My partner spontaneously decided we should grab smash burgers on a Sunday evening as I had been craving them for the last couple of days, so I was particularly excited for this meal. When I went, the price was $11 for a double smash burger, $2 for bacon, $1 for grilled onions, and $3 for fries. At first bite, I thought the burger was tasty. However, the more I ate it, the more disappointed I got. The burger patty was not really smashed--it look like it got just lightly squished. That might not sound like a big deal, but with smash burgers, you want the thin, crisp patty that comes with actually smashing the patties down. Since I assumed they wanted the crust to that normally comes from smashing the patty, the patties ended up drying out. Despite it tasting dry, the burger overall felt really greasy. There was a pool of grease once you finish the burger as well. Side note, the smash burger typically comes with regular onions, so I assumed paying for the grilled onions would mean I would get grilled onions on top of the regular. That was not the case. I think I wouldn't have mind if these were also really solid grilled onions, but since they're so small in size and in portion, you didn't really get that yummy grilled onion-y flavor. The fries were decent, but the size was pretty small. It had good seasoning but didn't have the crisp/crunch that a really good fry would have. The price was only $3 so not that big of an issue in my books. Ultimately, I do feel like the place has promise. Maybe they were trying new cooks? When we had placed an order, the cashier turned to the people cooking and asked if they understood, and there was definitely some issues with communicating between the two as the cooks seemed to only understand Spanish whereas the cashier person didn't seem to know how to speak any spanish. Both parties seemed nice though! I just feel at this price point and with this portion size, the food needs to be stellar. The Burger Shop specializes in strictly smash burgers. They only offer burgers, Cajun fries and the only addition that can be made to the burgers is beef bacon. This place is strictly Halal and pride themselves on this. The burgers are very fresh and cooked to order, with that being said there might be a slight wait. The burgers come topped with cheese, lettuce, pickles, onions and their special sauce. The burgers are cooked to perfection, I love the crispy edges but the patties are still very juicy. They are seasoned to perfection and all of the toppings go very well together. I'm not sure what the special sauce is but it's quite unique and is a bit tangy. I've had the burger with and without the beef bacon and I have to say I prefer it without the bacon. I also think I'll start getting a double instead of a single, it's that good! The Cajun fries are very good too, they are thin shoestring fries covered in tons of seasoning and they have the perfect crunch and spice to it. The customer service here is amazing, the owner and employees are so friendly and the prices here are very reasonable.
