Our visit was enjoyable. The staff was friendly, the coffee good, and a good selection of breakfast pastries. We stayed at the Aston next door, and this coffee shop is conveniently located next to the resort. We received vouchers for the Cafe, but once there you can upgrade for a different drink which I did - got a quad espresso instead of the drip coffee. read more

I stayed at a hotel right next to Imua Coffee Roasters and was so glad this place was here! Stopped by for my morning coffee and pastry every day. I was still on Pacific time so having a place open at 6am was perfect. The service was always great. The outdoor seating area was nice. read more

this is a vegan only menu. If you want real espresso/lattes/coffee with real dairy move on. I was planning on buying my coffee here, but given the choice of vegan or else I chose to move on. Wonder how many customers this little shop looses with their my way or the highway option. read more

The best coffee I had on Kauai. I got a decaf Americano and my mom got the cold brew. If you can make decaf taste good, you know what you're doing. Kauai Coffee Co is trash compared to this. I was able to pick up their collab chocolate bar with Wild Kauai Chocolate for $10. read more

Good coffee here, met the roaster and the coffee is great. They have single source drip as well as pour overs and other drinks. The first pour over I had was great... the second a little rushed. But good the roast is excellent. They gave some nice seating in the back and ImuaLife t-shirts for sale. If you are a coffee snob like me it will satisfy simply with bean selection and roast. I highly recommend them for you light to medium roast and single source coffee in the morning. How do they compare to Kauai Coffee Company you ask? Kauai Coffee is decent and does the job. It grown at lower elevation and varietals not as exotic so is different from other sources. read more

Really disappointed with the change to plant-based only drinks. Imua coffee was one of our all-time favorite places to get coffee and always looked forward to it when coming to Kauai. With great excitement, we went yesterday, and learned they no longer make dairy drinks. We ordered oat milk lattes... and literally, as soon as we got to the car in the parking lot, poured our drinks out as the taste was undrinkable. It's understandable not everyone can have dairy/lactose drinks, but at the least... For those of us who can and do, please store a couple of gallons of whole milk in the refrigerator to accommodate the other half. read more

This was the only place we went to that was a Roastery. Super chill, really friendly staff, simple coffee shop without all the sugary fluff that appeals to most tourists. We got to drip coffees, one from papua new guinea & the other from Sumatra. Both absolutely delicious! I missed out on the muffins but got a slice of banana bread which was perfect with my coffee. We noticed that our other favorite coffee spot (Sunrise Coffee) uses beans roasted from Imua so what more can I say! read more

Probably the worst coffee I've ever had. If there was one bean swirled around in some hot water I would be surprised. To call it Colombian coffee is a HUGE insult considering I'm Colombian!! My wife's iced coffee was so disgusting she had to pitch it soon after leaving. The bakery items that were there looked like they had been there for a long time and we got there when they opened. Also, service with an attitude is not a good way to run a business. That's $10 I'll never get any satisfaction from. Don't waste your time with this place. If I could give them zero stars I would. read more

All I can say is "strong". They give double or quadruple shots depending on size. I got the iced black Americano (~$3.50) and it had a dark kinda flavor - not bitter at all so that was cool. I came around 7 AM and love that they open at 6 AM. You will def be awake after your drink! They are also very COVID conscious! I also tried the pear, fig, and almond croissant. I knocked off a star because of it. They heated it up which was nice but there was hardly any almonds, I didn't see or taste any fig, and there was half of one slice of visible/detectable pear. It did have interesting texture in that single bite of pear but otherwise more than half of it was just unfilled, unflaky croissant :-/ read more

Warning, this place doesn't serve any normal milk -- we walked 20 minutes to grab a coffee, then to find the only options were alternative milks from soy/almond/etc... this is not obvious from a quick search for good coffee shops in the area. If you are looking for a milk-based coffee, this isn't for you. Ended up leaving and hiking down the road to Java Kai, which was a treat. read more

So this is a hard one for me ... but here goes Horrible experience from one place I loved almost daily my coffee ( lattes) have been cold and my ice tea was warm ... waste of what seems to be increased prices I'll just stick back to my other local business also what I assume is new staff whom is consistently unfriendly, unprofessional, Unknowledgeable and not barista. Also I was disappointed that the super friendly efficient and fast baristas are now gone. What a horrible way to start this day. Don't waste your time or money. read more

This hidden little gem was delicious! My hubby wasn't thrilled that they didn't have half n half (plant based), but I was in Heaven as I avoid cow milk. I was looking for a coffee shop and though Kauai does have a lot of options, this spot had 5 stars. We were staying nearby, so we biked over for our morning coffee. I had the coconut latte and my husband had their cold brew. The drinks were amazing!! Smooth and flavorful! We also grabbed a strawberry lillikoi muffin to go. Sadly, we spotted by on our last day so we didn't get a chance to come back but it's definitely one of the best coffee shops I've been to!! read more

Acknowledged coffee snob here. I was in Kauai for 2wks and it took me a couple tries to find someone who really knows how to make a good cup of coffee. Imua is out of the way (in Kauai, that means 1 block off the main drag) but is definitely worth the very slight detour. Hand picked coffee bean varietals, beans roasted there on site. From the descriptions posted of the coffee, you can tell the owner knows his coffee and it is even more evident in the drinks themselves. The menu is simple: mostly coffee (there've been 2 daily brews w/ all the standard coffee drinks also available). I see teas available as well. There's a small selection of freshly made baked goods. Imua is definitely my go to for coffee in Kauai read more

IMUA Coffee Roasters is an importer and small-batch roaster of fine coffees. Each batch is closely monitored and roasted to achieve the best possible flavors in each varietal. Our coffees are available at our full espresso bar, our website, many businesses on island or Papayas grocery store. In addition to our carefully selected coffees, which are organically grown and fair trade, including 100% organic and single origin Kona coffee, we offer a variety of drinks and plant-based food options. All are fresh and local ingredients. We are a 100% plant-based coffee shop. This means there is no dairy. If you do not want to try your coffee without dairy, you can still enjoy our wonderfully roasted beans. We service 12 local coffee trucks/coffee businesses/bakeries on island that brew our beans or even purchase a bag at the health grocery store Papayas. We do free deliveries of our beans on island. Welcome to our fully vegan coffee shop on Kauai! My wife and I own and operate the coffee shop and roastery alongside our amazing staff. She manages our house-favorite banana bread, wholesale accounts, and accounting, while I roast the coffee and jump in for barista shifts with our wonderful team. We serve organic vegan baked goods, bagels, house-made organic chai, matcha, hot chocolate, and, of course, a variety of coffee options—including cold brew, pour-over, lattes, cappuccinos, and espressos. I currently roast all our beans on-site, but as our roastery continues to grow, that may change! For now, you’re welcome to stop by and watch me roast on Sundays and Mondays. In addition to coffee, we offer our popular avocado and monkey toast for a heartier option. We also deliver to several other coffee shops across the island, from the north shore to the south shore. Free WiFi is available for all our customers.

Also, if you place an online order, they add an 18% gratuity to the order. I'm sorry. It's one thing to require an 18-20% automatic gratuity at a restaurant for large parties but for picking up takeout breakfast sandwiches and coffee I don't really think anyone should be forced to pay a gratuity for takeout. It's not table service, it's takeout and that really should be optional for the customer regardless of whether they order online or in person. In the future, unless I'm really pressed for time (we were on that particular occasion as we had a Na Pali boat excursion to get to), I would just wait in line and avoid the online ordering.

The vibe is nice, clean, friendly staff. We got a strawberry matcha milk, 2 Mac nut lattes, 2 breakfast burritos with Portuguese sausage, and a cinnamon roll. The good: the coffee was great, both iced and hot it was consistently good. The cinnamon roll was a cross between a roll and a muffin and that combo is pure genius . The icing was generous and not overly sweet, we loved it. Strawberry matcha milk was delicious, smooth, and creamy. The meh: the burritos were just okay , the man hero cheese added an odd tart flavor that didn't seem to fit and the Portuguese sausage was ground and lacked flavor. I would have preferred sliced sausage . Not terrible just not worth getting again. Overall, I would recommend this place.

This is the best coffee shop we experienced in all of Kauai, and I felt so amazed that it was the closest one to our room, AND that we found it on our very first morning in Hawaii. They offer a completely vegan menu, and I didn't even have to pay extra for oat milk! Baked goods are amazing, swag very cute and stylish. Service was great, thanks to the staff for working so hard! They do get busy for just two people on hand to prepare all the specialty drink and delicious chia pudding bowl orders and such, so be patient and you will be rewarded with some of the best coffee on the Island. read more

Yay! Wailua now has an AWESOME easy place to get a quick great quality coffee or latte! Not to mention they have a nice selection of gluten free and/or vegan muffins, baked for them by Small Town Coffee. Super stoked! Such a cool location, next to Islander on the beach and Trees Lounge. They have a nice quiet out door shaded sitting area with free wifi and lots of chairs & tables. OMG, I LOVE this organic, specially roasted coffee! I have now ordered this coffee over 9 months (even though I live in Canada) because it is the best. I am grateful the owners take the time to tell me the best way to take care of the coffee (whether to put in the freezer, grind in batches, etc) so that I can maximize the bean. I met the roaster at taste of Hawaii last weekend. He was nice and helpful. They were roasting beans on a 1lbs sample roaster outside. That was pretty cool. Good coffee, good service. A little tough to find their shop though. They have a sick diedrich roaster in their shop. read more
