Drinks here were great. Unfortunately that was the only thing I can say was great. We were super excited to find a speakeasy and we had no trouble locating it and entering it. Unfortunately once we were in, there was absolutely no good service to speak of. We sat at the bar and were served water and drinks, but waters were not refilled once in the hour we were there, even though we had 5 drinks between the two of us. We usually enjoy talking with the bartenders but there was no conversation whatsoever and many times they were just standing there on their phones or talking. I know I sound like a bitch right now but we live in Vegas and both are in the industry, so we love talking to tourists and getting stories and hearing about everyone, so this was just a shock for us. Honestly, the drinks were good so please go enjoy them. But don't.be surprised if your waters aren't refilled or the bartenders act like you aren't there.

The servers are laid back and very nice! Good at conversations. This speakeasy is located in the White Sands Hotel, I'd say the cocktails are very experimental for sure. Our cocktails were good. The three times a lady was sweet and fruity and nice. The twin telepathy was tequila focused and fresh, strong. Decorated pretty inside, got a little hot though I must say. They have plenty of seating outdoors and some inside! Great music playing all night.

A cool, little hidden speakeasy inside of the White Sands hotel. When you walk in the hotel, before the hotel desk, the door is on the left, hidden as part of the bamboo wall. The space is small, there is an interior space and a (mostly) covered patio. Expect well made, and pricy, cocktails. We of course ordered the green options. A cool bar to check out in Waikiki.

Came here with my girlfriends after finding it on Yelp. It was a 17 min walk, but it's Hawaii. It was a nice walk. It's a speakeasy and we enjoyed trying to figure out how to open the door haha. They were BUSY, good sign though. They were short staffed with one bartender and one sever. We were enjoying the beautiful patio and music so we did not mind the wait. The drinks were all worth the wait as well. We enjoyed every single one of them! Definitely will be back and would recommend. Outside the speakeasy there's a poolside bar with swings. It was really cute. Unfortunately they were closed at the time we showed. If you like good cocktails that are actually worth the price, this is your place.

If you're looking for one of Honolulu's coolest speakeasy-style lounges, The Green Lady is a must-find hidden gem. It's a little tricky to locate, but once you step inside, you're instantly rewarded with a warm, cozy vibe that's perfect for chilling with friends. The drinks here are top-notch--creative, expertly crafted, and consistently excellent. The staff matches the quality of the cocktails: polite, attentive, and genuinely friendly. A little heads-up: they don't serve beer, but that's a minor trade-off for the high caliber of cocktails on offer. Whether you're catching up with buddies or just want a laid-back spot to savor a fantastic drink, The Green Lady delivers. One of Honolulu's best-kept secrets for a reason.

Nowadays, they call everything a speakeasy. But the Green Lady Cocktail Room really did feel like a true speakeasy. We entered the hotel and passed the door without even noticing. It was hidden and easy to miss! The White Sands hotel is a renovated older hotel tucked away off of Kuhio. If you can't find it, ask the lobby for Room 8. They'll point you in the right direction to find this tucked away cocktail bar. It's a true cocktail bar. It's just focused on cocktails (and mocktails!) Entering into this place gave me white lotus vibes. It was dark and moody. I loved the ambiance! They had a great menu of options. I tried two of the mocktails and enjoyed both! They had a mocktail that was served in a cute little coupe - I love when they're able to make a mocktail in a neat style. My favorite was the thoughts and prayers though. It was a pandan drink with great flavor! Green Lady is worth a visit! Without realizing it, we stayed for hours and it was full by the time we were leaving close to 11pm.

Cute lil speakeasy tucked away next to the hotel. My boyfriend and I came here to spy on our friend's Hinge date. We gave them their privacy so we chilled at a different bar for a bit before coming by. BIG MISTAKE. My bf and I were completely lost and were gonna resort to the pool bar, presuming that she had gotten kidnapped. However, right as we were about to accept defeat, the magical door opened and we stepped right into this wonderland....... When you enter, you're met with the indoor lounge, which you can chill with friends at some cozy tables and sofas. As you traverse through the lounge, you then escape to a cute lil backyard where it's romantically lit by torches. Made it a little hard to locate the couple we were spying on but my bf is pretty tall so we spotted them!! We casually ordered at a faraway cocktail table as to give the lovebirds their privacy. The two drinks we got were pretty darn exquisite. Their menu offers unique flavor combos and categorizes them on a scale of how adventurous you're feeling! Great drinks to sip while eavesdropping. Would recommend!

Drinks were really good here! When we came we asked if we could move a couple chairs and the employee seemed really annoyed we even asked, then sat us outside in the rain & took forever to come back to take our orders. But we still came back it was a nice ambiance and good tasting drinks

Great place. We were looking for something chill and cozy. We were glad to find this place, which was open pretty late compared to other ones. Cocktails are very unique and pretty tasty. I love the music style, it also wasn't too loud either, so we were able to talk.

Hidden speakeasy behind bamboo doors (Ask for Room 8)! Located inside the White Sands Hotel. Met some friends here for a Friday nightcap. Popular spot. Nice hip and trendy ambiance. First come first serve, no reservations. Opens 8pm. We got there around 8:30pm and it was already full of people! Limited seating inside and most seating outside (humid, so don't wear anything heavy). Everyone in our group tried different cocktails and seemed to enjoy it, but I chose the La Clandestine 53' absinthe on the rocks since I haven't had that since living in Paris. It is under the "Green Lady Drips" on the menu. It is an acquired taste, but worth trying if you've never had it. This might be one of the only places in Hawaii that offer a selection of absinthe. Service was nice. Parking is the biggest con - quite expensive for valet so I suggest parking somewhere else that validates with purchase. Worth checking it out!

I love this speakeasy! It easy to find but also hidden in the best way. The cocktails are so good and the vibes are great! We came here during our vacation multiple times because we loved it so much!

What an amazing hidden gem inside the White Sands Hotel! Push the bamboo door open & step into the adorable speakeasy! The decor is beautiful, warm environment, lots of candles, cozy seating. Bartender wa very nice, there's an indoor & outdoor area. Go early before it gets too packed! Drinks were strong & tasty. Opens at 8pm.

Love the Tiki bar era ambiance of this speakeasy hidden behind a bamboo wall. It has 70's mystique complete with black velvet curtains and a portrait of the Green Lady. I had "Three Times a Lady" which was a delicious vodka based drink with coconut, yuzu, calamansi and lime garnished with a kaffir lime leaf. Classy cocktail and not too sweet. Highly recommend! The Singapore Sling was pretty and pink but not as amazing.

Plan for reservations well in advance because you're going to want to sit at the bar. That's where the storytelling is center stage. From the outside, you'd easily miss it. To my surprise, on a Sunday evening after having dinner nearby at Maze, my wife and I walked over to Bar Leather Apron and we were able to get seated right away! In fact, around 7:30 p.m. when we stopped by, there was actually a ton of seating available in the bar. Who would've guessed. If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Definitely worth a stop by if you enjoy the art of mixology.

It is why you've searched for EP bar, looked over various reviews, and randomly found yourself reading thru the first few lines of this review. Well, welcome Dear Reader, and I hope what I'm about to share peaks your interest to visit EP Bar. I had my 2nd visit to EP Bar earlier this month with friends for some after dinner drinks. We did make a res, but there were some walk-ins while we there, so it's probably recommended but not necessary. We perused the menu, and our 1st round consisted of: Ringo Star Strawberry Fields Forever Pho Us By Us Hail Mary Any guesses on the drink I chose? It's related to the Beatles. If you guessed Ringo Star.....take another guess. The Strawberry Fields Forever was very refreshing. Recommended. My partner ordered the Hail Mary, which (sadly) wasn't to his liking, and he happily "helped" me finish my drink before ordering his own in the next round. I chose the Ringo Star as my next drink, and I'd say if you're a fan of Mr. Star and/or apples, this drink is right up your orchard. Recommended. SERVICE The service is friendly, mixed with a splash of polite, and served with patience and knowledge. BOTTOM LINE A great place for drinks. Casual ambiance/vibe and relaxed atmosphere. Recommended.

Fifteen minutes west of Waikiki, you'll find yourself in a completely different Hawaii…read more Honolulu's Chinatown feels worlds away from the beachfront resorts and postcard-perfect sunsets. The neighborhood is vibrant, gritty, and alive--a mix of Chinese, Southeast Asian, and Native Hawaiian influences layered over historic buildings, glowing neon signs, art galleries, and hidden cocktail dens. It reminded me a bit of New Orleans: worn facades with stories to tell, creative energy around every corner, and the sense that the best experiences are often tucked behind an unassuming door. Which makes it the perfect home for EP Bar. "EP" stands for Extend Play, a fitting name for a place built around music. Long before listening bars became fashionable in Los Angeles, New York, and London, there were the jazz kissa of Japan--small cafés where people gathered not to drink or dance, but to listen. Records spun through carefully tuned sound systems while patrons sat immersed in the music. The music wasn't background noise. It was the main event. Walking into EP Bar, you can feel traces of that tradition. The room is intimate and inviting. Reservations are highly recommended because the place fills up quickly on weekend nights. Once inside, the atmosphere hits a sweet spot. The music is loud enough to create a mood and provide privacy for conversation, yet never so overpowering that it dominates the room. Loud enough to muffle the secrets being shared between old friends. Loud enough to drown out the office gossip that somehow followed everyone from the coffee machine into happy hour. The soundtrack isn't just playing--it's setting the tone. As an Old Fashioned guy, my choice was easy. I ordered a Oaxaca OF, which swaps traditional whiskey for mezcal. Smoky, balanced, and memorable, it felt like the kind of drink that rewards slow sipping between tracks. Another member of our group went with the Pho Us By Us. To nobody's surprise except perhaps her own, it tasted a little salty. Considering the ingredients--Green Chile Vodka, Sake, Pho Spice, Lemon, and Soda--it was probably the most honest cocktail description I've ever seen. The drink tasted exactly like its name suggested. That's part of the fun here. The menu doesn't hide behind clever marketing. Drinks like Thai Me Down and Candy Rain practically dare you to order them. Not every note landed perfectly. Service was a little off-beat during our visit. But like any live performance, sometimes the rhythm isn't flawless. Thankfully, the vibes, decor, music, and overall experience more than carried the set. What I appreciated most was that EP Bar doesn't feel like a gimmick. It feels like a genuine continuation of a tradition that began decades ago in Japan's listening cafés, traveled across oceans, and found a home in Honolulu's Chinatown. It's a place where music matters, conversation flows, and the pace of the evening slows down just enough to appreciate both. The place slaps for what it is--and for what it isn't. In a world increasingly filled with distractions, EP Bar invites you to do something refreshingly simple: sit down, have a great drink, listen to great music, and be present. I'll definitely be back. After all, every good record deserves another spin, and I'm curious to see how the needle lands next time.
