Cute little place in Hanapepe town. Went on a Sunday with fam to grab a little pick me up before starting our morning. I got the cold brew with the PB&C, SIL got the Just Ube Latte, and niece got white chocolate milk (white mocha minus da coffee). The staff behind the counter were on it. We didn't have to wait long between ordering and waiting for our drinks to come out. Also, they give kamaaina discount. Yessaaahhh! Cold brew was smooth and da hit of pb foam was pretty good. SIL was happy with her ube drink. They have few tables inside but also have outdoor seating the back that they share with the other businesses. We were looking for a latte in Hanapepe yesterday as we waited for our hotel room to become available. I noticed two of the businesses I had frequented there were no longer in business. Piling Coffee was in the same area so we went in. As I was looking over the menu, I was asking if they had Mac nut lattes. The person there explained that Pilina specialized in some specific coffee drinks. In the explanation he said they have three house-made cold foams; one was coconut. So we ordered cold brews with a little sf vanilla syrup and some of the coconut cold foam. W-O-W, it was one of the best coffees I have had! Stop in and let the staff explain what makes them special. Pilina's matcha was outstanding--easily comparable to ceremonial matcha spots in LA (and yes, we Southern Californians can be pretty snobby about our matcha). I'd even argue Pilina tops LA thanks to the warm, lovely service, high-quality drinks with unique Hawaiian flavors, a cozy seating area, and a small back patio that smells like buttery Popo's Cookies. I ordered a regular iced matcha and another with ube cold foam. The cold foam was not overpowering and complimented the matcha well. The ube flavor was rich and not artificial. Pilina's is a must try on the island. I wish I tried the haupia cold foam! read more

Happened upon this coffee shop while visiting Hanapepe one morning to see the galleries. Had the most delicious vanilla scone and latte - what a treat. Aromatic and tasty locally roasted coffee. Turns out it was only their 4th day in operation! Off to a great start! Had to bring my husband back a few days later before heading back to the mainland. This time I tried the dragonfruit scone - melt in your mouth divine. The owners are welcoming, the service friendly and attentive.
