Ive been going to the In-Shape on Mooney for about a year now, and wanted to share a little bit of my experience. I used to be a Planet Fitness gal... ONLY because it was cheap lol. But truthfully didn't like that there wasn't room/privacy, a lot of the times I would go the equipment would be in use and it always felt packed. At in-shape however, I feel they have a lot of equipment/extra space for their guests. Also everyone gets greeted when I get there, where it begins to feel like I'm not just a guest but apart of the In-Shape family. Also nothing beats having a kids zone .. because as someone with a child it's hard to get a workout in sometimes lol. Janet, Moa and Miss Mary always make it a good time! read more

Aqua Fit classes are awesome!! Also, their swim instructors are incredibly knowledgeable. If you don't know how to swim and would like to learn, sign up for whatever class is appropriate for your age and skill level, you won't regret it. All of the staff is always very friendly and helpful. The establishment is very cleanly as well.

This gym refuses to cancel memberships, so if you have life changes or illness, you will not get your money back. If you are too ill to show up in person to cancel your membership, you are screwed. They do not care that a medical doctor has advised you to discontinue working out - they will not reimburse you. They do not care that you are too ill to come into the gym in person to cancel - they will not reimburse you. They do not care that you have called the gym over and over and over again to cancel the membership - they will tell you this is unacceptable and you have to come into the gym to cancel - even though you are physically unable to come in. You can leave 7-8-9+ messages for the Visalia Mooney manager, Janet Vasquez, to call you and she refuses to do so. You can ask Janet to have her manager, Tom, call you, and he will not call you until you ask to speak with his boss. They have no compassion for their members. They would rather upset them and collect either the entire monthly membership amount or the hold amount than to work with folks who need to cancel their membership due to medical reasons. Tom will ask if you have a record of trying to cancel. He will try to back you into a corner - but he doesn't realize that the only record of a very ill person calling in would be if his staff took down their name, phone number, date and time that they called to try to cancel, but all they are trained to do is to say NO you cannot cancel over and over again - even though you cannot leave your home. Horrible gym!!!!! Horrible management!!!!! DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM!!!! There are so many others in the area who are more than happy to be good humans and be understanding of life circumstances. read more

i went to this club bc im out of town so its not my home club but i was very disappointed as the free weight section is incredibly small and the equipment in that area is so close together theres barely room to walk if theres other people there. some of the equipment is also so old that its hard to adjust it. theres absolutely no bars to hang and stretch on for some reason. just the tri ropes hanging from a very low ceiling. there also seems to be no spot for hip thrusts besides the smith machine. im not usually one to complain but it just seemed poorly designed. read more

It's a really nice gym and all good vibe to workout in but it's just some workers that have not been helpful and some what rude how they try to explain things. I been given attitude from this worker named Anamarie she's not really good on explaining things.... She has mentioned that she's been working at that gym for 5yrs but don't know how give a simple talk or explanation without sounding rude. So far good gym the problem just be the workers. Very nice, courteous staff, facilities are clean. Despite those who claim that pool is dirty, machine not managed properly is really not the issue. One must understand that literally hundreds of clients pass through the facility ----thus heavy traffic thus maintaining it is a challenge. If one compare this to other facilities similarly they are doing a good job. It is the clients that are are sloppy, leaving free used towels all over the floor in men's locker room. Jumping into the pool after sauna directly without washing off their sweats or rinse prior to entering pool. We have members going into sauna with towel blocking the sensor trying to increase temperature when these same members stay only less than 10 minutes. They have NO concept in conduction, convection and radiate heat! How do I know? Consider several members would go into the sauna covered from head to toes with gym pants not shorts, shoes, layers of clothing and on top of that a hooded sweat jacket! The selfish thing here is that this mess up the sensors and cause breakdown and inconvenience to other members as it has to be repaired which deprive others to from usage. On few occasions I confronted members and the reply was--- "I pay for membership" ---so ..... Take home message is: Let us be Considerate of others, complain less, do your part, enjoy, be healthy read more

The facility is fine, but the membership staff needs better training. This is the second InShape club that gave misleading information about membership holds and cancellations. I placed my membership on hold because I was moving and didn't know if there would be an InShape at my next location. There isn't so I called to cancel. Here's the red-tape. In order to cancel, you have to un-hold your account, pay the 30-day fee in order to cancel it. Was this mentioned? No. I was told I could place it on hold, then cancel without any problem. It's not a lot of money, but it is irritating that this seems to be a theme running through the corporation since a similar thing happened in Merced, when I was told there was no 30-day notice required. Really Yelp ?? I thought you guys post any review? Here It is again inshape Staff is never around when you have a question for some thing other then your membership upgradability. Weight room is always over crowded and the machines seem to have a disgusting stench that reminds me of a babies' diaper. Bathrooms are always wet and I mean puddles of water on the floors and sinks. It's like the janitors just hose down the area. I've had several friend leave this gym because of similar reasons. Oh and not to mention they changed the price on my membership with out notifying me. The person that woks at the front desk of any business is the face and voice of the company, typically the first person the client interacts with, and plays an important role in the representation of your business. The initial judgements of the client are often determined from this experience. Two things that make a successful front desk are first impressions and great communication skills. The employees working the front desk are extremely influential, because first impressions are a driving force in the business. Their manners, knowledge, and helpfulness directly reflect on the entire company. Communication skills and customer service are another main part of the job which require the employees to not only convey information clearly, but also be good listeners and respectfully respond to clients and co workers. Unfortunately, from my experience tonight, these qualities were not evident. There was an issue with my account and the employee at the front desk, Artecia, did not display the qualities I mentioned above. I was confused and continued to ask questions. Instead of trying to help me understand, she simply repeated the same answer over and over, while speaking to me in an unfriendly, irritated, and rude manner. There was another employee who tried to help clear things up and she responded in the same way to him. Maybe I should give her the benefit of the doubt, she could have been having a bad day, we all have those. However, when you have a job that requires you to interact with with people and help solve problems and confusion you need to be able to put personal issues aside and do your job well. I am not sure what kind of customer service training is given to the front desk employees, but based on my experience some additional training is definitely needed for her. Based off of my first impression with her, I would not have wanted to walk back up to that front desk to check in tomorrow. I tried the swim class for about 6 weeks but everyone talks through the whole class and I have a hard time focusing with all that talking. So I'm liking the indoor classes much better. Unfortunately my car was broken into yesterday and they stole my purse that was in my glove box. Another car was an attempted break in, fortunately his window tint saved it from totally shattering. Dirt pool dirty floors dirty light fixtures with lots of dead bugs trashy free weight area unsafe spacing for power racks. Ive talked to management about the unsafe unmaintained condition of there equipment which they completely ignored until i called corp. After 4 months of complaining Then they finally used a marker to right the weight on dumbells, barbells, medicine balls, they have under inflated physio balls that are cheep and the wrong size and they keep them in the wrong kind of safe area. They certainly dont vacuum the pool every other day like they say, not even every week! All things that can be easily done but they chose not to....why??? read more

This place is a rip off. I ended my membership 7 months ago, and I recently found out that they have been charging me still!!! When I called to talk to talk to a representative they were extremely rude, and refused! to transfer me to a supervisor. They said they sent me a refund, but still nothing. I would NEVER sign up for any of their gyms. They charge you for towels, "maintnance" fee every so often when in realty they have broken machines that are not fixed. The facility is dirty and that's how you know that money DOES NOT go to maintenance. Plus they harass you over the phone to sign up with a personal trainer. They called me everyday until I spoke to a manager and demanded them to take my number of the list. They are all about the money, and will try to squeeze every single penny out of you. The facility is ok. Restroom is clean, the weights are fine, the barbells could use some updating, the grip is worn down on some, the machines are fine. All in all the gym itself is just fine. The employees are respectful, always polite and greet you when you arrive and wish you a pleasant day when you leave. My biggest problem is the entitled members that NEVER pick up after themselves. Leaving (2) 45lbs plates on the bar for an employee or a smaller person to pick up. Not reracking the weight, anywhere. Even if you are not going to put them back in order, at least put them back. You find dumbbells next to the deadlift pad, next to the hex bar, next to a curl bar, next to...... Nobody ever picks up after themselves. I have only bee a member for 4 months and it is getting pretty darn annoying watching a member walk into the room, do their workout and leave all of their equipment on the floor and never think twice about taking it back. They make it very difficult to access customer service and if you persevere and finally manage to talk to someone, they are well trained in corporate speak and how to say f**k you with a smile. I've been a member here for several years. I like the classes and instructors and there are plenty of cardio machines. However, dealing with membership issues is a total nightmare. They will try to charge you for every fee they can possibly think of. They run plenty of promotions but don't follow through when a member actually wins one. (Still waiting for my "free" Tshirt!) I have been coming to inshape since last October, and wanted to add more challenges to my work out routine. I finally sighned up for a trainer last month, and picked Greg myself, because I heard wonderful things about this young man. I was very impressed my first session with him. I specifically let him know about the areas I really wanted to target, and we went to work almost right away. The work out was a bit challenging, and tiresome!! Often people review when they are not happy with a business but today I want to say 5 star service from Kyle, Lorraine and staff at Mooney Blvd, In Shape. Also kudos to corporate customer service assistant Ebony. Recently family medical matters turned our lives into quite a rodeo and when the dust settled I realized I had not updated our gym that for now, we could not go. Kyle shared what he hoped would happen, told me what to ask Corporate, I called and spoke with a wonderful helpful compassionate young lady named Ebony, and requested that we would not be charged for April as we had not gone and we need a temporary suspension for several months. She shared she recently had been through a like trial with her husband and quickly took care of everything. It was so very nice to have everyone be helpful warm, and understanding. We cant wait to get back to the helpful staff, the weights and the smiles. Thanks for everything. read more
