Love how attentive their staff are. Parking is plentiful with a public garage nearby (free for 90 mins). Location is in the heart of downtown San Jose right in front of city hall. Lots and lots of seating (inside and out). The smash burger has so much potential but I feel like the meat was not seasoned properly. You have to really eat it with their hot sauce. 3/5 The chicken sandwich, although smaller than most places, definitely had more flavor going. TL;DR: Have to say one of the best smash burgers I ever had. Tater tots were excellent too. Was in downtown looking for a good sandwich or burger place for lunch. Guess normally would go with french fries but decided to go with tater tots thinking it was the cheeky kind that you always get the frozen section at the supermarket but these were really good like almost double cooked so they're a little crispier. I went at 11:30 AM on a Friday and it was really crowded. Justifiably so because I believe the burgers here are excellent . Want to try their mushroom Swiss burger next time. I was in the mood for a burger this past Friday, and ended up here. Street parking was plentiful less than a block away on Santa Clara Street, and free after 6pm. The interior of the restaurant was clean, modern, and inviting, with both indoor and outdoor seating available. If you want the typa smash burger that has the crispy edges and laces, then Sixth Street is the way. I went for the 3/4lb burger which is a triple stack wagyu patty burger with cheese and Jalapeño. Hit my protein goal for the day with that one. In addition, our table ordered both the fries and the onion rings. They're both pretty good, onion rings slightly edge out the fries. The quality of beef is very good. To enhance the flavors they have many different ranch sauces that include jalapeño ranch and chipotle ranch. And lastly the milkshake was a nice treat-- I originally ordered the fresh banana but they ran out. Luckily the girl behind the counter understood my predicament and recommended strawberry blueberry which definitely was a nice compromise. I know this place is good because my stomach didn't hurt after eating and honestly didn't get those gross meat sweats/ fried food coma. Sixth Street Burger is the platonic ideal of a smash burger, exactly what you picture and crave when you conjure up an image of the American classic in your mind. Their double cheeseburger was excellent, topped simply with grilled onions, burger sauce, and a few slices of pickle. The fries, cooked in beef tallow, were perfectly crispy and seasoned, and you can ask for a side of ranch. As any lover of ranch will know, there is good ranch and bad ranch for dipping fries, and I'm pleased to report that Sixth Street Burger serves great good ranch. From top to bottom the meal was solid and I left without a single complaint. Beyond the food itself, the service was some of the best I've experienced in a while. Workers stopped by our table multiple times to check in and see if we needed anything, to offer drink refills and hot sauce, etc. It was a level of service you would expect from a nice sit-down restaurant, not a counter-service burger joint but it was greatly appreciated. I can see that I'm not the only one excited about Sixth Street Burger as it got pretty packed, even before noon on a random Tuesday. After dropping my son off at the state universities nearby, we found this place about two miles down the road. When we arrived, there was what looked like a lowrider show going on, which made the atmosphere even more fun. We parked and walked across the street to Sixth Street where the restaurant sits nicely on the corner. The space is pretty big inside with plenty of seating. We ordered from the kiosk and the food came out fresh and really good. The staff kept checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed, and they were great about refilling our drinks without us even having to ask. We felt very welcome the whole time we were there. This spot serves smash burgers and you can get them all kinds of ways. We ordered the Western burgers and they were amazing. The fries were good, the onion rings were good, and the shakes were a 10 out of 10--absolutely incredible. The tater tots were so nostalgic and really hit the spot. Honestly, we enjoyed everything we ordered. The burgers are very filling. I only ate half of mine and took the rest home. The next day I had it for breakfast and it was still amazing. The atmosphere is super casual, no frills with a menu stacked full of shakes, appetizers/sides to share, and mouth watering smash burger options. Right as you enter, you'll see kiosks on the right hand side which makes ordering a breeze. If you need to pay cash, I believe you can pay at the cashier as well. You'll need to find street parking nearby. Luckily the meters nearby are quite affordable at about $1-$2 per hour. The unhoused people outside can be aggressive so I would recommend coming during daylight if you're a solo diner. Smashburger - The meat patty was juicy although being thin in size. As far as seasoning goes, it was VERY well seasoned. Like to the point where is was too salty especially drenched in their housemade sauce and pickles. Bun was pillowy soft and delicious on its own. Overall, the burger was salty but not enough for me to stop eating. I just had to gulf down a few cups of water. Onion rings - Super crispy, tender sweet onions inside. Paired perfectly with the ranch. Highly recommend! French fries - Addictive in flavor and unique in taste being fried in tallow fat. My only note is to put less salt on their meat patties. Other than that, everything else is great! Sides are equally as good as the burger itself. The meal is quite filling and so much more satisfying than an in n out burger since the quantity is much more and the options are much better here. It was missing a balance of tomato lettuce to balance the meat. I paired it with onion rings, and I felt they were lacking moisture.
