Ibz has been my pau hana destination almost every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for 10 years! My husband and I frequent the bar when we know Coby, aka Jacob, is working. He is exceptional at his job, great drinks, great karaoke, great music videos, all the while maintaining a safe and entertained crowd! It has become apparent that many feel the same way about Coby as we do. He has a lot of regulars that we've come to know through the years. More props to Coby for dealing with the influx of tourists that usually end up at the bar Friday evenings with only an hour or two left of his shift. Sometimes it'll be upwards of 25 people coming in at the same time. He does a great job of making sure all orders are taken as people come in and he does this as the only bartender working!! *It is an added benefit that Tim is working with Jacob on Saturday and Sundays! 2 of my favorite people!! read more

First ever gay bar I went too. And it was in Hawaii with my AirBNB host. He was chill and this place was pretty chill. Hidden in the alley near the beach, In between is literally in between buildings haha. They had karaoke night when I came and lots of people made their requests. The vibe was amazing and the bartenders were really nice. It's a small bar, but it has one of the most chillest vibes ever. You can easily make friends with the folks who frequent the place. Service is top notch, very attentive and friendly. They even had a go at karaoke night. Drinks were delicious as well. Failure for straight couple attempting karaoke. Waited, Seated, no service first 10 minutes. The QR code at our table for karaoke songs didn't work. Finally bouncer answered question how to get a song on list.... To pick song (from qr that doesn't work) then write number (with pen that doesn't work) and hand to server (who may or may not exist). At that point we were asked to leave, surely for my curt observations. At least we didn't waste much time or money getting straight to the point. read more

Super small, cozy lil gay bar right in between Kuhio and Kalakaua (hence the name). Bartenders are always friendly and drinks are good. Big mugs for draft beers. They have different drink specials for every night of the week. Happy hour every day 12-8pm. There is also karaoke. Since the place is so tiny, the singing is very loud and in your face so if your looking for somewhere quiet and secluded then this is not the place. But it's nice how sometimes someone starts singing a song and everyone in the damn bar be singing it too, lol. There's only about 3 small tables against the wall, then the bar seating which is like 8-10 seats I believe. There's always loads of people standing in this place, it gets poppin after midnight. So we stumbled upon this place located in an area almost smaller than an alley way and I'm so glad my girlfriend spotted this hidden gem. They were so friendly as soon as we walked in and we felt like we had stepped into our home away from home. Honestly I've never been in a place with such warm and welcoming people not even back home. It was a big stress reliever to just be in a place and feel excepted because honestly it's tough out here. Stopped by here to celebrate my friend's birthday and it was fun. Reasonably priced drinks and cheap karaoke are great reasons to come here. This place is cozy and located between two buildings (hence the name of the business). During karaoke, whenever someone sang, everyone else in the bar joined in, which made it more fun. It's a small hole in the wall that's always packed on the weekends, with great deals on the weekdays too.. if karaoke is your thing, then In Betweens is the place to go - as they update their song list pretty often, which is always a plus if you're into more mainstream music. The talent that walks through here is amazing, and sometimes almost intimidating.. but everyone's super friendly and everyone pretty much knows each other since the bar is frequented by regulars from he gay scene, and what homo doesn't love to sing!? Lol. And no, you don't have to be gay to enjoy In Betweens, nor do you have to know how to sing. Aloha Friendly Hawaiians! Definitely caught this place at it's best and worst. Worst because of a power outage, they weren't their usual self with singing Karaoke. I missed the bar a couple of times because its location is definitely In-between somewhere. Best because the patrons that were there were friendly and gracious. I met Harmony who invited me to join her and her friends for an evening of authentic Hawaiian music at the Imau lounge the next evening. If all bars were this welcoming, they would have my business all the time. Everyone was great. This bar is the best bar to go to belt out your highest notes in front of a small and energetic crowd. It can get a little crowded on the weekends since it's such a small bar which is why I like walking in on weekdays. On weekends the song queue can get as long as 20 songs and it can get hard to move around. Fun is what you make of it. This REALLY small bar can be amazingly fun if you let it. Enjoy the beautiful voices of the locals on the mic as if they're auditioning for American Idol. You can't even be mad at them though - they're so adorable! $1 a song isn't that bad either, but you better know what types of songs or artists you like because you can't browse through artists or songs. Extensive song selection for karaoke (one of the only places I can find Dolly Parton's 'Applejack'!). Great drinks and drafts. Great bartenders (most of which also happen to have extraordinary singing voices... including my personal favorite [and friend], Gary)! Yes, it's a small bar, but makes it more acoustic for karaoke... and more intimate. Go on the right weekend, and you're bound to make several new friends! If it's busy, there's also mounted iPads in the bar you can use to search for your karaoke numbers (can search by song or artist). If you're visiting, this place is definitely worth a weekend stop on your trip. Weekday evenings can be fun, too, but you're bound to hear more talented local singers intermingled with the other karaoke singers on weekends. You're welcome! read more
