Peter, the husband of the owner, helps run the shop and is very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. We stopped here on a chef led food tour and he gave us the scoop on their chocolate which is sourced from a cacao farm. This ain't your Hershey's or Nestle chocolate but farm to table authentic chocolate that is high quality, natural ingredients. You can see them making their products through the windows which the kids liked. They ran out of their chocolate chip cookie but we preordered a few from their next batch and they were warm and delicious- sweet with a hint of salt. 5/5 from our family (ages 10-48 yrs old). The owner is incredibly rude. After being second in line for ten minutes while she chatted about her trips to India, she leaves the register to go continue having that conversation with the customers that were in front of me. Left me standing there waiting to order until a nice barista came to help. Waited an additional 10 min for my coffee and I was only the second person in the store! I would give this store less than one star if I could because of their snarky response to my review. Their customer service is awful. They can stand behind their dogma but at the end of the day, the customers are the ones who lose out. The whole point of making chocolate is the finished product!! If they really cared about their customers they'd provide samples of both so that people can understand the various components of the chocolate making experience. Have a taste of chocolate liquor and see how that compares to the final product. If they wanted to make it the full experience, they could provide samples of nibs, too. For the record, I've sampled nibs at Theo. ------------------------ I have been into their store many times. During my last visit, the staff was very friendly. But, I have NEVER been offered samples of their finished chocolate bars. I have tried samples of the chocolate they are processing in the machine from cocoa beans which is liquid like fondue. It tastes fine. But that liquid doesn't tell me what their chocolate bars are like. I can only assume the majority of their costs come from tempering the chocolate and making it into bars. NO other chocolate maker in Seattle is so stingy with samples of their finished product. Companies like Theo, Chocolopolis, Intrigue, and Fran's (although, not sure Fran's makes their own chocolate) are very generous with their samples. Because they know that once you sample it, you will surely buy a bar (or truffle). Maybe the lack of samples is a reflection of the quality of their product and no one would buy it if they tasted it first. The unfinished liquid product does not tell you what the bars will taste like at all. To me, the snap when you bit into the chocolate bar (from tempering, I think), is one of the most important things. And also just in general mouth feel, some chocolate bars have a crumbliness that I don't like. I have even been to events where Indi Chocolate attended and still they didn't offer samples of their chocolate bars. For this reason, I would be cautious about buying any of their chocolate bars. This is bad customer service. They do have testers of their cocoa-scented lotions available. They are nice...if you want to smell like food.I read more

Overall, this place was alright! We went for the sipping chocolate, which was around $5 for a small cup. The chocolate flavors were extremely rich, and the warm drink was nice for a cold day. Because the quantity was so small, I would say that it was not worth the price. However, it looked like they had some cool workshops so if I came back, maybe I would try that out instead! read more

This review is for the single origin dark chocolate Ghost Pepper bar. I was in Seattle, WA. just recently for the Northwest Chocolate festival and I stumbled upon their booth in the festival. I was in a chocolate buying mood that day and so I grabbed a bar to bring with me back to Portland. I had the bar at a local cafe that serves the perfect drinking chocolate with added spices. This bar complimented said drink very well. The heat intensity of the spices is medium I would say, but with the heat slowly building as the chocolate is consumed, and then crescendoing to a lingering long finish after the chocolate is fully consumed. This is a well done bar, especially if you're a fan of spices and chocolate. Recommended! read more

We met here for a savor seattle market tasting tour otherwise i wouldn't even have discovered them. As the name suggests its chocolate but its much more than that ig had a great range of hot and cold beverages, yummy chocolate treats to suit everyone taste buds and a range of body products that literally are to die for. Roaming around the Pike Place Market area, we were lucky enough to stumble upon this gem!! Indi chocolate is located with many other little shops underground and the aroma of chocolate had me hooked instantly! SETUP: The shop is tiny and filled with assorted chocolate items from lip balm, lotion, and of course CHOCOLATE! Everything there is directly from cacao bean farmers in order to support their businesses and make pure, REAL chocolate! CHOCOLATE: I purchased two sample chocolate pieces from Nicaragua and Amazones, both were extremely flavorful and tasted not too sweet but lots of cacao! I also purchased the Chocolate lotion w/ rose and it was wonderful! The lotion leaves my skin smooth and smelling like chocolate! *hint* you can sample the lotion and smell all the teas! The brownie was without a doubt the best brownie I have ever eaten. I'm going to order some to be delivered and I'm a little nervous because, you know, it can never be as good the second time around, right? This place is really good! They explain all the process of making chocolate and they have a variety of things to sample. I mainly stop by for espresso drinks which are great. Only reason I gave 4 stars is price. It's totally understandable because of the location but my mocha was $8 after tip last time I went. Would totally go here more if it wasn't so expensive. Randomly came across this chocolatier when we were exploring Pike Place Market. Everyone seems to have their Must Stop Shop at Pike Place -- this is mine. The shop is small but it manages to really transport you out of the bustle of the Market. It's amazing to take one step into the shop and be punched in the face with the smell of fresh cacao beans. It's so potent! The ambiance is really rustic and lovely. The last time I went, I noticed a handpainted map on the wall detailing where they source their beans..really cool! The chocolate is beyond delicious and the staff (family owned shop!) are incredibly friendly and knowledgable. Obviously, you have to get the chocolate. It's all 72% but there's Venezuela and Peru varieties. Both are amazing, though I have a slight preference for the Peru.. it's a little sweeter whereas the Venezuela is a little more bitter. I haven't tried it with the add-ins because it's so good without anything else, but I doubt anything they make is disappointing. read more

This place is awesome! They have some fantastic stuff in here. I fell in love with their lip balms! It's really nice to find a balm that has natural ingredients and doesn't feel or taste weird. I used to use a really expensive lip balm, but after finding their balms on a trip in Seattle, I've switched. Only bummer is it doesn't have SPF, but I don't care. I ordered some more when I got home, and Erin the owner was AMAZING. I've given some balms away as gifts, and my friends fell in love! Go visit this store when you are in Seattle! This is one dangerous place but in the BEST possible way. I sit here in my chair writing this review, smelling myself because guess what? I smell like CHOCOLATE. Why? SOAP. Freaking chocolate smelling amazing skin moisturizing soap. Mmmmmm. Not only does Indi Chocolate have amazing single source chocolate to delightfully melt in your mouth, but they carry an array of chocolate products so you can LIVE in chocolate. Erin ...the woman that runs this show...not only runs a chocolate shop but seriously, this amazing woman travels the world over to find her perfect beans and works directly with farms meaning that you know these people are being taken care of in a fair way. You know, that way we all try and shop, Fair Trade and such, well this is direct... straight from the source. I am blown away by her operation, drive and honestly, amazing personality to top it all off! To top off this wonderful bean to bar experience at Indi Chocolate... you have Tanner. Oh Tanner.. could you not be the best looking man in chocolate?! Seriously. Visit Indi Chocolate and you might have the chance of having a very handsome man sell you chocolate. I believe this is my dream come true. Well, I guess in my dream the chocolate would be free but hell, this is good enough for now. So there you have it... Americano was good but not the best I've had. Would note that the largest size is comparable to a medium at other places so if you are used to a large cup of caffeine it may not be the best place!
