We took our Subaru to the Subaru dealership to have them check the seat because it was extremely loose and wobbly. It took them the entire day to do the diagnostic on it, and then they wanted an outrageous amount of money to repair it. We called Independent Auto and they got the car in quickly, gave us the diagnosis within a few hours, and we had the car repaired and back by the next day. They went out of their way to ensure they repaired the vehicle to both their and our satisfaction, and the staff was super friendly. Anyways, in the last few years we have had several instances where our vehicles needed service, and when I tell you, I am a customer for life, I mean it. Jesse is fair, communicative and respectful, and I have never felt spoken down to, or mansplained when I've brought our vehicles. In fact; I'm bringing mine in today. I no longer have anxiety when my car needs service, because I know the crew at Independent will give me the truth, quality work, and more affordable than other repair shops. If you don't understand something, Jesse will explain it so you do, and he will never push or exaggerate to get you to pay for work you don't really need. In fact, the opposite. One of our cars was a heaping pile of junk, and he was honest with us, and let us know what he could do AT that time, to get it running and safe, but not spend more than the cars worth to repair. I really enjoyed working with Independent Auto. I felt they did quality work. They need to work on transparency though. And being honest. How is it that I brought my vehicle there as a man and they never once offered me an inspection. My ex-wife just brought our car to this shop and suddenly there was a fee for a diagnostic. She did not ask for. I spoke with Jesse and he said that is her fault for not asking for the price upfront. Just to be clear I explained the situation to two other auto shops. They both agreed that was wrong. In Reno at auto shops generally do a safety inspection is free or for a nominal fee. This is straight up bad business and they've lost my business as well as my ex-wife's business. Jesse thinks my x-wife is stupid. At least that is what he implied. It was her fault for not asking for a quote. Jesse just put it on the bill. This is not good business. Taking advantage of single women and the elderly is bullshit. Let me just say that it is very important That any auto shop gives us a quote upfront before they do any business. I Dolan Toyota they pull this shit and Tom Dolan (RIP) before he died, train his entire staff and transparent invoice quotes. I also had an interaction with Sport Haus. Both Dolan Toyota and sport Haus gave me a full refund. Independent Auto would be wise to do the same because that sales tactic is highly unethical . read more

Took some time to write this review because I'm skeptical especially of mechanic shops because of the horror stories that come from them. It's been about a month and 600 miles and my vehicle hasn't fallen apart. I bought a new to me 05 Subaru forester and was not told about the things wrong with it. I took it to independent due to a weird popping during turns under 25 mph and i chose this shop because I had heard they were the best for Subarus. I was not disappointed. They finished ahead of schedule and under budget and walked me through every step. They answered every question i asked no matter how opinion based it was like, "is it worth keeping". I'm thankful i brought it here and now there's no leaks, no destroyed differential, and no grinds during turns. Just my weekend warrior and no car payments. Took a Honda Pilot in for repair. Intermittent problem but the crew finally tracked down the failing part. I authorized the repair but somehow the message got lost ... hey, it happens. Here's why I'm taking my time to post this review. In these cases, 9 out of 10 businesses will tell you, sorry, the repair will take longer than originally estimated and hey ... "sh** happens". NOT THIS SHOP. They quickly ordered the part, had the delivery expedited, put 2-techs on the job, and had the vehicle repaired & ready for pickup at noon the next day (the original estimate). Now ... that's the way to impress a customer. So, next time you need your car repaired, I recommend this shop because ... they go the extra mile and, not many do these days. I have a 2006 Subaru Impreza, that had a shot catalytic converter. There is no panacea for that fix that is not expensive. I went ahead and had the repair completed. Just read the owners response and others recent experiences. It is sad as this shop was touted as the best for Subie's. So the leak was a seal coming from the passenger side axle, diagnosed in seconds at a different shop I went to. More favorable results? No sir, you didn't catch it at first, there's no way a leak would just spring like that, and you even took pride in your 200 price point attesting to some level of quality. I don't know what that level is for you given the negligence there and the transmission drain bolt being absolutely stripped as well. Checked the carfax it was at a transmission shop in town before taking this vehicle to your shop given the odometer. Cmon read more

Hands-down this place is the best auto place I've ever been to! They get you in quickly and it's done right the first time. Plus they are fair, none of that BS you get from other shops taking advantage of you. My transmission needed some work done it was leaking and there were some other problems with it a seal and some thing else, they quoted me like almost $1300 but when I picked up the vehicle it was just over $1000 instead. when I asked about it they said well we always try to give you worst case scenario and if we can get it done sooner and for the less we pass it onto you. Then I took the vehicle back in because when shifting to park it wouldn't go in, but we weren't trying to fix it at that time and they had told me I'm probably gonna need some work done eventually on that and that it might be neutral safety switch... So I took it in this week for that after they ordered the part, which I didn't have to pay for upfront, and they called me today and said it wasn't the neutral safety switch it looks good it was something else that needed to be adjusted, the linkage. It's only $218 instead of the $670 they quoted me. What shop does that?? Normally they just put the part in and don't give a crap, these guys care and they want to be your auto shop! I almost hate to review them I want to keep this little secret to myself! I'll be back for all my automotive needs 100%. read more

I highly recommend this shop. Jessy and staff are honest and friendly and their work is very high quality. I took my Lexus in to have my brakes checked after twice taking it to the dealership, to find that they did not repair my brakes and charged me for the brake job. Jessy suggested I take it back to dealer because he didn't feel right charging me for new brakes. This has to be the best mechanic around. Jesse spent a long time trying to figure out what the weird ticking was in my car, and somehow he was able to diagnose that it was the actuator for the A/C. They have worked on my car, my son's and daughter's and they have been honest and dependable. Never any mention of replacing the blinker fluid. My daughter had the Toyota dealership try to get her to do over $2400 worth of work. Jesse went through it top to bottom and there was not anything wrong with her car. The whole crew is excellent. Brought my manual swap Subaru Svx to independent automotive for them to replace the transmission. I had an extremely shitty experience overall. My car sat for 6 months due to the shop inability to source a transmission, they told me I needed to do it myself and I would check with part numbers before buying a transmission, I bought 3 transmissions all of which I was told would work and when I spent the money and time to get them and bring them to them they told me all 3 times that they were not going to work, not because of condition but the spec. Finally they magically have a source with a transmission for 900$ and tack it on the invoice at 1200$ of which I had to call to correct. When I received my car they had broken multiple trim pieces and the transmission was immediately making concerning noises as I drove away from the shop. I took pictures and video immediately, contacted the shop, it took over 3 weeks to get a call from the owner who told me "with the amount of custom work we did you should know that some things may break in the process" I would have expected after spending so much money they would have at least used proper trim removal tools but evidently didn't and broke things in the process. The owner quickly ended our conversation on the phone prompting me to text him where he responds once and never again. I really had hope for this shop due to the recommendations I received but first hand I expirienced some of the shittiest automotive service I have ever come across and a shitty attitude when asked to correct the mistakes. read more

Beings they had Subarus on their website and my car is a Subaru I brought it over. They were busy as hell and they couldn't get me in right away but five hours later I was driving away with my wheelbearings fixed.
