I have been box dying my hair on and off for the last 14+ years. So I was nervous that Lynn wouldn't be able to get my hair color the way I wanted it. I wanted the ombré bayalage but was worried that the black was on too thick and for too long. Lynn wasn't sure either but we tested my hair and it was strong enough to withhold the chemicals, she didn't want to ruin my hair. I really appreciated that since most hair stylists would fry your hair and take your money and not care. I came to Lynn to fix a previous bad balayage and color service a month prior. I also had a free consultation with her over the phone and sent her pictures of my hair. When I got to my appointment Lynn asked me what I want and don't want for my hair, I loved that she asked that question! I told her I want my color to be brought up higher, to not be brassy, to have the color really blended, and to have lowlights. During the service you can really see how focused and passionate she is about her work. She used the air technique on my hair to get the most blend and it is also more time consuming. I am so grateful she went that extra mile. After the bleaching session my ends were pretty damaged due to having the bleach service a month before. Lynn felt so sad for my ends and tried her best to give me more treatments during the service to bring back the health and integrity of my ends. I really appreciate how much she cared and did those extra things to help my hair. Her husband, who has his cosmetology license too, was also there assisting and and helped to inform me of the processes they were doing and the science behind it. We set time for it within view days. On the day11.30 arrival, she examined my hair and gave me her professional advice, hair cut that i need to start over, hours of work times getting it done 7+ hours and price. Than I agreed with all. She's fully work on me for all those times and ii asked a lot questions about hair and she answered and give me her knowledge appropriately so educated too. Her salon secluded and plenty room, i can bring my dog to if I ask her, she said fine. She owned the salon and she is meticulously spent time on the success my hair, we had lunch break after my foils up and I brought my lunch poke bowl, she has coffee keurig station and water for clients to drink and i make it my self. I fall in sleep too i guess during wash and tone. She used Pravana and she has the book swatches and I picked my desires tone between two different tone 8.22 and 9,22 she decided the root shadow demi permanent nearly to my original color. Overall I satisfied with my experience, product that she used not to sting my eyes and no burning scalp, she used around 7+ bowl lightener. I can say she knows how to work with her Asian clients. I feel light with my new balayage hair, i got about 8 inch long hair cut. I got a lot compliments from blonde hair college work. If you have curly, dark hair, avoid Imagine Hair Design. If you value your hair health and look at all, avoid Imagine Hair Design. My experience with Lynn was disastrous, and I feel obligated to warn others. Before my appointment, Lynn asked for inspiration photos and images of my current hair. We discussed my desire to transition from an orange-toned ombré to a darker, more natural look that matched my dark brown hair. Based on our discussion, she recommended a balayage and toner. When I arrived, Lynn suggested using dark brown highlights. After applying the color and washing it out, she spent an excruciating 45 minutes brushing through my naturally curly hair--strand by strand--despite my having arrived with it already detangled. This indicated a clear lack of experience with curly hair, as the process was unnecessarily painful. The real nightmare began when she decided to dry my hair before cutting it. Rather than giving me the layered cut we had discussed, she simply walked around me and made a straight cut across the bottom. But the most shocking part was the color: the entire bottom half of my hair turned a near platinum blonde, with orange streaks on top--completely the opposite of the darker, natural look I wanted. When I expressed my concerns, Lynn became defensive, accusing me of using box dye or other products at home, which I hadn't. She then claimed that my hair now needed color correction, despite not mentioning this before starting. Her solution was to charge me over $100 more and spend an additional three hours to apply an all-over dark brown, which would have erased any dimension or highlights. This was not what I asked for at all. Lynn showed no remorse and blamed me for the outcome. To make matters worse, she insisted on payment via Venmo instead of allowing me to use my credit card, which felt very unprofessional. In a state of panic, I left Imagine Hair Design and went directly to Headlines Salon across the street. The staff at Headlines were compassionate and understanding. Despite the late hour, they fit me in and toned my hair down to a more uniform dark brown. Unfortunately, by the end of the night, I had spent $600 and ended up with a result far from the subtle balayage I initially wanted. To anyone with dark, curly hair, or anyone who values their hair at all, I strongly advise against visiting Imagine Hair Design. Lynn's lack of skill, unprofessionalism, and the damage she caused were inexcusable. Headlines Salon even suspected she used bleach, which I never wanted and had never used before. The entire experience was deeply upsetting, and I hope this review spares someone else from a similar ordeal. read more

I was in SD for the holidays and found Lynn via Yelp/Instagram. Super glad I did! I had gotten a ton more gray hairs the last two years to the point it was impossible not to notice even from afar. I wanted to do something that would cover but also blend for when my hair grew out. I sent Lynn a couple of pictures of ash blond balayage and she made it happen with some changes! She wanted more information about my hair to see whether or not she'll be able to achieve what I asked for. I sent her photos of my hair and wish pics of the hair color/style. I basically asked if she could do a short pixie with some highlights since my buzz cut grew out over the last 6 months. Back to communication. Sent her the pics immediately after hanging up. No response. That's fair, she might be working on a client. Few days gone by, still radio silent. A simple text letting me know if she can/cannot do the hair service is all it takes. The lack of professionalism and simple communication is why this place deserves 0 stars. What a way to lose business. Words of advice, always show professionalism and respect by properly communicating to all clients. Your talent won't matter if you can't show basic communication skills. In response to owner: The fact that you "assumed" I was a scammer is clearly a red flag. You could have texted me back and asked me to explain further if you were confused. That's what professionals do. But you just wrote it off as a scam, which is still so unbelievable to me. It was also already clear over the phone that I wanted to even out my 6 months outgrown buzz, and have a short pixie, for my already SHORT hair. No one is asking you to cut my hair long? How does that even make sense? Secondly, the inspo photos I sent to you was the COLOR of how I wanted the highlights to be, ashy blond/or even grey. Not the length! Again, if you were confused, just text back and ask for clarity. All of this scam stuff that you're talking about could have simply been avoided if you just had some common courtesy to communicate professionally and not assume prematurely.
