The Impala Inn has gone downhill, stayed many times. The shower didn't work, there were bugs, it need upgrading.

Terrible motel. Stayed over the summer. Location is all it has going for it. Dirty...moldy....worn. 1 inch gap under the door that leads to the outside. Found candy wrappers under the bed...hair clump in the sink. Definitely will get a ding on a parked car because the parking spots are as tight as can be. The worst motel I've stayed at and I've stayed at some $40 a night motels in the south on road trips. Woof. read more

When I made the reservation, I told them. I would have 2 vehicles, and they did say they couldn't guarantee it. I have a handicapped placard, and there's been a handicapped spot. And they won't let me park my second vehicle on the property when there has been a handicap spot empty the whole time we've been here I've had to pay to park out of pocket and walk to the hotel now on the up side they did let us park the one vehicle on the property at 11 am and also allowed us to use t h e pool and have us our beach tags all before 3pm check in but.... with that said when it was time to check in our room wasn't ready we weren't able to check in until almost 3:30 and I was told I'll talk to the manager and see what he can accommodate extra for you and I again mentioned the parking and still nothing we were also told they're would be a microwave in the room and they're wasn't they hae a community microwave by the office they had plenty of empty rooms at 3 ready to occupy but already had us assigned to a specific room for what ever reason we could have a room already done so in closing I'll never book here again read more

Nice little motel for the price and you can't beat the location. Parking was on both sides of the building, we chose a spot underneath so that it was covered. The spaces there also seemed a bit wider than the ones by the pool. Our room was updated and clean. The bed was a little uneven and too soft for me, but pillows were comfy. The alarm clock in the room was VERY bright and I couldn't unplug it. We also used the charging stations on the clock so I just covered it with a hand towel. A lot of light came in through the top of the black out curtain (I like complete darkness). Front desk staff were friendly upon checkin and check out. My daughters put $2 in the vending machine and it didn't give them their soda so the front desk gave them $2 to try again (it worked the second time). read more

I absolutely loved this place. This is definitely a shore place through and through. It's not fancy or particularly up-to-date. However, it's clean, affordable, and right off the Boardwalk. They also give out beach tags and parking passes with your reservation - hot commodities down the beach! Overall, I would highly recommend this to someone looking for a no frills shore experience. read more

We stay here every year at the beach. The pool is nice, the rooms are clean, and the staff is great. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else! Although if you have tyrophopia, much like myself, try not to look at the shower head or too closely at the floor. It may cause anxiety. read more

This place was okay. It's not really in great shape and definitely not the cleanest of places, but as far as Ocean City goes, that's pretty standard. It's priced better than similar hotels nearby. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They give you beach tags which is great. They have a decent pool. They give you a parking pass for one car. Probably the best thing about this place is the location. It's a stone's throw to the boardwalk and you're pretty much right in the middle of it. One thing that I did not like was their WiFi, it was pretty much nonexistent and they really shouldn't advertise it. read more

(Summer of 2021) experience at the Impala Inn at OC sent this letter out a week after our family trip and still no response from the hotel Manager. =-( Dear Hotel Manager and Staff, My family and I had the misfortune of staying at your hotel from July 26th to July 29th in room number 98. During our stay, we encountered a number of unsatisfactory service levels that I think you should know of and hopefully do something about. First, the room was not freshly cleaned, there was a very strong odor of mildew in the Livingroom and worst in the sleeping area. The bathroom was a bit smelly as well. We have rented rooms at the Impala Inn for at least the last ten years a few times a year. "I have to say this was one of the worst stays ever!" The property needs to be refurbished with new carpeting, bedding and new furniture nothing has been updated in the last ten year. It's a real shame!!!! Second, the mattresses (took the cake on this stay) my family was very uncomfortable both my daughter and my husband had back aches due the springs poking their backs. I went to the front office to complain and see if they could exchange the mattresses so my family could have a more restful stay, but unfortunately no accommodation was made to make any kind improvement. Not a restful stay at all. My family and I will no longer be renting for Spring or Summers vacations stays at the Impala Inn. "Landscaping and exterior is in great need of major improvements as well." I hope you agree with me that this type of service is completely unacceptable at so many levels. It is not the kind of treatment I would have expected from a (4.0 -star) hotel of your state and caliber as it is reviewed on Yelp, Trip Advisor and Expedia. My family and I are very disappointed from this bitter experience. I will be writing my personal review as well in all of these travel medias. Hopefully no other family will endure the same experience as we have had this Spring and Summer vacations of 2021. Omg please dont stay in this place horrible horrible service a maid actually put her hand on my eight year old daughter and shoved her out of the way saying get out of my way. All my daughter wanted to do was change into her swimsuit in the hotel room we paid for later we noticed my sons twenty dollar bill was gone off the top of the TV stand and my bags were opened and gone through there is no doubt in my mind the maid is a thief and the hotel doesn't care. Don't waste your time or money on this place. You'll feel like you traveled back to the 70's with the room. The staff can barely speak English, and didn't go above and beyond. Clean is not a word I would associate with this place. When I pulled down the comforter there was something that was squashed between it and one of the pillows, not sure what it was but it was not a pleasant surprise. The rooms had a mildew odor and were very dark. Our room was on the first floor right by the pool, which isn't a problem, the issue was that there was no type of shade on the window only the heavy curtain so you could not get any natural light in your room without letting the whole world see you and yours. This left the room like a dark dungeon. I would not stay here again and would not recommend this place. read more

This is still a clean nice stay while you visit ocean city. This year we are on the third floor. They have an elevator and in their pool, they have a Hoyer lift for disabled vacationers to safely get in and out of their pool. Quite a nice perk if you need to use it. They still offer their mid week package with the buy 3 nights get the 4th free, and breakfast is free daily at their restaurant across the street the bloom' n tulip. It's nice to be back. read more

Stayed in one of the refurbished rooms for a few days. Upon arrival the room was clean and cute. PROS: -Spacious room compared to others we've rented in OCNJ -Convenient location to bike rental place & Boardwalk - Fair price for location - Convenient chargers located on end table and in top drawer of dresser(!!!) - Decent size fridge which had a freezer cold enough to keep my freezer packs solid! - nice pool with fresh towels - cute baby pool in more shaded space - beach tags included for all adults - onsite parking for one car CONSIDERATIONS: - the beds were super soft. For my family of four they were way too soft and extremely uncomfortable. If you are used to firm or medium firm beds be aware this may not be your best nights sleep. - it's slightly noisy due to the amusement pier being so close. Our room faced the pool so it wasn't bad at all but people staying on the other side of the hotel said it was a bit overwhelming. Also there is a new coaster/thrill ride being built behind the hotel that is sure to add more noise CONS: - if you are traveling with little children the shower situation is difficult because there's no shower hose to rinse the kiddos off. - there isn't a separate switch to put the exhaust fan on in the bathroom,nor is there an outlet for a night light, so if anyone uses the bathroom in the middle of the night be prepared to wake everyone up with the extremely loud fan - the AC is next to one of the beds. Not sure where else it could be but it made one bed freezing cold which was very uncomfortable to have cold air blowing constantly when trying to sleep. Turned up the temp but it was still too much air blowing in one direction. There was no way to change the direction of the air output. - our room didn't get cleaned. Arrived Saturday and left Tuesday. We asked the staff to come clean it TWICE Sunday but they didn't come. The first guy said he would back within two hours. The next time I called the front desk and was told the cleaning staff left for the day. Someone showed up Monday to make the beds and emptied the trash but did not empty the recycle bin, did not vacuum the room and did not wipe down the sink or separate bathroom. I had to call the front desk every night to get fresh towels delivered to the room. Very disappointing. read more

We have been staying here over 10 years, but this past summer we had an awful experience. There was a misunderstanding with the housekeeping staff, and the housekeeping manager handled this in the most unprofessional manner I have ever seen anyone from someone in a management position. She was defensive and verbally aggressive to the point that my husband had to ask her to please leave our room because she was shouting at him. She did this in front of her staff and other occupants. Very embarrassing! Hotel management does not seem to care about their customers, either. I guess they feel that can just get someone else to pay for that room so customer interaction is not important to them. The hotel manager answered my husband's phone call, then once my husband referenced the email he sent the manager said he was busy and would call him back in 15 minutes. He never did return the call. Very unprofessional on every level. We will be looking for other accommodations from now on. read more

I would recommend staying here in a heart beat! The compassion that was shown was a breath of fresh air. My friend and I arrived mid afternoon on Friday, 12/29/17 with their First Night Package deal. Excellent package deal, BTW. The hotel was great, and very clean and a minute walk to the boardwalk! We loved that fact that it was apartment style and can cook and entertain. We were offered the choice of accommodations upstairs or down. We were looking forward to a wonderful weekend with a group of friends who also booked there for the weekend first night package. We received a call that night, about 9:30, that my friend's father was taken to the hospital and put on life support. We had to leave immediately. Sean at the front desk was so understanding and, without hesitation, gave us a refund and asked if there was anything else that they could do. Sad ending to our story. But my friends who stayed said that they had such a great time and loved the accommodations! One of the couples had stayed here before and therefore knew to expect a wonderful experience. read more

We stayed at this motel in august and it was in a good location and clean. The kids pool was perfect for our 18 month old. 1/2 block to the boardwalk which was a perfect walk for the kids. The room and the baby crib were clean. Limited parking but it didn't cause a problem. I would go back. read more

Love, love, LOVED the Impala! From the moment we arrived, staff was pleasant, helpful and friendly. Our room was spotless upon arrival and when we arrived to a dead bird under the bush outside our door, management had it taken care of within 30 seconds of me hanging up the phone. Literally, no exaggeration, 30 seconds. Our children loved the pool as well as being so close to the boardwalk action! Location was perfect for our family of four! Close to bike rental, restaurants, and Playland was in our backyard. My husband and I both agree that the Impala will be our first choice for our vacation next year!!!!! We stayed at this motel three years in a row. The rooms were fairly clean, and adequate for a four member family. Proximity to the beach was a major advantage, to the point where we parked our car and never had to move it again until our vacation was over. The staff was courteous. This motel is close to an amusement park, so the noise level could be loud for kids younger than two years old. My kids were so tired that they just slept with no issues. The only real issue -not just with this motel but with any other place in Ocean City, is parking your car. If you have a large car you better plan first before you take it there. The parking spots are fairly small, and if you make a run for coffee for instance, you'll be out of luck to find a free spot again. That's not taking anything away from Impala Island Inn, but it's just how things are in Ocean City I guess. (We have a Chevy Suburban, too too large for parking there!) That said, we never had to move our car out for any coffee or anything else as everything is abundant on the boardwalk! I have no regrets about Impala, and will be returning next year to celebrate our Eid there :) read more

My entire family has been coming here for the past several years. In my opinion, the hotel is extremely outdated, especially for the price. In the past, we have just sucked it up and dealt with the fact that everything seems so old looking (especially the bathroom). It is close to the beach and the room is spacious, so we just dealt with the room feeling outdated. However, this year's stay has been awful. They clearly advertise free wifi (which is something that my family needs for work reasons and one of the reasons we chose to stay there), yet we had absolutely no wifi connection for the first 2+ days of our stay. We called the office and instead of them fixing their issue for us, they told us to call their tech support team!! Why should my family have to spend time during our vacation to call tech support to fix their wifi issue? We spent over 2 hours on the phone with them since the problem was NOT simply an issue with our phones or a user error. Tech support could not resolve the issue that night after exhausting every option. They said they would have to try again tomorrow. Not one person from the Impala contacted us about the issue the following morning (or ever really, until we asked them to give us an update..). We went to the office at least 3 or 4 times to complain, but it seemed like nobody really cared or could help us. They kept telling us that they had to speak to their manager. Meanwhile, the first two days, we never even heard from the manager, and the only time we spoke to the main manager was when we happened to bump into him on our walk to our room. The manager told us that there was no way the would refund us for the problem (even though they advertise free wifi). They really seemed as if they could care less about our issue. If we had felt they were accommodating and understanding of our issue and did something about it, we would have gladly understood. However, they did not give us any form of refund for this. The amount of cellular data I had to use to make up for the lack of wifi was ridiculous!!!! The wifi did start working the last day of our stay but the connection was SO poor for me that I felt I was better off using my cellular data. Just a very unpleasant experience and we will not be giving them our business any longer. It's one thing if management comes off as understanding, friendly, and helpful, but in my family's opinion, they were not. We will not support a business that can't hold true to their advertisement or at least back their customer up when there is an issue. Save your money!! read more

We were 2 adults and 2 young children. The only positive thing was the location. Management thought it was unreasonable to complain about things like dirt in the bathroom, lumpy pillows, carpet stains, dust on blinds. The accommodations were not clean, but even worse was the reaction when you tried to get some of these things resolved. Just so you know, we are lifelong travelers and not spoiled. read more

We're really happy we found this place. Considering it has a pool and a great location (one block off the boardwalk right in the center of the boardwalk) the pricing is really good. I am a clean freak but will testify I did not see anything dirty on the property or our room. The property and certain parts of the room appear a bit worn, which I suppose some would think makes it look dirty, but it was clean. Check in/check out was a breeze; staff was friendly. I have seen other reviewers mention parking was a problem; we had no issues. We had a main poolside room and could not hear the rides at the nearby amusement park. We did a mid-week package and the free 2 daily breakfasts was a great perk. (The food was good at the restaurant, but service was the worst and most bizarre service I've ever seen; so bad that we chose to forgo our free meal and go somewhere else for breakfast on our last day.) Rooms are pretty small but hey, you're not on vacation to sit in your hotel room. Mattresses are pretty saggy but not the worst I've ever seen....I know that saggy mattresses are typical for hotels. Maid staff did a really nice job replenishing towels/washcloths each day. Temperatures outside were in the 90's and I was so happy the AC in our room was strong and made the room icy cold when we needed it. We will most likely stay here again when we vacation in OC again. read more

This was my first trip to OC and we stayed at the Impala Island Inn. Yes, the layout of the room is dated but the room, bathroom and accommodations were SPOTLESS!! We had two rooms in the second floor next to the amusement park. There was another review that mentioned the noise from the rides, but it was barely discernible to us. There is strong WiFi and digital cable tv in the room. The rooms are very roomy - enough space for beach gear, luggage and a family of 6!! Parking is at a premium but with a lot across the street, it was doable. Very friendly staff. Half of our family stays here regularly and I can see why. Access to the boardwalk, beach, restaurants, post office, etc. couldn't be made more easy. The only improvement I thought needed to be addressed was the air conditioning. We are visiting during a major heatwave in the Northeast. The cool air, situated under the front window, didn't make it to the back of the unit. Otherwise- a wonderful stay!! read more
