After I took my 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan to a leading tire and lube shop in Sparks for an oil change. I noticed a leak in my garage and reached out to them regarding this concern. I was scheduled to bring the car back so it could be looked at and have the issue corrected. I came in and I was told that the drain plug had a defective washer and that the washer was replaced. The oil level was also checked. The following morning, I found a leak in the garage under the. I was not only disappointed, but I was disgusted. This destroyed whatever confidence I had in using this tire shop for vehicle maintenance.. A week later, I had a casual conversation with my chiropractor regarding this situation. I considered taking my vehicles to the dealership for service. He told me about Specialty Automotive, an independent shop that he has used to get his car serviced. The following Monday, I gave Specialty Automotive a call. I spoke to Kyle and explained to him that I had an oil leak that a leading tire and lube shop failed to correct. I brought in my Tiguan that Friday. Kyle kept me posted on the diagnosis. I was informed that the drain plug did not have a washer and the washer was placed under a screw for the splash guard! An OEM drain plug and washer was installed and fresh oil was added to the engine. The problem was finally resolved. The following week, I brought in my 2007 Subaru Outback for a 160K mile service. Kyle informed me of the fluid changes that we recommended (transmission fluid and front and rear differential fluids). I also requested to have the TPMS sensors replaced since I been getting false readings from them. These repairs have been made to my satisfaction and they were done at a reasonable price. I let Kyle and Ritchie know that my chiropractor strongly recommended Specialty Automotive to me and I found another local business that I can support. Paid to get my brakes, rear rotates changed, along with some wire and transmission work, just to get my 1995 Suburban back in worse condition then when i left it with them. Took my car to another mechanic and they said that my air compressor hose and freon line were cut and melting onto my transmission. Which ruined $1500 work done to fix the AC. They also put new spark plugs in my 1995 vehicle that belong in 2015 or up cars at best,which in turn killed my catalytic converter. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone! read more

Kyle and his crew were just fantastic. We were in Reno for a girls softball tournament when our alternator went out. Kyle was able to get us in the same day and had it replaced by closing time which is no small feat for a Infinity QX-60. Thanks to the crew at Specialty Auto we didn't have to scramble to find a hotel and stay an extra night and we were back on the road. They were reasonably priced as well. THey listed when I told them what is wrong. They explained they could not give an exact quote until they looked at my Van, but they were willing to give me a "ballpark" price, depending on what they found. They not only replaced the alternator and gave me the oil change I requested, they looked into other troubles I was having. All were caused by the alternator. My van works like new! $480 and change. I was fortunate to find Virgil Miller when I broke down in Sparks. My 99 Chevy Astro had a chronic problem with a key security problem and would not start. Virgil never gave up on it, he bypassed the key switch part of the system and located a fault which burned out the BCM (Body Control Module). I have driven 4,000 miles with over 100 starts since then with no problems. If you have 'gremlins' in your Gremlin, go see Virgil. read more

These guys are HONEST RELIABLE DEPENDABLE and FAIR!!! Hate to say it but even BETTER than my last mechanic---wish I had found them 2 years ago, would have saved me ALOT of $$$. They kept the bad part, showed it to me, and explained everything they did. They went above and beyond to find what was drawing power and killing my battery. The dealer had it twice for the same thing and never did anything about it. My previous mechanic couldn't find it either. These guys did and the first day. They charged me a fair and reasonable amount to diagnose, order parts and repair. They called with updates every step of the way and didn't BULLSHIT me.
