Lil Green alien smoothie was so good and I felt good giving some to my 1 year old to get some spinach and fruit in. I don't recommend loco moco. Gravy had zero flavor, and that's what I typically get most excited about. Patty was overcooked. Eggs were cooked perfectly, though. Sadly we threw it out. BUT, their homemade Portuguese sausage is yummy! We had it in sandwich and burrito. Line gets long but moves at a decent pace. It's cute little outside dining was perfect for a quick breakfast. This was the best breakfast we've had in a long time! Definitely the best on the island. It was absolutely delicious and the Maui Mocha was the best latte I have ever had. Not too sweet. Of course when visiting Kauai, trying their coffee is a must! What better than the well known Java Kai!! Got the mac nut iced coffee and Maui mocha iced coffee and I must say that they were both delicious. The macadamia nut flavor subtly comes through with the rich blend of coffee with a pleasant aftertaste. The Maui mocha gradually grew on me with each sip. The mocha flavor compared to other mocha coffees I've had on oahu can best be compared to dark chocolate vs milk chocolate taste. As a person who prefers dark chocolate the Maui mocha tasted more bolder with a slight bitterness that worked well with the sweetness of the drink. The ambiance is outdoor seating and parking can be a bit of an issue as the location is a popular spot for tourists and locals. The service was above average. With the mass influx of customers at busy hours, the staff did their best to accommodate everyone's orders on time. read more

Tried coming a couple times while staying in po'ipu....there was a line both times but we didn't try that hard. You can order online. We got the Portuguese egg sandwich that surprisingly had nuts in it, a fruit plate, and two coffees. Kid finished the fruit plate prob would not recommend the Portuguese ground sausage and egg sando. I was shocked when I ate here because it's better than most places in Los Angeles (which has a huge food scene). So when I saw a huge line outside of Java Kai I knew it was probably going to be better than the other offerings in the area. The line moves quickly, so it is 100% worth it to wait. This place was so good that I just came here everyday for my breakfast. I didn't even want to try anything else. And as, a Yelper, as a foodie, I am all about trying new places but Java Kai was that good. The coffee is strong and they also roast it themselves. It's local Kauai coffee and it gives you the nice perk to get through all the site seeing we were doing. Normally I would list each item that I had and then rate them but I am not going to do that this time because they all are stand out. Choose what sounds best to you and it will will not dissapoint! I must mention though that their bakery, whoever makes the bagels, the broiche buns, and the muffins is top tier professional. The lemon ginger muffin and the lemon bar was out of this world. I am seriously considering another trip back to Kauai just to have more of those muffins. They had a DJ on Saturday that played electric music which kept it feeling kinda hip and happening. Food-wise, the salad niçoise was fresh, flavorful, and allergy-friendly (the staff was so accommodating ). My friend got the breakfast burrito and summer noodles and RAVED about it. Java Kai is a winner every single time we come visit Kauai. We probably came here like 5 times during our week here. The food is incredible. The service is great and the ambiance is perfect. You are literally right below this gorgeous tree and even when it rains (just be careful with your step) it's just what you need during a vacation. I got the power bowl 2.0 and it was everything I want in a breakfast bowl - some greens, eggs, perfectly cooked potatoes, and I swapped in some delicious Portuguese sausage. We came here pretty much every morning of our trip for coffee and it's great, highly recommend! The coffee drinks are delicious. I love how their flavored lattes aren't too sweet, they didn't overdo it on syrups which is nice. They use high quality ingredients, you can also tell. But the coffee was so bitter we ended up throwing away our lattes bc they tasted bad. We ordered pick up on square to avoid the lines and were charged an 18% gratuity. Visiting from LA, it's hard to find a spot open early enough to accommodate the time change. So for example, 6 am local time is 9 am back home which means time for some breakfast!! Luckily this spot opens at 6 so we came here twice during our stay. Loved the Portuguese sausage sandwich (seems to be homemade sausage not the typical slices you'd expect) it was delicious!! Also the breakfast wrap with the kalua pork hit the spot. Do not skip out on the Saturn burger with the purple potato salad!!! The greens and the bun made it taste light and fresh. The potato salad was herby and had just the right touch of sweet. This location is outdoors so be wary the seats might be damp from a morning rain but it's much bigger than the Kapa'a location so I prefer this one.
