However, because she was not 10 the waitress said she couldn't have it. That's fine, I will respect the rules of the place but I was taken a back by their unwillingness to even have me pay for it but just charge her as an adult. My child is literally a chicken nuggets and french fry child. She eats nothing outside of her safe foods. She was fine just sitting there but geesh, they were really strict about this $6 dollar kid menu item. Eventually the waitress asked the manager I suppose and I was told exactly "we will only allow it for this one time". Well that pretty much sealed the deal. I was pretty sure there wouldn't be a second time. As stated, my meal was great. I'm thankful they had the special because honestly there wasn't anything on the menu that stood out for me. If it weren't for the special, I probably would have had the soup of the day, tomato cream basil. Our server just did not make me feel as if she either enjoyed working there or she enjoyed serving us. I'm not sure which one but I won't be back to find out. I have to admit I was hesitant about going forward with AKB since I'd not read any review about them, but I had a good feeling after I met Benjamin to receive the initial estimate. I got the impression that he actually really cared about his work and the job he does and it was more than just a paycheck for him. I really liked how he was even able to give me a ballpark estimate with just some pictures I sent him before he came over to give a true estimate. I initially reached out to Benjamin in late May and we had decided to start work the first week of July (on that note, he also had earlier availability than anyone else I had received a quote from). We wound up pushing that back once we received the final quote as we wanted more time to save money for the job. He started work on our kitchen on a Monday and was basically done by Friday, except for a few items he had to come back to finish up early the next week. He was great about communicating when he would be at the house and did a fantastic job cleaning up each day--we were able to still use our kitchen in the evenings. We did the back-splash ourselves to save money, and after finishing that, I'm just floored at how beautiful this kitchen looks. I even have to force myself to go to sleep and stop staring at my kitchen each night. This job was started may 10 and I was very specific it had to be finished may 16 for realtor pics on 17th. They didn't show up on 15th and didn't call. Rained on 16th. On 17th, they rushed to get finished before pictures and were still there when photographer showed up. I hurriedly wrote a check to Ben Macy, the owner. As you can see in the pictures, there is spacing on the railing. The stairs are awful, looks like wonky stairs at a fun house. They are not level. They are leaning. The stair rails are leaning. How is this considered quality work?? I was told it's because we used the original risers. But my stairs were not crooked at all before this. As you can see, the first board is not level with concrete. This has nothing to do with riser- previous board was completely level with walkway. The next day, the18th, we talked and i told him i need the stairs to not be leaning. He said they'd be out the next week. Didn't hear from him, they didn't show up. I called Ben on may 29. They couldn't come out that week because they were finishing a big job. WHAT ABOUT MY JOB YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED?? Today is June 13 and i still haven't heard from Ben or seen his crew.
