got a letter from the regarding a vehicle that we traded in back in 2021 that for some reason is still registered to me. I contacted the tow company and told them that. they told me the actual owner was sending title in to get it transferred. today i got a certified letter regarding the vehicle. I called DMV and they told me i can disregard the letter or since i was registered owner of the vehicle i could pay whats owed and get the vehicle. I called the tow company again and they told me even though im the registered owner there is a 2nd lien holder ( notice of sale)on it and only that 2nd lien holder could get the vehicle. DMV doesnt show a 2nd lien. if i cannot get the vehicle then why keep sending me letters on it? im not responsible for any tow bill or storage read more

Royce & Dave came out within an hour after I called AAA. With that rain, snow & ice we had yesterday my battery was dead this morning. I found out I hadn't closed my back door all the way, so a jump was in order. The guys got it done right away. It was in my driveway, so I was very thankful I wasn't on the road in this mess. Out of my 15 calls over the past 9 years AA has sent this company & only 2 times have they done their job correctly without a nasty, rude, disrespectful, attitude! I've had driver show up & not speak I mean literally pull up get out & stare at me like I'm the tow truck driver & they need my services! One young black driver stood & watched as a young woman put her flat tire back on while he toyed with his phone. Independence specialty tow took a contract from progressive for 730 am tow, they called at 550am to confirm the tow, the truck driver called at 554am to confirm a tow at 730am, but since they accepted the bid at 540, progressive 3rd party Co. cancelled the tow. No information was conveyed from the tow co. that the contract would be canceled if they didn't pick up at 540am, even the driver said 730am would be better then when he called. I even suggested to the driver to come out at 554am when he called to confirm if it was more convenient. read more

This black guy heavy set, always wears a headset, this dude told me that he is going to send a wrecker to tow my BMW 330CI (a low profile vehicle) 50+ miles and not use his flatbed that he came in. AAA callout, a great experience, if roadside breakdown can be called that! Car died out in the country, stranding us in a bad/dangerous situation on edge of a busy rural highway. Called AAA; Lacey, the dispatcher from Indep. Specialty Tow, called promptly after we hung up from AAA call. She quickly determined where we were, which was not where AAA had told them. She quickly got Daniel on the scene. He was top-notch. He positioned his truck where the lights could be seen immediatley by drivers cresting the hill, and he made sure we were safely out of the way as we waited. After checking on cause of the problem and determining that it did have to be towed, not just started, he carefully winched it up onto the bed and drove us into town to deposit the car at the dealership. The service and care from Independence Specialty Tow was exceptional, start to finish, to a 93-year-old veteran and slightly younger companion. They couldn't find the house for drop-off, even though I gave them the address. So, they dropped it off at a random house with no phone call or notification. When I figured out it was missing, they demanded I meet them at the wrong house and lead them to the correct address. As dumb as this is in the age of Google, I agreed and half way there they canceled and rerouted the driver...inept, rude, unprofessional. Incompetent top to bottom. I would give them 0 stars if that was an option. We talked to Randy at 6 pm who told us that he would be there in 45 minutes. A cop showed up at the site where our vehicle had quit running (Super busy intersection, extremely unsafe to be stopped there). The cop asked for an ETA from the towing company so we called Randy back at 6:40 and he said that he would be 25 minutes. No problem. EXCEPT AT 7:45 THERE WAS STILL NO TOW TRUCK. We called Randy back again and he quit answering his phone. Just absolutely no answer. We tried to call the company number and they were no help either. We ended up having to call Jackson County Tow and they came in 5 minutes. Thanks to Jackson County Tow my car is now at the shop. Don't ever call this towing company unless you want to sit in a hot car during a heat advisory for 3+ hours waiting on a tow. I almost got heat stroke while waiting for them to show up. I was called 3 times and everytime I was told it would be longer and longer I had to wait. After 3 hours I got sick of waiting for them to show up so I called another towing company. As a crime victim it really sucks to have your vehicle stolen but you want to know what sucks worse? When you find your vehicle yourself but the sheriff insists on having it towed and they call independence specialty tow . Because not only did you get taken for a ride once when your stuff was stolen but then when the sheriff gets it back you're taking for ride again when they hand you a tow bill !! Giving one star is only because the driver was super kind . But Carla who answer the phone and took the information, was unbelievably rude, condescending and continue threatened to cancel the tow. Called us several times demanding where we were, stating we weren't on the right stop. Kept threatening us with no tow. Call and refused to Let us talk. Just horrid experience. Called triple a and reported. Its sad because the driver couldn't of been nicer. But Carla ruined any thought of ever calling this company again. If I could have given this place zero or negative stars I would have. My vehicle was towed thanks to the lovely Independence police dept. After contacting them I was advised Independence Specialty Tow was the company that towed and now the had possession of my vehicle. I called them immediately, it was a Saturday morning. I reached a woman who told me they were only open until noon by appointment only. She told me what I needed which unfortunately I was minus one important document which left me unable to retrieve my vehicle until that following Wednesday. The one positive thing about this experience pwas the woman working the front desk, despite us having a little bit of rough start ultimately she and I were able to communicate politely and effectively to solve some issues I was having supplying the proper paperwork due to the lack of something I had not yet received from the selling dealer. She came a across a little rude at first but I have no doubt she has a tough job. It appeared to me that she's the first person the majority of all customers speak with either on the phone or in person at a towing & storage facilty that handles work for the Independence Police Dept. I can only imagine what she puts up with daIly. I have no doubt her job is not easy. In the end with her help I was able to retrieve my vehicle which otherwise would have very possibly never left there. The storage fees add up quickly and a few more days I would have added up to a figure that would have put retrieving it so far out of my reach I would have never gotten it back. She recognized that and her help was appreciated, like i said the ONLY positive part of this whole experience. After getting the paperwork situation handled I was finally able to get it released back to me and An employee pulled it around front for me. Immediately upon opening the drivers door I was alerted to the fact my vehicle had been ransacked and left whrefer to as "picked clean" and what wasn't taken was left strewn about all over the inside. Every compartment left open, purse dumped out, along with all contents of my makeup bag and wallet (which was now totally empty Down to even the pennies. ) I had left 4 mid to large shopping bags that contained purchases from se retail stores that day on the front seat prior to the tow, now all missing entirely. Not expecting to have my vehicle towed I had also left $400 in gift cards in wthe side drivers door panel, gifts for a friends upcoming wedding, split with 2 friends , the cost to be divided 3ways. ( later leaving me to absorb the ENTIRE $400 cost myself, plus an additional $130 for my portion of the replacement cards) 2 designer purses were missing, a coat, a pair of brand new boots still in the box, $23 in cash from the console, my cell phone, hot spot puck, battery pack, iPhone cords, 2 iPad cases, a pair of Sony head phones. Random items were all over the floor and seats. Paperwork and napkins from the glove compartment tossed all over. My boyfriend Was now walking over to see what was clearly now causing me great upset and preventing our.... he attempted to open the passenger door, to our dismay it was discovered it now did not easily open and somehow was completely out of alignmentment and created a dent from the slightest attempt at opening. There was a huge scratch that began at the back edge of the drivers door that went all the way across the rear door to the rear quarter panel, the trim on the rear door missing completely. An Big scratch on the driver mirror as well as the alignemnt of the drivers door was off but not quite as bad as the passenger door. I went inside to inquire about if I had any rights or options when it came to the missing items and the damage to my vehicle. Upon entering the office I noticed I think 5 or so employees inside the small office as it was now almost time for them to be closing. I could see they all were watching me, and a couple of them appeared to be whispering with each other. After explaining my situation, I was immediately met with multiple employees placing blame on the Independence police department, citing "they do that all the time" and I should call them. At this point I voiced my opinion as to why I was reluctant to think the police had done this. Then to my dismay every one of the 6 or so employees in that office was now referencing the contents of my vehicle. But ultimately was told they weren't going to do a darn thing, they were not responsible. You would like to think if our have the unfortunate experience of having vehicle towed........that the facilty towing and storing it not only handle your property with care while towing it, but store it safely for you..........I mean seriously I paid them $650, could you at least buy some fake cameras to try and detour your employees from stealing from your customers cars? I can't be the first & doubt I'll be the last. Steer clear of this place if you have a choice....... read more

If I could give this rating zero stars, I would. I have never been so disrespected in my entire life as I was today by this company and its representatives and owner. My husband called our insurance company this morning to report that we needed a tow truck to tow our car. We were told that they had requested a tow on our behalf from Independence Specialty Tow and they should arrive around 10:35 am. Around noon when we still had not seen the tow truck, my husband called again and was told that the tow truck driver could not locate our car (which was sitting in our driveway). My husband explained that the car was sitting in our driveway and we were told that the tow truck would arrive in 10 minutes. At 1:00 when there was still no tow truck I called Independence Specialty Tow myself to find out what the problem was. The representative that answered the phone said, "Hello?" Which I replied, "Is this the tow company?" She replied, "Uhhh, yeah who do you think you called?" So, then I proceeded to ask where the tow truck was and mentioned the fact that we had been waiting since 9:00 am for the truck. At this point, this company decided to change their story and said that the tow truck driver had been by our house a couple of hours ago and rang the doorbell and no one answered. I explained that not only was someone home the entire time, but our front door was open and that information was not accurate. I then explained that my husband had been given an entirely different story less than an hour before. This woman, that is the representative and customer service for this company, said I was a "f*cking liar" and that she was canceling my tow and to "f*ck off" and then hung up on me. I proceeded to call back and asked to speak to someone in charge at which point another lady got on the phone and stated that she was the owner. So, I explained what had transpired and she immediately started cussing me out and telling me that I was full of sh*t and that I was a "f*cking b*tch" and hung up on me. At this point, I called my insurance company to explain the situation and they were appalled that a company would treat a person in this manner. They made sure that I received another tow request from a reputable company and they have escalated the matter to ensure that my insurance company will no longer do business with this company. After my car was towed with no issues from the new company, which also had no issues locating my car in my driveway, I did a little research on this company because I could not believe the type of treatment that I had received. According to their business license filed with the state, the owner, Bonnie Reber has multiple lawsuits against her and her company ranging from failure to pay taxes, breach of contract, outstanding judgments and garnishments, and convicted of failure to restrain a child while in a moving vehicle. This gives you an idea of the type of character this company and the owner is. Going forward, I plan to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General. Further, because I am in the legal field all of my phone conversations are recorded so I also plan to turn those recordings over to the local news station so the general population can be warned about this company and steer far, far away! read more

As a 75 year old widow, I am sure I was badly ripped off by this company. The tow truck driver did not tell me I would be charged $65 per day to keep my totalled car on their lot. I was hurt and did not get to their lot for a few days. They informed me (even though my AAA insurance towed it to their lot) that I had a bill of $1,200 for my 1991 Chevrolet which was totalled in the wreck. The car was worth about $300 when it was hit. The truck driver did not tell me about these charges, I had no knowledge of anything about what tow companies do, had never dealt with one before. The office didn't notify me about these charges which were being incurred. The tow truck took my car away. I have never dealt with towing companies, other than a time my car needed a battery and my car was hauled to a mechanic. I was never once advised by the driver or the company that they would charge such an exorbitant amount. read more
