I was intrigued when I saw a sign for gourmet salads at In n Out Java! I think they are geniuses though, because if there's anything this world needs it's healthy salads served through a drive-thru. I avoid fast food at all costs but sometimes you just want something on your way somewhere and you don't want to get out of your car. Coffee drive-thru is so obvious. Salad drive-thru is like next level! But how are the salads? The harvest salad (roasted sweet potatoes, pumpkin seeds, cranberries and goat cheese with apple vinaigrette, add chicken) was delicious. Next time I will order a custom though because the combination of toppings was a little too sweet for me. But they mean it when they say gourmet salads. They have a huge variety of really excellent salad toppings and there wasn't a leaf of iceberg in the greens mix. The portion was also really great for $8. The same salad costs me $15 at Dewey's. But salad isn't all they do. My kid ordered a hot steak breakfast bowl (at 3 in the afternoon) and said it was delicious. We also tried strawberry and peach smoothies which were awesome. I admit to going BACK the same day for a dirty chai iced latte, because obviously I can't write a review of a coffee place without getting coffee. It was good. I need to test out more before I can give a definitive about the coffee. But I fully plan to do that, while I perfect my salad combination! I notice you can order online and drive thru the other side of the building to pick-up. Also, they deliver through DoorDash. So there's really no excuse not to eat your vegetables (and get caffeinated)! read more

I absolutely love this place! I have never had anything I didn't like! What I love most about this restaurant is that it is small, locally-owned and, I believe, there are only three employees that work there. It has a small, cozy, family feel to it. Everything is made to order so there's no taking a frozen breakfast bowl out of the freezer, popping it in the microwave or oven to quickly warm it up and the handing it out the window to the customer. Everything is made fresh and, yes, it takes longer but you never mind the wait because you know you are going to be getting a high quality, delicious tasting breakfast or lunch. Even the muffins are nice and warm when given to you and wrapped up nicely to help it stay warm as long as possible! I also love that they are only open on weekdays till 2:30 and never on the weekends! Even though I miss getting my Highlander Grogg Latte and a warm chocolate muffin on a Saturday or Sunday, it makes me happy they model a good work / life balance. I almost hesitate to post this review because right now it feels like a nice little secret "hole in the wall" place you want to keep to yourself and you're a little afraid that they'll become too popular. Did I mention they feature Boston Stoker coffees? They hit the nail on my pumpkin pie latte. Where to begin? Delicious breakfast burritos and burrito bowls. Their breakfast sandwiches are fresh and filling. Everything here is made with care and the staff is top notch and friendly. Need a substitution? No problem! Recently, they opened their lunch menu called Salad Sage and holy cow! The southwest salad is my favorite and comes with lots of toppings. Protein can be added for an additional, but nominal cost. You can use the Heartland app to place a mobile order and pick up without waiting in line. This is a little drive thru only coffee "shop". You can get your staples like regular coffee, a latte, caramel macchiato, Americano, etc from the. I have gone two days in a row and every day they have different coffee of the day with flavors, i.e. pumpkin spice, toasted almond, buckeye, etc. The coffee is brewed well, no burnt or bitter taste like Starbucks has. I did try the caramel macchiato, and it was a little sweater than I prefer. On my latte, I requested my normal sugar and that was perfect. They appear to have to drive-thru windows, and at 7:30 am there are no more than 2-3 cars in line. read more
