If you are ever in Bishop and in need of massage therapy, go to In The Zone because they are wonderful people and Steve is a highly skilled and professional massage therapist. I have literally never felt compelled to Yelp in my life until my experience at In The Zone. I wandered in here out of desperation, and I'm so glad I did. I am in Bishop to climb, but I have a muscle injury that isn't healing, so I went looking for someone who might be able to help me out. Steve and his wife Julie run the business, and they are the nicest people. They work with a lot of climbers. I started explaining my injury and cycle of re-injury... and before I even made an appointment, Steve gave me a lacrosse ball so I could start breaking down scar tissue at home. They charge $65 for an hour of massage, so I made an appointment for the next morning. The office was relaxing, and there were candles and homemade shortbread cookies. Steve was very professional and careful to communicate with me in order to keep from stretching my injured muscle too far. He has an incredible depth of knowledge about every muscle in the body. He concluded that my muscle was not ready to be stretched or exercised yet and I needed to rest it. As I was getting ready to pay, Julie stopped me and told me they were going to comp my massage because Steve had only wanted to see if he could help me, and since he couldn't they weren't going to charge me. She even sent me away with cookies! Honestly, even if the massage didn't help my injury, just having someone knowledgeable tell me to rest it was helpful (because I wasn't going to!), and my experience with Steve and Julie was so positive that I created a Yelp account just so I could write them a review. I'll probably never Yelp again, but I will definitely go back to In The Zone. read more

Steve at In the Zone Massage gives very wonderful and relaxing massages. I always leave feeling restored back to health! He knows where to concentrate, and works out knots and kinks. My last massage I had tweaked my right knee the day before, and it just didn't feel right. I forgot to mention it to him, but he somehow must have sensed something was wrong because he spent a little extra time on that knee and it was healed! He is very knowledgeable about different massage techniques, and offers advice on stretches to help between sessions. The location is convenient, the room is relaxing, the office is pretty, and he offers water afterwards....refreshing. Julie, his wife, is also very nice. I feel fortunate to have found In the Zone Massage, and recommend Steve to anyone wanting to relax, loose the tension, feel better, and improve their outlook on life. I feel so wonderful afterward. I am not one who writes good reviews unless it is really deserving. Here goes....I am up here (Bishop) for a week staying at my inlaws house and I started having severe back pain to the point of not being able to move. I was desperate for relief when I made an appt with Steve. He was ready to help me immediately. The bottom line is Steve is the best massage therapist I ever had! He is professional and the space is very nice and comfortable for his clients. The room is warm, candles lit and nice music playing. He is very knowledgeable about the muscles of the body. It is a combo of massage and physical therapy, which is what I needed. Such nice touches throughout. I can't say enough about the entire experience. I wished I lived closer to see him more often. Steve Tiede, the owner, gave me one of the best massages I have ever had! The studio is warm and serene, incredibly inviting, which makes the experience all the better. He spent the right amount of time asking about my preferences and what areas were particularly problematic (always my neck and shoulders!), then proceded to tailor a massage that did exactly what was needed to soothe my muscles. It was not until I experienced a massage from Steve Tiede of In the Zone that I actually felt relief! Amazing massage from a great dude. Out of town climber/route setter suffering from an overused body. I impulsively set up an appt with Steve. So glad that I did. The space is relaxing and immaculate, Steve is disarming, earnest, and very skilled. Takes a great amount of care in what he does and how he does it. It shows. In a 90-minute session he was able to loosen me up from head to toe; I went from feeling tense and achey to super relaxed and malleable. Ultimately, I was able to climb quite a bit more than I normally would because my body just felt that good. His wife's cookies were also of note! Delicious! I was even given a bottle of Perrier upon my departure. I prefer a man as a massage therapist because they tend to be a bit stronger and that is what my achy muscles needed! Steve´s knowledge and skill combine to be a true blessing when I come in for a "Treatment". I am a daily athlete, a violinist and a teacher; I use my body to the max with these activities, and Steve works my muscles until I feel spacious and free inside my body again. Been going to Steve for awhile, and I have to say he is one of the best. Listens to what issues you have going on, super attentive and zones in on it. I work on my feet all day and I feel like a truck hit me at the end, so going in is a treat. The room is very zen and spa like with music and candles. Just hiked Boundary Peak yesterday. Sore as could be and tight. After a 60 minute massage Steve had my quads able to bend and flex like I hadn't even climbed. Amazing! Highly recommend this place. Plus his wife bakes homemade cookies that you receive with some water. Nice touch! read more
