This Starbucks location used to be great. Over the past year or so they have consistently gotten my order wrong. It can't be that hard to pour tea in a cup and add ice. An interesting location with difficult parking on a weeknight. The place was moderately busy when we stopped in and I had to circle the block to find a parking space. Service was good and my colleague picked up what he needed before we left. There are also some seats outside but they face directly west with little shade. Probably not great in the afternoon. I am continually very impressed by this location! I believe I have only completed mobile orders, but it is a great spot to pop in and out to grab my go-to drink. They are always ahead of time with preparation and have the friendliest faces upon entering and leaving! Like many other reviews, yes, the parking can be tricky. But that is a valid statement for the whole little shopping area. There are plenty of spots directly in front, to the sides and around back with a short walk. Today I stopped in to pick up a pound of coffee to go. There were 15-20 customers seated inside. They appeared to be mostly college age. I saw no social distancing and a total of TWO masks on all the customers. This is not a large area. I mentioned it to the barista. She was courteous but obviously not concerned. They even have a sign posted near the register spelling out the state wide mandate that requires masks. I told her in a nice way I would not be back. And I WON'T! read more

My usual Starbucks in the Dayton area is on Col Glenn. However, I have been taking a writing class and it meets at the Oakwood Starbucks. This is one of the most affluent areas of the city. The parking lot is littered with Lexus's, BMWs, and Mercedes. So I kinda like slumming it there with my older Honda CRV. My new favorite barista, whom I don't know his name, is at Oakwood. He is absolutely adorable. Blond hair and so nice. Tonight he let me use my Treat Receipt on a hot beverage. For this you get 5 stars! read more

This Starbucks was okay. They made my favorite drink, strawberry frapuccino, exactly how I liked it with soy and a banana. I also had a shot of Expresso and my order came out fast. The one issue I did have with this locator is that their tables and bar needed to be wiped down. I came in to do some work and had a hard time finding a clean place to sit. I've been to all of'em in and around the Dayton area, including the ones inside of Kroger and Target stores.. None of the other Starbucks can compare to the one in Oakwood, the people are the best (except for this one guy; tall, dark curly, greasy looking hair). I am not a big fan of any Starbucks. The coffee is overpriced, and all of their calorie-laden concoctions cover up what is otherwise a mediocre cup of coffee. I am always amazed at the length of the lines and the time people will stand in them to pay $5 for a cup of coffee and get a kick out of how anxious they are about getting the lingo correct. Be a free thinker and order small, medium, or large. I can assure you, they know what that means. An excellent instance of a well-designed and located Starbucks mid Oakwood high street. The staff are attentive, quick and bright and serve the highly reknowned coffee and delicious pastries and sandwiches. No WIFI though, which is a shame given the number of Oakwood school system and business customers at all times of the day and night. read more

There's no doubt about this, definitely the best Starbucks I've ever been to. Went through a pretty thorough renovation a few years ago and improved it drastically. As Starbucks go, this is a good one. Solid staff, decent coffee/espresso (I mean, it's Starbucks; you know what you're getting), and good space (maybe 6 four-seat tables, 1 six-seater, a half dozen two-tops, and an L-shaped bar area that seats 6-7, to go with 8 Barcaloungers). There's also a good amount of power outlets available. The big black eye for me is not anything about this particular locale, but SB's new Wi-Fi policy. I've been here 3 or 4 times since they employed said policy, which is that it boots your internet connection after something like 30-60 minutes (the times have been sporadic; perhaps based on the time of day or type of device you're using). It's not a massive deal, you just have to take 15 seconds to Re-"Accept & Connect". Pretty annoying.... That being said, it's still my favorite SB in the area. My overall rating here, considering everything is 3.5 stars. It would be a solid 4 if not for the Wi-Fi hitch. Update 5/28/15: The wi-fi issue I mentioned before has since been significantly improved. The speed is better and the "log on" process is much more streamlined (at least on my MacBook). As for the issue I had been having with getting booted after a period of time--I haven't been online for a long enough timeframe to confirm that it's been totally fixed, but it certainly is much better. 4 stars for sure, now. After going to the brown street location and not finding parking I came up here. They were quick. When I was leaving the person in front of me let go of the door and it hit my hand and knocked my drink out of my hand sending it crashing to the ground. I normally don't have problems with this Starbucks, as it is my local Starbucks. I was picking up my mobile order a bagel and a coffee and my bagel weren't there. I waited about 5 mins before asking about it and got a rude response back. I asked if I could get my money back and was ignored. The employees do not treat teenagers and young adults with the same respect as older adults. Just because I am a teenager doesn't mean I should be ignored. I was even asked if I ordered a bagel. In the end, this is my local Starbucks so I will someday have to return to it, but I would rather drive 10 extra mins to be treated with respect. read more

While every Starbucks seemingly has identical menus, vibes and atmosphere, this is my favorite SBUX in Dayton! It is made that way by the staff. They are friendly, took the time to know my first name and are quite prompt. They also have a meeting room in the back I have used for work related meetings. It costs some money, but the amount charged is given back to you in a SBUX gift card. This SBUX is definitely a head or two above the rest. read more

Never going back to this Starbucks. I was in town visiting and went to this Starbucks ordering the same drink I order at multiple different Starbucks multiple times per week. Unlike the rest of the Starbucks I've been to - this one charged extra for milk. I was shocked that this Starbucks would charge for something all the other Starbucks include in the cost of the coffee. After that experience - the next morning I went to Dorothy Lane Market for coffee. Good cup of coffee. Friendly people. Competitive pricing. Didn't charge extra for milk. I recently purchased a medium flat white (not a cheap drink) at this Oakwood location and was given the hot concoction without a sleeve. Seeing none around, I asked the barista if they were out of sleeves and he said that my particular drink didn't qualify for a sleeve, that only large sizes got one. Wow. My expression must have been incredulous because the guy reluctantly gave me a sleeve from his stash behind the counter. No, he wasn't just joking. So, at the Oakwood Starbucks, if your order isn't large enough to suit them, you can just scald your hands as far as they are concerned. I frequent all the coffee houses in the Dayton area during the course of my workday, and I stop at all the Starbucks. This one is the worst and will not get my business again. No other Starbucks in the area is as cheap and arrogant as this pathetic establishment. read more
