I made an appointment with Sarah as a last resort. I was seriously considering ending my breastfeeding journey at 3 weeks due to a perceived low milk supply and a terrible latch. I was convinced that my baby girl just couldn't open her mouth wide enough and that I didn't have enough milk. Sarah was able to show me how to breastfeed without it when my second born was 2 weeks old. I am so happy I don't have to use the nipple shield with her. Sarah was everything! I had delayed supply due to a birth that ended with an emergency c section. The first appointment post birth was almost like therapy and it was so nice to talk to her about the birth experience itself. We had a lot of struggles in the beginning with low milk supply and also latching challenges. She came up with strategies on bringing up supply and gave me several options (this was important as she didn't immediately push triple feeding as mentally I couldn't handle it). Was having issues latching and after meeting with Sarah, breastfeeding has been much more manageable!! I was in lots of pain and even had some blisters and bleeding (I know, I perhaps waited too long before seeing an LC). A week later and no new blisters or pain at all. Quite the relief if you ask me! She took us in and listened to all of our concerns. Then checked his weight before evaluating our feeding routine. After she assessed, she reassured me that everything was completely normal and fine. I attended Sarah's Prenatal Boobie Basics class yesterday and have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how thorough her presentation was within the three hour time frame. I am pregnant with my second child and decided to learn more this time around as the first time around didn't go as planned (I didn't have much of a supply and supplemented with formula). I decided that this time around I wanted to be "more" prepared. Her props and presentation included short video clips from pediatric associations and accredited sites which I appreciated. There is a lot of information on the internet and it doesn't always mean it's accurate so having Sarah de-mystify all those facts was very helpful. I had read quite a few lactation books and followed a few lactation blogs such as kellymom.com and still managed to take away new tips and recommendations. Being a mom, I already had certain issues I wanted to address and needed advice on and Sarah was able to provide valuable help to ease my anxiety. Sarah demos proper latch and breastfeeding positions with props and makes it super fun and laid back especially if you attend the class with your partner. I highly recommend attending one of Sarah's classes whether it being private, group, or simply via phone. She responds promptly and this is something that everyone can definitely appreciated especially through hard times that come with breastfeeding.
