I don't enjoy writing negative reviews about ISCF Laguna, because most of the staff do their jobs and are friendly...BUT...this branch is in DESPERATE need of a manager that knows how to "manage" their employees. The Laguna location has been going downhill since Nusha left to manage Bond, which I hear is a great location. Since then, the managers are managers in name only. Since her departure, the other managers do not know how to manage. The current manager needs a manager to teach them how to do their job. They do not require the employees to do the job they're getting paid to do. The M-F morning housekeeper is great, but she should not have to spend her first few hours EVERY SHIFT doing the job the closing crew and the evening housekeeper from the last shift REFUSED to do! Trash EVERYWHERE this morning! Also the equipment was scattered on the floor, weight bars still had plates on them, dumbbells on the floor creating tripping hazards. When you go to the gym for a planned workout, you have in mind which equipment you're going to use. This morning, the machine I was going to use was broken, as was the backup. More than half of the machines need repair, with most of them not even tagged that they cannot be used! And once it is tagged, it'll remain unusable for months! Very disappointed with this daycare. My one-year-old son was having a hard time adjusting and was pulling hair, which is something that can happen with very young children. Instead of trying to work through the situation or using the separate room they already had available, they asked me to take him home. There were only two other kids there, and my son was the youngest. I expected more patience, understanding, and effort from a daycare that is supposed to care for young children and help them adjust socially. I understand behavior issues need to be handled, but it felt like they gave up very quickly instead of trying different solutions. read more

Adj: disappointing Women's locker room has been "remodeled," but turns out it was just paint and the shower heads replaced along with a little shower shelf added to each shower at the corner. One of them (the one closest to the toilet stalls) still doesn't drain properly and will back up badly and quickly while showering. And there continues to be the plumbing issue where there's not consistent hot water, but the water will go cold throughout the shower. Disappointing. Overall, the gym is in ok shape, but the "remodel" turns out to be a very minor update. No structural improvement or facilities changes made. We got all excited for nothing. =( read more

October 2025 this gym said both their men's and women's locker rooms are closed for remodeling and fixing their facilities. So when they finally said they reopened it after several months of work, we expected it to be quite a few changes for the better. No we didn't expect granite or quartz counter tops and showers, but we did expect some of the lockers to be moved around and the flooring and the drains to be moved to where they were efficient. Now imagine our disappointment when after all this time, the ONLY things changed was the shower heads, from small narrow ones to wider ones and the paint color, which was not even finished by the way. The painted walls are now blue instead of light sandy brown. The paint job didn't even cover the entire wall. Nothing of substance changed in their remodel. The lockers are not moved, the flooring is unchanged, and the drains are still in the worse possible areas away from the shower area allowing water pooling outside the shower themselves which have thresholds preventing water from being swept into the shower drains. All around a disappointment as, virtually no substantive changes have been made for 3+ months of work. To be fair, the rest of the gym is mostly in good condition, I've encountered a few machines out of order, but always found other ones that work so I could still use them, but the "remodel" expected of the men's locker room didn't really happen. read more

In Shape fitness was previously known as California Fitness. With the recent change in management, they have made several changes to the gym. I like the outdoor area for swimming. My kids love the kids gym. There have been several incidents, my son was bullied there. At times, it's the same child that has repetitive behavior problems. Although they contact the parents, the child is back again. I like the fact we can exercise while kids can play. I like some of their workout classes. But I hate the monthly gym price. read more

I've been a member since this club opened as Cal Fit in 2009 and let me tell you it's a much different gym. If you look past the consistently broken equipment, incredibly rude group fitness instructors to non-class takers, parents allowing their young children to run around and bother people in the spa (age 14+), and the fact it's being overrun by teenagers grouping around equipment talking or coming in full makeup and taking pics in all the mirrors, what really bothers me and has me considering cancelling my membership is the fact no one has responded to my 7/29 complaint about women disrespecting the privacy of other members and bringing their boys who are clearly over the age of 4 (at least 8+) into the women's locker room while women are showering and changing DAILY. Club management has ghosted me about this and the area manager still has not reached out to me despite being told they would. In Shape turned a very respectable gym into a kid-filled, self-obsessed teenage playland where women do not have privacy in their own locker room. On the bright side, the weekday morning staff are top notch and are the highlight of this club. read more

The prices don't match. The sauna room is BEYOND foul smelling. It's alway dirty and broken machines. Laguna location is so filthy and irritating asf to go to. Floors dirty. Trash always in sauna room. The whole place IS FILTHY. The outside pool area is nice but the inside is horrible, the smell inside of the sauna is horrendous, it's so bad I got a membership at planet fitness which doesn't have a sauna but outbeats this place with cleanliness, working machines, and hours. When it was owned by Family Fitness they had way better instructors for their classes and offered more classes, idk yall, this place is just horrible. Pool was always dirty-my bicycle was stolen -even though it was locked. Manager said it was the 3rd bicycle she knew about but company did not have a camera there. I had theft issues with my locker. I cancelled but they charged me again a month later and have no record of my cancellation -I used their on-line cancellation. Should have told my bank to stop payment but for some reason I thought management was more competent and trust worthy. read more

Very unhappy with the way they treat members of this gym, yesterday a manager his name is Travis treated my kids very bad he was racist and kicked my kids out of the gym and threatened them he was going to call the cops on them when they didn't do anything bad in the gym, Travis was following them around the gym and starring at them, my oldest son is 25 , my other son is 13 and my daughter 11 they were going to take my daughter to the daycare when this Travis guy approached them and told them to leave the gym now or he was going to call the cops, and he use fuzzing words to my kids, they have a membership there so if they weren't found nothing wrong why did he kicked them out and threatened them. This is discrimination I'm very upset , we have been members for more than 5 yrs and this is not the way to treat customers , I tried to contact the gym to speak with someone about this I put a message and no one has bother to call back. read more

I've been an In-shape customer for years since my college days but this particular one in Elk Grove seems too outdated. Most machines are always waiting to be fixed. I wish they can update their equipment similar to what they have in Stockton or Livermore. I skimmed through some of the reviews and many are very negative & that many machines are broken & it takes a long time to fix. I can't comment on that as this review is only for the pickleball court. They only have 2 courts and I waited about 30-40 minutes after each game. I really wish they had more indoor courts. It gets really busy on a rainy day/week since outdoor courts are way too wet to play on. They have specific hours for pickleball play time and when times up, the basketball folks are waiting and bouncing their balls & ready to play so get movín'. There's plenty of parking. read more

For the membership amount, this place has gone down in cleanliness very fast since in -shape took over. Family fitness used to keep it basic. Unfortunately, I am sad to see it not be able to keep up because this my local convenient gym. It's falling apart fast and needs help. It needs a better cleaning crew and they need to make sure they have soap and water at all times for the membership amount they bill their clients. Machines are out of service, mats are gross, there's dust daily on their machines. There's dust bunnies walking all over the floors. In shape please get it together! It's usually dirty. Not unusual to find trash, band aids, etc around the pool. The concrete by pool is all torn up making walking barefoot uncomfortable. Spider webs and weeds. Sticky side tables that appear to never have been cleaned. The bathrooms and dressing rooms are gross. Today I had to try 5 different stalls to find a "clean " one. Blood on the dressing room curtain. Hair and feminine product trash on the floor and wall. No soap in the dispenser I tried to use. Dirty prints on stalls. For the membership fee I expect more/ basic sanitation. This should be a priority. Management please do not give me your email address and ask me to contact you about what can be improved; it's all here and I'm saying the same things repeatedly. Update: back 5 days later. I come mostly 3 to 4 days a week. Today I went to Bond Rd. Noticed they have all brand new bike on the cycle room. Is there a reason Laguna has the same bikes that are out dated. Computers on them aren't working pedals broken since over 10 years? When will they receive new spinning bikes? Im sure im not the only one who has noticed. At Laguna the up keep of equipment is not a priority i feel. Is there a way to add more cycling classes also? Classes offered has diminished since Covid. read more

This gym had everything and more than i was looking for. It was super clean and the staff were extremely welcoming. Big shoutout to Julianna, she is always very sweet and very helpful. Unsure what the common denominator is here, possibly managerial?? Cleanliness is constantly lacking especially on weekends. No soap in the soap dispensers (how can I go to 4-5 soap dispensers on a weekly basis and find no soap) absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. Urine on the toilets seats, no toilet paper, garbage on the floor (how is there not like hourly checks for this stuff). Machines are constantly broken (currently there are 3 leg extensions 2/3 are broken for months now. Clips and pins are frequently missing. Paper towel dispensers on the floor are frequently empty. Plain and simple solution.. Managers need to MANAGE or members are going to start looking elsewhere. This is basic stuff. read more

worst gym i have ever been to. i signed up for their $1 membership for a month and went to the gym one time. i didn't like it at all. the equipment was horrible --most of it was broken and barely usable. i much prefer going to planet fitness with my $15 membership and better equipment than this place. i canceled my membership a week later and was charged $280. i spoke to one of their managers over the phone, who was very rude and not helpful at all. i then had to take time out of my day to drive 20 minutes just to figure the situation out. one of the managers (a guy) helped me and had a much better attitude than the other manager i had talked to over the phone. he apologized and was sincere, but that still didn't make the $280 charge any better, especially since i only went once. be aware if you decide to go to this gym. read more

Ive been going to this gym for a couple years now and have never been kicked out of the sauna 30 mins earlier to closing time, til tonight 12/30/25. I asked the attendants working the front if this has been posted anywhere, that way members are aware that the sauna is going to be closing earlier than expected-- they said it hadn't been formally announced...So now I am unsure if this is just an employee preference to getting the gym cleaned/closed sooner. But I think it's unfair when I pay as much as I do to be a member of this gym so that I can utilize the sauna during their late hours. This place is great to swim laps, lift weights and use cardio equipment. Staff at the counter are always welcoming. My only complaint is the basketball court, this applies to all CalFit locations. If you don't come early or don't come towards the end of the night you will not get in a game. The guys that lose get picked up by guys 'who have next' and this never ends. There should be staff who tracks players as they come in and put on list, this is a gym membership. There is always some staff not doing much maybe have them put players on list during busy times. I've been going to this gym since 2016. It's been a great gym. We keep upgrading things innovative but today I found out they're a little bit too much. I went to do a Hydro massage and use my 2000 points or so I never use, but now they don't take points. You have to upgrade your membership. I said never mind but he said I could get a free smoothie with my points once a month so I said sure let's do that but then I have to open the app log into another website to do that which is very redundant and it was under my wife's email, which is very frustrating. I explained the redundancy to the manager how silly it is for me to be in the app log into another app which I did not have the password for and my wife's email so I have to contact her for a free smoothie but my app is already under my name kind of a silly concept. It was very nice about it. I think kind of a dumb process that utilize your points that I've never even used. I explained to Deryk the manager how that was kind of dumb. He understood my frustrations but instead of just tossing a member who has been there for nine years a free smoothie he just let me leave frustrated not the best customer service, but it is what it is. read more
