They empathized and really cared about what we wanted for our home in the rebuilding process. We were able to take our time and never felt rushed to make up our minds about reconfiguring the home or deciding on something such as the finishes. No, it took 11 months because we had to fire RVA Restoration due to their incompetent sub contractors and an argumentative superintendent. If you choose them, be prepared to oversee everything they do or you will be sorry. They don't even deserve ONE star! We made the unfortunate decision to choose this company for restoration work. They are highly unprofessional and incompetent. Do not make the mistake of thinking they will finish your project skillfully or on time. You are better off finding qualified tradesmen specializing in specific areas, who care and take pride in the work they do. This company is nothing more than an embarrassment to the industry. They will do low-grade work and leave your home worse off than it was.

Avoid these clowns like the plague!…read more We live up in Fairfax, and had a positive experience with the local office a number a years ago. When our basement recently flooded again, we figured it was a no-brainer to go with these guys. Wow, what a mistake! Unfortunately, All of Northern Virginia is now routed through the Richmond office, and they're worse than worthless. After the initial visit/set-up, they repeated appeared for follow-ups at times OTHER THAN what were scheduled. This meant no one was available here to let them in, and our efforts to re-schedule were typically ignored/visits missed. This dragged on for SEVERAL weeks, and it didn't dawn on us at the time that they were simply padding things.....extending as long as possible to maximize what we could be charged. Even when "complete", the job was half-a**ed at best. We tried to address this with their management (especially given the absurd charge they'd hit us with), but....no surprise.....our emails and calls went unanswered. Only when they demanded payment did we hear back....and then incessantly. My wife explained that we'd be paying them 2 weeks after receipt of the invoice, but the calls resumed literally the day after it arrived (threatening us with collection multiple times). I'd love to figure out how they came up with well over $5K for the bill, but....at this point....we just want to be DONE with them. My advice, go ANYWHERE else....this office is a complete scam!

After a year into the claim their adjuster Adam didn't even realize that it was a two story house and that we had damage upstairs and down! How in the world do you have my best interest at heart when you don't even read the estimates from your own company? In the end they never submitted the cabinet quotes to the insurance company costing me thousands of dollars and months of haggling with the insurance company. In the end after telling me countless times that everything balanced to the penny, they finally admitted they owed me a small refund. (Sarcastically). Just a small amount..... $1880.72 from VRS and another $2309.04 from the insurance company for repairs not submitted. We finally got the check from VRS yesterday and what do ya know, one final screwing. They shorted me the .72 cents. Not worried about it,It's not the money but the principal, you would have thought they would have paid the refund in full and apologized for all the mistreatment over the two years of haggling, but no. Had it not been for my oversight and persistent haggling VRS would have cost me thousands!

WARNING TO ALL CONTRACTORS & CUSTOMERS: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH FIVE STAR RESTORATION OR GANI…read moreBERISHA I am writing this review as a warning to both subcontractors and property owners considering working with Five Star Restoration and its owner, Gani Berisha. We performed subcontracting services for this company in good faith. Our work was completed professionally, on time, and without any disputes regarding quality. Despite this, Gani Berisha has completely withheld payment of $2,405 for our labor and materials. He has ignored text messages, ducked phone calls, and refused to pay what is rightfully owed. For Contractors: Protect your cash flow and your team. Five Star Restoration does not honor verbal or implied agreements and will leave you holding the bag for material and labor costs. Do not take jobs from them unless you want to chase your money through the court system. For Property Owners / Customers: Be incredibly careful hiring this company. Because they refuse to pay their subcontractors, you run a massive risk of having mechanic's liens placed directly against your property by unpaid workers, completely disrupting your project and title.A business is only as good as its integrity, and Gani Berisha has shown zero integrity in his business practices.

RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!…read more I cannot express enough how incredibly frustrating and mentally exhausting our experience with this company has been. We started our kitchen recon 6 months ago, and here we are today with no cabinets, no granite countertops (that they broke then tried to ask our insurance company to cover the costs), and improper flooring that is already lifting in multiple spots. This project has been a nightmare from start to finish, and I wouldn't wish this on anyone. First off, Aaron Lee and Matt Duffy have been completely unresponsive throughout this process (until I finally went into the office as they weren't taking our calls) . After weeks of waiting for updates, they refused to speak with us at all now. And when we tried to push for a resolution, they sent our remaining balance to a debt collector after we had paid 50% of the costs upfront, with nothing to show for it. They fired our project manager, Benjamin Thomas, who was the only person who genuinely seemed to care about our project. Aaron specifically asked for all of the documents I had gathered so they could review the costs for the correct cabinets , only to fire Benjamin the same day. It's clear they have no regard for their customers. The pictures speak for themselves -- my kitchen is still not finished. The first photo was taken during the "reconstruction" phase, and the rest of the pictures show the sad state it's in today. But even more disturbing is Justin Ballas swore it was safe, but when I walked in to my house I found my daughter and two dogs underneath a huge piece of granite (held up by a 2x4). I could've lost my family. This was beyond dangerous, and no one seems to care. How is that up to code?? How is that ok? To top it all off, the floor installers told Servpro midway through the flooring installation that our subflooring wasn't adequate enough to support the new floors. Without warning, we received a call from Tyesha, who told us we had to pay extra for the removal of the floors, (that were currently being installed) for new subflooring, new flooring, and for the installation of the new floors - none of which were disclosed to us in advance. So not only are we now out $10K, but we are still without a completed kitchen, still without proper flooring, and still no resolution. We have tried every possible avenue to communicate with Aaron and Matt, but they have refused to speak with us. This has been an incredibly stressful and costly experience, and we are still left with nothing to show for it. A few weeks ago they sent our remaining balance to a "debt collector" and included their lawyers fees. Yet we have nothing to show. What did they do with the money that we already gave them?? Save yourself the headache, the heartache, and the money
