We had a bad experience selling our BMW X5 at Poquet Auto in Golden Valley this afternoon. My husband, who works in a car shop and keeps our cars in excellent condition, brought it in -- no issues, and definitely no check engine light. He watched them drive it off the lot and be gone for 10-15 minutes. But when they returned, they claimed they never drove it and that the check engine light was already on when they started it. I've bought three cars at Poquet along with my sister and cousin. A wonderful experience from beginning to end. You can wander around the indoor showroom or the outdoor lot, sit in the cars with no-one hassling you but there's someone near if you need help. If I recall correctly, the sales crew were not on commission. Prices are fixed, no haggling. Our experience is that their trade-in offers are generous. The credit-union based financing was better than my credit union. Poquet only sells nearly-new used cars but they are top of the line in terms of looks and mechanical. They look new. The stock tends toward very well equipped. This was the best experience ever. I worked with Brad in Lakeville and John in Golden Valley. I emailed with Brad beforehand to ask questions and figure out which cars I was going to test drive. The Golden Valley location is super close to downtown Mpls-10 minutes! When you enter the dealership the atmosphere is extremely cozy. Not at all like the bright high ceilings and freezing temps at other places. They have a front desk person you meet with and booklets of all their available cars. I test drove for about 20 minutes and decided on the same make but a different car. Since the car was in Lakeville I signed papers to buy contingent on a test drive and inspection. So easy! Filling out the loan paperwork can be done online and their rates are comparable to a credit unions. I was able to get a 6 year loan for 3.4% APR. Different credit scores will affect your rate but even those with a 600 range will have a good interest rate. The other great thing was the lack of a billion fees. There was tax, registration and a service fee, that's it! Most other dealerships would tack on ridiculous fees like 'you stepped onto our lot' fee (exaggerating yes). Not Poquet Auto! Everything was ready for me to pick up the car by Friday, and I had started the process that Monday. John helped orient me to the car and showed me some of the features. I can't believe I'm writing a review of a used car dealership, but Poquet is unlike any other. We worked with Chuck to find a unicorn of a used car: a 2014 Subaru Outback with only 28k miles. The car looks and drives like a brand new vehicle inside and out. Chuck was responsive to our many questions and Poquet exceeded every expectation of a used car dealership. Service department experience was awesome. Have a 2006 Lexus that the dealership told me would cost over 1000 to fix trunk hydraulic struts so I've put up with holding the trunk up. Curious if someone could do it for less, called Poquet. Between my parents, brother and myself we have purchased 7 cars from Poquet over the years. Most recently I bought a Nissan Rogue - an unexpected purchase after my beloved Audi was deemed totaled. Brad (and Colin) helped me find what I was looking for with the parameters given - they came up with multiple options and we went from there. I went in with an open mind with a few requirements (like AWD) but if you are looking for a specific car, I'm sure you could request it since they buy at auctions weekly. We had a good conversation about my concerns and I feel my concerns were thoughtfully considered and they were very interested in them. Brad treated me like the person I am. He tuned into what I did, and didn't, know about cars without ever being condescending. He listened, answered, and guided. The sale rep that I talked to took me through the cars that were in my budget and what I was looking for and just gave me the keys and let me take them out. After I was done test driving several cars we sat down and went over what I liked and didn't like. Again and Again they go above and beyond. The Volvo I purchased there blew a belt pulley and my belt blew. Well On a sat I talked to Rob and Monday morning Andrew was already working on it. If you ever need a car go to Poquet. Every time I have had a problem they have been more helpful than any luxury dealership. I called borton Volvo after jiffy lube said they could not replace my belt. and Borton said I would have to call back Monday and maybe they could get me in this week. Found a nice, low mileage vehicle at Poquet that was exactly what we were looking for. After my wife and I had both completed test drives, I e-mailed the sales consultant indicating that I would like to move forward and would come in to go through the numbers. She assured me that we could handle via e-mail, shared the sales and trade-in numbers and asked me via e-mail late on a Friday afternoon if I would like to purchase the vehicle. Prior to Poquet's 9 am opening time on Sat. morning, I sent an e-mail response confirming that I did indeed want to purchase the vehicle and requested the paperwork. A short while later I received a note and call from Poquet telling me that the vehicle had been sold. Apparently, someone had come in on Sat. morning to view the same vehicle and because they were on-site, they had "right-of-first-refusal" according to Poquet's policy. Very frustrating given that I had indicated my interest and intent to buy the vehicle prior to Poquet's opening time that morning and had been told that I did not need to come in to complete the transaction. All Poquet could tell me was "sorry....bad timing". So, if you decide to do business with Poquet and you find a vehicle that you like, learn from our experience - do not assume that e-mails or phone calls will secure your vehicle or that Poquet will hold a vehicle for you just because you have indicated your desire to purchase. I hate buying a car except from here! They specialize in leased cars that are only 1-3 years old. Such a no hassle laid back approach where you feel like a customer and not just a sale. They were very fair with my trade in, where other dealerships were not. The price was firm, which in a way is nice to not have to play the back and forth game. Best part was getting the car. I'm in the market for a new car and while browsing through cars.com was reminded of the awful experience I had here a couple years back. It was without question one of the worst customer service experiences of my life (top five). They treated my potential trade-in vehicle as if it was a piece of trash (a beautiful Audi) and told me it was such that they wouldn't even be able to resell it in their own showroom. I still have that Audi. What made matters worse is that when I discussed vehicle price with them versus a dealer they actually told me to purchase a car at that dealer! Someone once said that "you may forget what people say, but you will never forget how they make you feel." This place made me feel like trash, and I happen to unfortunately also remember what they said. I would rather purchase my future Mercedes from one of those sketchy used car lots than this place. I was referred to Poquet Auto by some of my friends and they said it was one of the better dealerships in the area. The salesmen were very helpful, the cars that they have are handpicked, in great condition. After test driving a few cars I decided to purchase a Hyundai from them. The sale process was quick; I put in a down payment in addition to being approved for a loan. Overall it was a great experience to purchase the car from them. The problem occurred when I went to them to service my car. I usually use Valvoline instant oil change for my regular servicing but I decided to go with Poquet Auto this time since the oil change is only $20.00. There I was told that there are additional parts that need replacement, believed them because why wouldn't I. The total bill came out to be a little more than 90 bucks, which is fine since cars need parts replacements all the time. Typically after an oil change my cars engine sounds a little smoother. This time it did not, I became suspicious that they may not have changed the oil itself. But I kept going because the sound wasn't too bad. A few months went by, I was well below the 3000 miles before the next oil change was due. My car engine sounded worse and worse. I began to suspect that the fan belt may need replacement and then one day my check engine light went on. This time I decided to get an oil change from my regular Valvoline shops, and guess what... my engine purred like a kitten after words. The check engine light was turned off the next day. I feel bad that even though I had gone to Poquet Auto for an oil change they forgot to change the oil itself. read more

We are your typical busy family. Buying a new car is supposed to be a little fun but we really only have a small bit of time to test drive, talk financing and make the deal happen. When we sent an email to Poquet middle of the night in response to a listing on their website, we never guessed we would get a call back. Expected an email response. Furthermore, we never expected a response in less than 24 hours. It was approx. 11 hours between sending our email and having John Doberstein call us from Poquet. We told him we were actually on our way into Poquet to talk to them about the car we were interested in. That Saturday morning, he met us at the door. I think we spent 10 minutes talking and he had us (all four in our family) in a car and on a test drive. We came back to the office and in less than an hour (probably more like 30 minutes) we had financing paperwork in order and all we had to do was await the arrival of our car (in transport from MI). On Monday, Poquet's financing person contacted me to confirm financing details. Wednesday, John updated us on the status of the car shipment. A week later another update with an estimate of how delivery that following Friday would go. Within two weeks our car arrived (keep in mind we bought it sight unseen ~ thus the timeframe). The car was in beautiful condition when it arrived. Similar to our first day at Poquet, we were in and out. Reception met us and handed us the keys for a test drive, financing then got the paperwork in front of us and then John walked us through some basics for the Mercedes C300. I think all in all we spent approx. 2.5-3 hours total between our two visits to Poquet to buy our car. There isn't another dealer out there that would make you feel special about your purchase the way Poquet did. They also have an awesome system in place so the customer feels everyone is working together to make the customer happy! We will buy our next car there and the next one too! Really made us feel special when John called a week after delivery to make sure we were still happy with our purchase and enjoying the new car! read more
