[[HIGHLIGHT]]So I emailed planet fitness (see their response below) and they of course never emailed me back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On the update front, I spoke to a gym manager, who after wishing to remain anonymous, filled me in on the "PLANET FITNESS" business model. Here's what he said: "Planet Fitness does not want to have customers who use the gym a lot. They don't want you to technically go at all. So those muscular gym rats are not their target customer base. They want the people who sign up and show up for about a month then stop, but who also continue to pay for a membership they don't use. That's why the membership is cheap. That's why they give out candy and have pizza days for customers. That's why they don't buy equipment that the regular gym goers use... Like a preacher bench... Or a flat bench... Or any barbels what so ever! Or curl bars above 60lbs. They never will. They don't want you there working out all the time. They lose money on you. Even the paint scheme (not using green or blue or red) is designed to make you leave." I believe every word of that. read more

So, I keep getting kicked out of areas of the gym so that their trainer can run these pointless classes for old ladies. I certainly have nothing against beginners trying to get into fitness at any age, but why should I have to stop my workout and move? Those classes don't cost the attendees anything extra, so why do they get more access to the equipment we're paying the same price for? The same thing is happening at the Porterville Planet Fitness as well. The only reason I use Planet Fitness is because there are so many of them that you're never that far from a gym, but they've now scheduled so many beginner fitness classes that large parts of the gym are unavailable throughout much of the day. It doesn't matter how many facilities they have if you can't ever use the equipment. I get that PF caters to beginners, but I don't film myself, slam weights, or any of the other prohibited behaviors. Why can't I use the gym I'm paying for? read more

Planet Fitness in Visalia is a pretty good gym. As you can see from the photos, this is a spacious location with all the basic needs for a good exercise session. You'll find a number of isolation machines for almost any of the large muscle groups, a great number of cardio machines from stair steppers to ellipticals, pulley machines, smith machines, dumbbells (up to 75 lbs), and exercise balls. If your time is limited, you can go into the 30-minute workout area, which has a circuit prepared for you. This Planet Fitness location has the larger 360 apparatus, which is my favourite thing to work with. It comes with weighted balls, kettle bells, battle ropes, TRX bands, and more. If you're a Black Card member, you get access to the hydromassage beds, chair massage, red light therapy, and tanning. Although the hydromassage is short, it's relaxing. Like other PF locations, you won't find yoga, kickboxing, spinning, and other fitness classes here for the low price of its monthly membership. However, I believe you can sign up for a fitness session led by the trainer here. From what I've seen, she puts together a fair circuit of exercises for those who sign up. Is the floor uneven? In some parts it is. Are the employees on their cleaning game most of the time? I'd say that I've been to some PF locations where the floors are spotless and dust is almost non-existent. Visalia is not one of them. And sadly, I have never seen the lunk alarm used here when I witness grunters and weight droppers. It is what it is. Planet Fitness Visalia is a decent gym with all the basic necessities for a good workout at a reasonable price. Get your workout on! read more

Came here on Friday. Wasnt sure if my card was going to work. I honestly haven't used a gym lately outside of las vegas. But I went in and it worked. The layout of the gym I like better than the one I use back home. Has more room for one. I primarily used the weights. Was in and out within a hour. Gym was clean and staff was friendly. I have been a member since 2020. The gym has clean equipment and plenty of space to work out in and is well maintained by the employees. The staff has always been Polite and friendly towards me. As a disabled veteran on a fixed income, the $10 monthly membership fee for a 24/7 gym is great on the wallet. read more

The staff was rude and made "accusations saying our account was flagged for graffiti" when all my coworkers and I do is go to this gym to workout on our lunch break. The female employee was very rude and could not explain to us what happened and what was going on! If I could leave 0 stars I would! I called my home gym and they had no idea what I was talking about. So instead of this location in Visalia explaining to my coworkers and I what happened she rudely told us to get out we weren't allowed in here. What a joke of staff employees in here. Let me start this entire review by saying I really am looking forward to the generic response from Planet Fitness about how they are so sorry to hear about my issues and that they really want all of their customers to have nothing less than a stellar experience so if you could just reach out to....blah blah blah. Plant Fitness you can save your corporate diatribe for some other person, I am not the one. First off, you know for a fact that (at least at this location) most of your staff are either straight out rude or just simply disinterested if providing any type of actual function of customer service. That's just the employees, which aren't even my main complaint, I can easily just ignore them. My main complaints are what the actual hell are you doing with member dues?? You certainly aren't repairing any of the broken equipment. Sure you added a whole bunch of "new" cardio equipment, (half of which is STILL unusable as it is roped off with safety tape) but what about all the rest of the equipment? No new free weights, no repair of the jacked up machines that are missing parts and/or just broken, nothing. Furthermore, why does it ALWAYS seem to be that 30 minute express workout area is shut down for cleaning when the gym is packed with people? And always with one person in their puttering around with a fricking dust feather!! What is that?? Four employees milling about at the desk doing literally nothing but just person running a feather duster around and entire room that is shut off to everybody trying to workout. I'm very satisfied with the gym overall. Kind staff, ample machines for various activities, favorable hours. What I do have a problem with, while small to some, is a big deal to me. Today there were 4 TV's that were with a black screen (no picture). I don't think I have ever seen them all working at the same time. Occasionally some screens have an overly red tint to them or have a frozen screen shot that stays up for weeks. One other item that irks me is when a machine goes down for mechanical reasons they put an out-of-order sign on it and encircle it with yellow tape and repairs take for ever. Case in point, one of two machines was out of service because of a broken rod end. If I had known it would take 4 weeks to repair I would have gone down to Ace Hardware, purchased the part and repaired the machine myself at my own expense. It would have taken less than 5 minutes Then we would not have been down to only one of this type of machine which is quite popular with the senior crowd. Both machines are working fine now. Again I want to stress that I am very satisfied with the gym as a whole. These two issues are the problems that stand out and were not dealt with in a timely manner. read more

Nice, quiet, no thugs and light on the bros. I can get a good workout without nonsense and distractions. Unlike In-Shape City, I don't feel as though om going to get robbed/murdered going to and from the parking lot and I'm not worried about my car getting broken into. Friendly staff and clean locker rooms and facilities. No sharps containers in bathrooms, however I've never seen anyone juicing while here (unlike every other gym I've been too). The new equipment is cool, but the location itself is way too small. There is still not enough equipment when they hit peak hours and wait times are an issue. The biggest issue though is the staff. I can only think of one employee who was kind in my time here. I had cancelled a couple years ago and decided to come back, however rude staff and an awkward set up made me cancel again. I'll be going to Lifestyles, where the staff is really friendly and the amenities actually make the price make sense. read more

Way too small and staff doesn't manage people who take up too much space so prepare to be inconvenienced constantly. $60 to quit the gym is almost 3 months dues for the cheapest gym in town. I have not been a member long (well, I have been a member just hadn't stepped foot in the gym until recently) I wanted to wait a bit before writing a review until I had been going consistently but I am ready to review finally! UPDATE - I love this gym!!!! I am a middle age house frau who isn't really over weight but I have absolutely zero muscle tone or stamina. My biggest fear was feeling seriously judged and being pushed to do more than I was physically ready for. PF gets this. I had joined In Shape last year and tried to get myself into the habit of going but just on the first day, when a trainer HAS to take you around, I quickly found myself in my gym nightmare. Not only do I have zero muscle tone or stamina - but I lack coordination. A trifecta of embarrassment. The guy pushed and pushed and would not listen to me when I said I needed to start slow. Needless to say, I left feeling exactly how I feared I would feel (like an idiot and way out of my element) and never went back. So I really appreciate PF's hands off approach. Exactly what I needed. Every time I have gone (day time) the staff has been very friendly and helpful. I love their lockers in the front. And Christi (trainer) is great. I have only done one class with her but will be signing up for more. I also love the lack of mirrors! For the negative reviews - I am sure I will experience 'off' days with the staff. That's ok with me because the good will still far outweigh the bad. I feel comfortable at this gym and to me, that makes all the difference! Ok still going strong and still LOVE THIS GYM!! I am always leery of $10 a month deals, and when I tried to sign up online, I kept running into minor snags on their website. No, I didn't want to download the app just yet because if I cannot use their website, what's the point. Unfortunately, the PF website would not take my bank routing number. It would not let me add the final digit, so I had to go in to do this. I did so and the first lady I spoke with passed me on to another person who took my license to enter my name. He proceeded to misspell my last name, despite holding my ID in his hand, and put 93277 as my zip code instead of 93223. I hope this doesn't affect billing and come back to bite me. I like the large gym, and I know it is crowded now due to the new year rush, so hoping it thins out after awhile. I like that there are a ton of cardio machines for people to use, but that also limits the amount of work out machines available. I try to do a nicely-rounded, hour-long workout on different machines, and it never fails to come up to a machine (normally on the west side of the gym) where someone is sitting on a machine with their nose into their cell phone, and anyone wanting to use the machine has to wait for their interest to switch back to their work out so the rest of us can slide in. I have already asked if I can sneak in instead of waiting for them to shut off their phone, or I head to a different machine. Instead of the employees hanging out at the front desk, maybe they should encourage people who like to squat on machines to get going and let other people on. Maybe make a sign, or add this to the constant emails I am now receiving from PF. Just a thought. I like the fact that there are no grunters in the gym, no loud thuds of weights being dropped on the ground, useless noise like that. The music could be lowered in the gym and switched up now and then. Some of the songs have questionable lyrics, but in reality, pretty all do at one point or another. Is the QR code I pull up on my phone the same code I use every time I go to the gym? Is this the same code other people use instead, and mine isn't personal at all? Does my code change each time I go to the gym? So far, I like the gym. Four out of five stars, could be better with minor improvements, otherwise, I am very happy with what PF offers. I would put 0 if possible but anyway. Be aware of your contract and have it ready if you are among any of the members who fell for the "amnesty"promotion last year. I went in this morning and didn't have my phone charged up so I requested to check in with assistance of one of the counter staff. The employee Stephanie said I had an old account I owe on and I explained how I did the amnesty promotion and was given a new account but recently changed my number since I was residing elsewhere. I had work and was just anxious to shower then deal with corporate later. She stated "that's fine". So I I showered and even asked another staff to assist me as I hurt myself previously there and needed a paper towel. She obliged and NEVER told me I wasn't allowed to shower. Lo and behold, I walk out abd the man at the counter informs me I am banned from the Visalia location for showering. I explained she said it was ok but he was insistent I am not active and didn't follow her direction so bye. I straightened out my membership issue with my home club. But it was so unprofessional to treat a visiting customer that way. I did fall on their wet floor 2 nights before and had called to request a copy of the incident report. They need to fix the handicap shower so the hose isn't falling and put a mat on that shower. Also fix the air dryer. I have used Planet Fitness gyms from Fresno to San Diego. We walked into the gym to check out if it would be a good place to workout. Ashley greeted us as we walked in right away and made us feel very welcomed. After walking into other gyms and being ignored we knew this is where we wanted to sign up at. Ashley signed me and my son up. She was so energetic and excited it rubbed off on us and make it a great place to get motivated. They are okay, I go there because they are open 23 hours a day. Equipment wise they are a bit limited in what they offer. I find myself having to wait behind quite a few people for even the barbells. When I get there at 3 AM or so when they open after the hour cleaning, I can get an uninterrupted workout. It is all about timing there. The staff except for one lady are friendly. So hard to workout when kids get in free all day and many just want to hang out. I'm not sure what people were upset about. I was really pleased with the equipment and facilities. Even though I'm primarily at the hanford location, I was super happy with the gym. I've been missing an elliptical with the reverse mode feature. The floor's even now. I didn't see any bumps at all, what someone called "walking hazards". The place was super clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. Even the locker rooms and bathrooms were clean, which I low key check first to see if an institution cares. My rule of thumb is that: a place that keeps its bathrooms, an unsavory place to keep clean, in pristine condition cares about its business and customers. read more

So I called to find out about a day pass and my phone rang three times. I'm not one to need someone to answer right away but considering that this gym is open for 24 hours, I would assume that someone is near the front to answer. Anyways, a friend called next to me and right away there was an answer so I said, "Hi I had called earlier about three times and there was nobody answering. Did you guys receive my calls?" And a guy named Issac said back, "Yeah. Can I help you?" I work in retail so I know what proper customer service looks like and this ain't it.
