In betweens is one of my favorite gay karaoke bars. If you love musicals or old school songs, you'll hear a lot of 'em here. In betweens usually has an older crowd, but there's still a good age range that come here for some good times. It's pretty friendly here. I brought my straight friend once, and some random dude buys us a drink. My friend was like, "That's the first time someone who i didn't know has ever bought me a drink!" lol Personally, for me, this is my go-to spot to kickstart the nite whenever I'm in Waikiki. It's a nice cozy place to chill at (although it can get pretty stuffy from time to time). It can be a bit tricky to find if you don't know where the hell you are going. That's because it's in between buildings, hidden from view. Hence, the name. Just go down Lauula St. Turn left immediately after Ginza Won restuarant, go past the outside staircase, and you'll see In Betweens. I have no idea how or why we ended up here the other night, but we did. The name "In Between" works perfectly. In Between is a cozy little bar, tucked away "in between" some buildings and ish in Waikiki. (I was pretty wasted, so I can't really accurately describe anything.) I know they have karaoke bc one of my friends sang a song. The bartender was super cool and friendly. He really had my back. I drunkenly spilt my water and he got me a new one right away. It might have seemed a little quicker than it actually was bc, like I mentioned earlier, I was wasted. (But conscious enough to check in! Hah.) Overall, a great time was had. InBetween really is just that..In between a lot of buildings and can be easily passed so look carefully for the signs or know someone who has been there before. It is a simple down to earth karaoke bar that pours up cocktails. Located right in the middle of Waikiki (behind Prada on Waikiki) it offers a small and cozy bar with a few booth areas. It is on the smaller side and can become quickly crowded on busy nights. It isn't anything fancy, just simple and humble. The bartenders pour up the cocktails in rapid succession. Be sure to check out their happy hour for what can best be described as one of the best drink deals in town. Otherwise, prices are very decent and considering it is Waikiki, a pretty good deal. This is my favorite dive bar ever. I was here in August and I brought back a posse of travelers since we were attending a wedding in May 2013. Super friendly, all different styles of $1 Karaoke. All kinds of people - we met so many great people. Cheap drinks - tiny space - jovial chatting. I walked here from my hotel the first trip and it was worth the cab ride the second trip. Don't pay a cover at one of the other local joints filled with rude people. Come here or got to a beach bar, and laugh you butt off. No windows, behind a dumpster in an alley... Since my favorite bar closed down, I guess this one bumps up to take its spot. During the day, In Between makes for a mellow get away from the touristy bustle with personable bartenders and strong drinks making for the perfect time to sing without those American idol btches taking over the karaoke. Jose will sing any duet with you if you are shy...expect to laugh with him...just don't expect him to sing on key. The evening is quite different. I'm more of a day drinker so my night bar experiences often end badly for someone sometimes. Each bartender brings in a certain crowd. Gary does still give me an ear boner when he sings. Robert, despite him pretending to be a pervert, really is a teddy bear....a Pervy teddy bear. -Don't expect bathrooms to be spotless. Women's bathroom is always gross.....(women, stop pissing on the floor and hold your damn liquor...do you really think drinking Midori sours, buttery nipples, and "make me something sweet" will not cause you to throw up? -this may only pertain to me, but if you bought a stein, it may have been "accidentally" thrown away. -in Between is below a porn shop...expect there to be a few druggies in the area, but most of the bartenders at In Between have been really good about not having that spill into the bar. This bar has extremely cheap beverages. It's very small and quaint. I enjoyed the atmosphere and most patrons in the bar. They had Karaoke songs you could chose from at the side Bar for $1.00. However, out of nowhere the bartender Jacob was extremely rude to me. I don't know if he was irritated because of other drunk people in the room; but I was only ordering my second drink. I felt extremely awkward and disrespected. He continued to yell at me as I went to my seat, saying: "I needed patience when ordering", but he had come up to me to take my order. Moments later he started yelling at another man. He was catering to his local friends who were drunk and obnoxious. He didn't care about tourist business. I am extremely disappointed with my visit, and will not be returning. Customer service is essential in a business. Jacob provided extremely poor, distasteful customer service. read more
