I took my car to get my oil change to Take 5 Oil Change on South Virginia. As I approached the shop, I noted that they only had one other customer, so when I pulled up, I only had to wait few minutes before being ushered to the middle work station. The manager, inquired what I was there for and when I mentioned oil change, the techs proceeded to work on my oil change. While there, they also changed the cabin air filter, the front and rear wipers. The total cost of the service came out to a little under $200, which was about what I had expected. The techs were efficient, professional and courteous, and my car is now running better; so, overall, I would say, it was a positive visit and I will be back. read more

Wanted to try a different Oil Change place other than the dealership and "lube" places. In-vehicle wait time was fairly short. They provided great service, gave me a cold bottled water to drink while I wait in my car. They were thorough inspecting my vehicle such as the air filter and such. 0 start is not an option. In summary, lazy and poor customer service with lack of communication explaining. For the first time in over 10 years, a smog check inspector claimed my car was "tampered with" and thus reported my report as such and failed to the DMV. I was still charged $30. Sadly what the inspector (who is also the manager) (DMV inspector number E00000075395) did not do was actually look under the steering wheel - very lazy in my opinion. The location for the OBD port connector was not tampered with which the inspector would have seen and felt had he actually tired. Do not go to this location for smog test, and honestly with that service, I would never go there for anything. The same day, I went to another place and like every other time, the inspector was able to connect to the port that was not tampered with. This inspector should not be certified to do these tests. read more

It was super hot and I had my son in the car, they were quick to offer me some cold water and keep me updated on what was going on. We pulled into the 3rd bay for an oil change since there were two other cars in the other bays. He told us we would have to wait as they were busy with the other cars. So now we are stuck in the vehicle for the wait of 10 to 15 mins. That is fine unless you have to use the restroom. Once in the bay area you are not supposed to leave the car for safety issues. No one wants to drop in the hole or trip on a hose. Two young men were doing both the other cars and did not get to us until those cars exited the bays. So now the whole process of working on our car took another 15 to 20 mins. I would not say it is a "quick lube" spot. As you can see from my photo, two workers chatted outside the building that whole time. Maybe they were on break but it just does not look good to the public. The only reason I am giving three stars is because the gentleman who worked on our car from the computer was polite and he did not pressure us when we told him we did not want the top oil change nor the extras. We did take the new air filter which was about $35, just to be done with it. And they asked us if we needed water but we were fine (didn't want to use the restroom and fall in the hole). I would probably use them again and give them another try. I just hope it runs more efficiently. read more

I really want to like Take 5, but my last couple of experiences have told me I'm better off going elsewhere. The most recent time, we were informed that it was going to be about a 20 minute wait once they pulled us in. We said that was OK. Well, 20 minutes pass and the mechanic walked over and said since his coworker went on break, we now had to wait another 30+ minutes before they could begin. Had they said that it was going to be an hour wait to begin with, we would have gone elsewhere. However, to wait until I was in the bay is not a good look. Plus, this location had inconsistent hours after the new location in Sparks opened, so not good. I like Take 5, have had good experiences elsewhere, but they need to do something about Reno. read more

We went in around 430 on Friday there was a small wait and it was great gave us enough time to eat take out in the car. We had Jason help us and he was awesome. I didn't catch the other gentleman name but he was friendly and because there was a small wait brought us eaters and fruit snacks for our kiddo. Great prices, excellent customer service. And I would definitely recommend this place. Also, they recognized the bolt on are oil under neath was flat and they had to get it out and they did and they replaced the bolt for no charge. As a founding member of the quick oil change industry, with 40 years in the business I find it discouraging that these shops no longer check gear box fluid levels. As far as professional, well trained staff, there is room for improvement. Sitting out front for 10 minutes before being greeted is not acceptable (only two vehicles in the 3-car bays). Once in the shop, Justin (your service writer) did nothing but mumble and spent more time trying to upgrade the service rather than getting to work. As usual, showing the customer the air filter and just saying it's dirty will not get you a sale, especially when a trained eye can easily see it is still good. Open up the pleats and see what's really going on. I recommend the owner spend some time actually working in the shop along side the crew and see reality!!! read more

For some reason it wouldn't let me update my previous review, so here I am again. Nathan was quick to greet us and let us know it was gonna be a few minutes when we first drove up. Since we showed up the day after the first snow day of 2024, Nathan let us park our car in their garage to get out of the cold. Just a couple minutes after we were let into the garage, Nathan and Marcus started working on my car. A third guy came to help and we were out of there within minutes. Both Nathan and Marcus were so nice and they provided AH-MAY-ZING customer service. I'm sorry boys you have to work in the cold, but now I can drive to California with a new oil change, air in my tires and all the fixin's. I went there for a routine oil change. Jiffy Lube had a one hour wait. They had no wait and took care of me immediately. The service was excellent, and they comprehensively checked all fluid levels in my car. What I really like is they offer a free check in halfway before your next oil change is due. I just had that check done and they filled up a quart of oil and added coolant -- all for free. It's an older car, so these mid-term checks are helpful. I have had dozens of oil changes on multiple vehicles. I can't attest to others here but can tell you they fully deserve 5 stars. I have a diesel 2024 Silverado. First, they were just over $100 dollars less expensive. Second, they provided far more value in filling the windshield washer, checking the tire pressures, that the dealership does not do. And bonus that savings comes with getting synthetic oil lasting twice as long. No brainer. I waited for my first oil change with an appointment 4.5 hours. I don't like the name 5 minute as it was not 5 minutes and leads many to think they don't make sure everything they check is done. Better to be called pit stop maybe. read more

I had a few bad experiences with my dealer's service center after moving to Reno three years ago, so I was shopping around for mechanics to cover the basics. Our Yelp CM Michael T. did a spot-on review of Take5 that opened the door, and after chatting with the manager via messages, I was sold. The real selling point for me is that you are shown EVERYTHING being done. Contrary to every other garage out there, your vehicle isn't shuttled off behind closed doors where you just have to take their word for the work being done. Instead, Take5 makes a point to show you the clarity of your oil, your dip-stick measurement, etc. They top off fluids and check your tires, as well, and if you need air filters changed, they've got you covered there, too. After, they even clean your windows. The test for me on a garage upselling? Those damn air filters. I change my own. I do it before getting service. Take5 took one look and said, "spotless, you're good there." By contrast, my dealer? Only told me I needed new filters...did they even look? Either they looked and tried to upsell anyway, or they didn't look at all and just went for the easy add-on. Kudos to Take5. Yes, you are greeted at the door with an offer of a water bottle. Service and hospitality are paramount, that's the business model and they ace it. Everyone was engaging, carried a professional presentation of themselves, was informative, talked through the process both to themselves and to me, the customer. And the discounts! 25% for veterans and military? Other coupons available? If you're price shopping, they can't be beat, either. I'm not prone to 5-star nor 1-star reviews, but Take5 deserves this one. They are brand new, yet utterly seamless. Theirs is the kind of service I expect from a white-tablecloth restaurant, not an auto garage. Time is our most valuable asset and this is the kinda service I've been looking for regluar maintenance and everyone should take advantage of it! Oil changes are more and more expensive, and while I never DIY this, I do keep track of the costs via the promotions from local parts stores and it's making less and less sense to even try it, especially when there are places like Take 5. I searched Yelp for a quick oil change and found Take 5. They're a newer business and offering $15 off service, so I called a few other places to gauge pricing. I wanted to see if they were competitive, and they were with an $89 full synthetic oil change, and that's before the discount! Better than the price was the service itself. The staff guides you as you roll your own vehicle in and then you stay in while the service is performed. I wasn't sure which level I needed for my vehicle so I asked. The cashier did try to upsell me with good reasons but another associate, who I believe may be the owner, said that while the "premium" level certainly couldn't hurt, he recommended the standard full synthetic and said to upgrade when the vehicle has more mileage on it. They also showed me the engine and cabin air filters and asked if I wanted to replace them. For the engine filter it was $26 and Amazon had the part for roughly the same cost, so I said go for it. The cabin air filter was quite a bit more expensive, not difficult to swap yourself and Amazon had the part much cheaper too, so I left that one for me. Out the door for the filter and oil change was the same as just the oil change at other places, so I'm happy with my decision to stop here and I think you will be too. read more
