I should be apologizing for to the locals around me who are coming for their daily bread. The lines are long - rightfully so - but anticipation isn't built quickly. Block off your morning for this. Hanalei Bread Company will be the reason why I waste my retirement savings and my children's college fund for a 1/6 ownership in a condo I can't afford. Surely they can't do bread AND great coffee. Bury me in property taxes too. The macchiato (there's only one kind) was perfectly creamy, strong, and served in a perfectly sized 3 oz cup. Don't leave the island without coming here. This place was mentioned on quite a few Kauai itineraries and I understand why. Its nice establishment across the street from the Ching Young Village. They closed at 1230 so we got there around 11. Unfortunately, by that time most of the baked goods were gone. There was one blueberry muffin left and it tasted great! I also ordered a tropical smoothie and it tasted so fresh and refreahing! I only wanted to comment on the macadamia nut and banana bread and I made this Kauai visit determined to find the best banana nut bread. 11/10 and this includes spots in Kapaa and Lihue. Waited all week to give this place a try outside of the coffee. They do have extremely das service. Everyone is very nice and friendly. The decor and feel of the place fits the Hanalei vibes for sure and it's great that it's open seating indoor and outdoor. The coffee is great! I got the Cold Brew both times. The food is great. Nothing absolutely spectacular but it is very fresh. The bread on the sandwiches is light and fluffy. I had a Rueben, a Breakfast burrito and the fancy toast with Gluten Free Bread (just to try it). The Gluten free bread is amazing and some days they have gluten free banana bread which was just amazing! All the food is fresh and tasty with great flavor profiles. Over a few visits, we tried the avocado toast, apple ricotta toast, peanut butter banana toast, breakfast burritos, mocha, latte, and tropical smoothie -- everything was consistently good. My personal favorites: the tropical smoothie (so fresh and vibrant), the breakfast burrito (the salsa on the side is surprisingly amazing), and the apple ricotta toast -- sweet, rich, and definitely one to share. And of course, a mocha to end the meal. Highly recommend starting your day here if you're in Hanalei. Just a heads up -- lines can get long when placing your order at the counter. A beautiful and bustling spot in a little shopping center with a lot of pretty stores right by Hanalei Bay. Service was friendly, and food came out pretty quickly. The Matcha Latte with vanilla bean syrup was really good, and the mango and guava pastry was delicious, flaky, and not too sweet but the sandwich fell flat for me. Not bad, but in my opinion way too much bread, super thick slices compared to the filling the filling and I found it to be pretty bland, especially considering it's expensive. We had the Avocado toast, Peanut Butter and Banana and a Fancy toast. All of these were yummy. The bad: we also ordered and paid for a couple pastries which were forgotten by the staff. Thankfully, when I asked the person who delivered our toasts, she chalked it up to a new person behind the register and packed up our pastries to go. On our trip to Hanalei Bay, we had to stop by for coffee somewhere. This was the somewhere. Easy to park, easy to access, and easy to drink/eat. It's kind of an open-air shop with plenty of options to order, but we just wanted something small. The employee at the register was patient, and waited for us to decide on our two drinks and a mac nut banana bread. After we ordered, we sat down outside and munched on the bread while we waited on the coffee. The bread itself was soft, moist, and full of flavor! This was quite good, so if you come here, consider it! The coffee came out a little later, and I just remember it being a little less tasty than I had had on the island previously in the trip. It wasn't anything to write home about, but it also wasn't bad. Very middle of the ground coffee, but that's alright. I still enjoyed my time here, and I'd come back just for the bread! read more

While dining at Bar Acuda, we were told the Hanalei Bread Company is an awesome place for breakfast. We headed there today and it didn't disappoint. Any restaurant with 10-20 people in line constantly is a good indicator its food is worth the wait. I really appreciate a restaurant that tells you your order is made from scratch, so don't expect it to come out fast. What we got: Chai spice smoothie was very unique and I craved it almost every day during our recent trip. One of the most beautiful areas on the island and one of the best breakfasts I had!!! Firstly this place can get BUSY with not a lot of seating so be prepared. It's fast paced so you'll definitely end up finding somewhere if you wait. Just look at the food pics holy moly. The club sandwich was clubbbbbbing that was the fattest sandwich I've ever seen in my life and totally worth it. I got the fancy toast which was delicious. Even the available bowl came out quick and was equally as delicious!! The coffees were amazing and gulped down. The staff are all really nice. We got lucky and all pastries were 50% so we grabbed a banana bread too which was gone so quickly I didn't even take a photo. My only issue is how rude the customers are omg. Everyone around us felt the need to be so entitled. But nothing to do with the restaurant just be aware they will ruin your breakfast slightly! Such a wonderful area to spend the morning at. Great place to swing by if you are in the area. They serve breakfast and is about the only coffee house that is open early hours. Was looking for a place that serve açaí bowls and this is where Yelp took us. It's in the cute town of Hanalei. Be ready for a slight wait as this place is always busy but moves steadily. Prices are a bit on the higher end for a coffee shop. They sell fresh bread here too. They only have outdoor seating so be ready to have some company, the chickens haha. read more
