches, and not an issue with the movie itself, but the first part of the movie was a tad shaky as well (as in the whole movie seemed to vibrate?). Thankfully, after a rough start, the rest of the movie went fairly well. read more

This is the worst theatre I have went in my whole life! This cashier named radeen (brown looking lady) didn't allow me to buy a ticket because of my race and told me I was a liar to society, but I all I did was asked for 2 adult movie tickets and she accused me of these actions. Also she took my scene card and kept it, telling me to not come back. I was stunned how this lady treat people because of their race, this is a free country if you don't like it then go back where you came from so you don't see other races. read more
