The owners have really fixed the place up, adding new gravel and grading. There is a gate system with a code, to get in and out, and the whole lot has security cameras that are checked constantly. There is also a house nearby, where a family lives, so it is not just some unmonitored lot in the middle of nowhere. The owner is constantly looking for new ways to make this the best it can be and is open to feedback from the users. He is reliable and good about returning calls, and will even come out if there's an issue. They also use bill pay, which makes it easy to pay monthly, without dealing with checks.

Sure their website made everything look brand new and secure but would they prove it? They sure did. I made a reservation online, which is different than renting, and within the hour Kurt called me to see if I had any questions. I set up a tour for a few days later and that was that. When I toured the facility I was very surprised and pretty impressed. The front units are privately owned and the rental units are back a bit further. They are only a couple years old and are in very good condition. They have good security cameras and a gate that actually looks like it will keep people out. The inside units are a bit cheaper than the outside ones and are climate controlled and all units use Bluetooth to get in. No more losing keys! Kurt made the rental process super fast and easy. He was really thorough with the contract and was just all around a nice guy. I can tell that I'll have have a good rental experience just by the way they treated me before I even gave them any money.

They took 3X as long as predicted, charged over twice as much, and lost my most valuable possessions. To make matters worse, when I talked to the owner, Al Bartley, about where my missing boxes were, he accused me of lying saying he's sure they're at my house. I told him he can come by and search everything, but I wanted to know what facts he had that I didn't have that made him "certain" that my possessions were at my house. Since they used 3 different trucks at different parts of the process, and several movers worked part of the project and then left with a truck, I thought that they may have taken them away by mistake as the boxes missing, all marked "open first" and "fragile" were in the same area when they were moved. On one call trying to track down my missing packages (which included my medications and my hearing aids), the staff hung up with me. I was told I shouldn't have packed medications and they called to tell me so. They did NOT. And, of course, they paid me $60 to cover my losses of over $10K as they said they only owe $0.60/lbs and this is more than the weight of what was lost. PLEASE, PLEASE never use Big Al's Specialty Movers for any move. I can't imagine a worse possible experience than I encountered during and after the move.

House was sold the 21st of August. First week Or two, the move out day we chose was Monday the 9th of October 2023. My daughter in law came 3 weeks (I think?) ago with a family friend that had the large truck and the two of them literally moved all of the heavy furniture including my huge front loader washer and dryer. The washing machine had a small second machine that does hand washing, delicates or one outfit you decide at the last minute to wash and dry. It's super simple and is great for emergencies and delicates. It's called a pedestal I think. So that's the base to the washer. The entire corner on Santa Monica Blvd. I am a freak about zero stains, no wrinkles, this set does it all and underneath it is a full size drawer to store back up stuff.
