Purchased a car that that did not run and had many undisclosed problems including bad EGR valve, faulty ABS, faulty safety systems, faulty emissions systems, and undisclosed body damage. Dealer has not responded to any attempt at resolving issues for over a month and now has refused to send title. Contact attempts by the bank, the DMV, and myself have gone ignored and I am unable to register the vehicle. read more

I dislike buying used cars from used car dealerships. Reminder: Short unassuming Asian chick with no real physical presence to really intimidate anyone into being fair. A few things when you get here you'll notice right away... This is not your regular American Dealership. You get here and it looks like a business park. The dealer office is ALL the way in the back. The business building looks like it could use a face lift. I could imagine a Russian Gang making this their hide out or fake business for cleaning money. (I hope not to get shot by saying this) When you finally arrive at the door, there is no REAL American friendliness that I, as a southern girl am used to. It is more of a respectful, let's get you serviced and out the door. It's all business and no real connection. This goes for the sales and service. I bought a 2006 Toyota Scion XA for my boyfriend. I asked for a car fax and I got one right away. The car had some belt issues and headlights were not working. We didn't realize this until the drive home. It took 3 weeks to get to it but it got done for free. The owner SAM owns the Service Dept and you get 25% from buying the car from them. When you speak to Sam, be prepared for the Russian guy to speak like this.. (NO Joke) Me: Hi, I bought the car and I was promised it would get a free repair. Sam: You bring! I fix. Me: Ok. When I arrive at the repair place, different location than the dealership. (No greetings) Me: Hi, Here are the keys. (I try to explain the issues and he cuts me off. ) Sam: I look. I fix. (Blank look) Me: Ok. Do you have my number? Sam: It in my phone. (He walks away with key) Yeah... not personable. Not customer service oriented. So far I didn't get screwed. I got the car back after I called for an update a week later. You will have to stay on top of them for communication. It's not their forte. But as far as fair goes. I had a good experience with Denis and buying my first car. He was honest about the salvage title, and offered to send pix if I couldn't find them. My car runs great, and was spotless when I picked it up. Hee never pressured me to buy and kept me on track when I got distracted by something out of my budget and what I originally told him I needed. (Even though he could have had a larger sale). Just bought a car from them. Didn't really negotiate much as the salesman himself lowered it a couple hundred bucks. There was a few minor issues wrong with the car that I wanted fixed prior to me completing the sale but not all of them were followed through on by the dealer. I'd say this place is better than other small dealerships in the area, but they have a lot of work to do in making their customers happy. read more

1.5 years later: Avoid Import Auto. In March 2018, I paid an additional fee on top of purchase price for a new timing belt. They sub'd job out, which was done incorrectly and negligently. Water Pump installed incorrectly per Toyota's manual, and leaked a couple weeks later. Also, radiator was damaged by the shop when fan was removed. Lastly, car, which is over 6 years old, has hail damage, which I did not notice when purchasing and covered in snow. No courtesy disclosure or notice on the hail damage. Neither Import Auto or the sub shop will stand behind their negligent work, only asking that I pay again for same job. Fixing Import's mess, paying for the same Timing Belt job twice, cost nearly $3K out of pocket over the course of a year. Also, they have refused to respond to three written demand letters from the MN Atty General's Office. So avoid Import if you ever wish to resolve issues that may arise. read more

BUYER BEWARE! Salesman was NOT knowledgeable or honest about the Infiniti QX30 I was interested in. He told me that the car was in a minor fender-bender. I ran a CarFax & AutoCheck report - it was in a major accident where airbag deployed and car was not drivable, had to be towed (in New Jersey). Max and Import Auto Sales. Over the new year our family moved from Chicago to Minneapolis. In order to prepare for the move we visited in early December to view a few places for rent and shop for a car. I did some homework and found a 2012 Golf TDI 6-spd MT with 58,400 miles for sale at Import Auto Sales. I called and spoke with Max (a sales associate) about the car. I let him know I was interested and would be in town to view that weekend. He advised he couldn't hold the car but would be happy to show me the car if it was still available on Saturday. We arrived Saturday around mid-day and went to work, going over the car visually with a fine-toothed comb. Once the visual inspection was complete we test drove the car. All the while, Max gave us our space and allowed us to take our time. Once we returned (and finished discussing several items over with Wifey) I sat down in Max's office and we worked out a fair price for the car. Max was understanding of my concerns (the car had a few blemishes, no floor mats, loud "new" snow-tires and a bulge in a tire wall) & worked with me on a price. I did request that they change the "new" snow-tires on the car due to the bulge, but Max insisted that he could negotiate the price to assist but wouldn't be able to change the tires. Happily we were able to meet in the middle on a fair price and we drove the car off the lot that day. Max advised us of their 30-day bumper-to-bumper warranty and that he would find the floor mats for us within the next month. *Conclusion: The process was very easy and Max is very customer focused and friendly. We were quite pleased with the whole experience. Fast forward (First week of January): We stored the car for about a month here in MN until we could get moved. After 5 days of daily driving the battery went bad. I had to go back to the dealer to re-sign docs for the bank loan anyway so I called up Max and advised him of the battery issue (I was technically past the 30-day warranty Import Auto Sales offers). He kindly advised me that if we could get the battery/car to him, he would give us a battery and install it free of charge. Wifey and I were ecstatic! What great customer service! We got the car to the dealer, were able to sign the docs and get the battery changed. We are still waiting on the floor mats but we have WeatherTech in the front row so we will be patient. :) I prefer to purchase my vehicles private party and have little positive experience with used car dealerships but Max and the folks at Import Auto Sales are not your typical used car dealership. They are not high pressure at all. Once you are ready to discuss a purchase they will acknowledge your concerns and work with you to find a price that matches their budget and yours. *New development (mid-January): A 2nd bulge in a 2nd tire wall. Be aware that if you do purchase a car, you may be shopping for tires within 6-12 months afterward. The tires they put on are Pirelli's but seem to be low-quality. Just my 2 cents here. Once again, Max worked with me on price and I planned on changing my tires anyway. I am still a very happy client. :) read more

The Absolute WORST car dealership I have ever done business with! I want to save as many people as I absolutely can from being involved in a nightmare with Import Auto Sales. My Husband and I paid cash for an Audi A4. We test drove the vehicle and the oil light came on to put more oil in the car. This was immediately a red flag for us, we asked the sales man about this and he guaranteed us the car just hasn't had an oil change in awhile and that this was the best vehicle for us. I asked him many times if he was positive and he went and double checked when the last oil change was. He came back and said they haven't done one in awhile and that it wouldn't be an issue after we got an oil change. Little did we know that this year and brand of car had a major defect where it burns through oil and you have to do a full rebuild of the engine. I immediately called import auto sales today right when I found out and the man I spoke with was the rudest person I have ever talked with in my life. He told me he spoke with Audi and they would put in a new engine in for us under warranty! HE LIED ONCE AGAIN! We just got off the phone with Audi and they said the warranty expired. He literally just told us he just spoke with them and they said it was still under warranty! This Company LIES nonstop. I explained to him that his employee provided us with false information and he basically said well sorry you're on your own. I asked if he would give us a refund and he said NO. Not even part of a refund! Absolutely nothing! NOT even a customer service number to call to get the engine rebuilt! Not even an apology! We would have brought the car back and bought a different one from them if he would have handled this situation better! He was horrible to me on the phone and wouldn't even let me get a word in. Now I have to go through the stress of getting this engine rebuilt! My reason for this review is I understand import auto sales looks like they have nice flashy cars for a good deal. TRUST ME they lie to you on what you're buying and take your money. We have had this car for less then two months! This was a pretty negative experience for me. I purchased a car in December and agreed with the salesman to pay cash, via one main payment and then a second post-dated check. The main payment was to be cashed in 48 hours, following a legal holiday, when I'd have the funds in my account. Contrary to promise, it was cashed immediately, causing an overdraft and returned check (duh). That should have alerted me that there might be a problem when the time came to deposit the post-dated check. The salesman was supposed to call and confirm that it should be deposited (I watched him write it down in the sales file and on his calendar). Guess what? In the meantime, it took them over a month to file my title and get me my tabs. Love the car; hated the experience. read more

They seem like very friendly people. They do false advertising, and they play favorites. We went to get a car and they said it was for sale. We went threw the processes and everything, turns out they were holding it for another buyer, male, who was by 3 days prior, on a maybe. Then it turns out they held onto the car for 4 days. Perhaps it was because my mom, a female was wanting to buy it, or that I was there, a gay adult, and they just didn't want to work with us. But they still have the car on their website and say it's actually sold. read more

Cars are priced decently but don't bother with their finance options. I recommend you get your own financing or pay cash before going here. We came later in the evening and from the look of it Levi(I believe that is the name of the guy) was maybe tired but really seemed more like he was tipsy. The vehicle we were interested in was ok but after asking for the Carfax we found out it was involved in an accident. After 10 minutes in the office, a short chubby guy, I believe his name was Ragu, came in and introduced himself as the owner of the place. His eyes were red and teary. His speech was slurred in addition to having a thick Russian accent. We could smell the scent of alcohol when talking to him. He was intoxicated. He was mumbling and going on with questions like where we are from, etc. Basically, he was bragging and preaching about a bunch of stuff that doesn't pertain to cars or the reason we were there. After he started asking questions about our personal life, we felt really uncomfortable. It went on for 25-30 minutes and we realized all he wanted to do was just talk to us. We couldn't wait to get out of there. But even after standing up he continued to pressure us about our decision. The whole time we felt like we were being interrogated with questions and pressured to buy immediately. Not to mention the sober condition of the staff. Finally after we got out of there, we were still in the parking lot and looking for a place to eat on our gps when we saw the owner get in his vehicle and drive away with a white dealer license plate. We could not believe he was driving that evening. That made our decision to not ever go back there because of such irresponsible behavior. Next day we went to another place down the street Poquet and purchased our car. We were thankful to get out of Import Auto Sales and making the right decision and going to Poquet instead. We bought the same car with almost same mileage for only $200 difference but the vehicle had a clean history and experience was professional and easy. At any cost, avoid this place. read more
