My new obsession. I know I like Indian food, but I always become completely overwhelmed with what to order so I never do. Well today I bit the bullet and ordered several things and wow, I'm honestly blown away. I got the samosa appetizer and that was really good. Loved the green sauce that came with it. Then I got garlic naan and paneer naan, both of which were excellent. For entrees I decided to get two: malal kofta and chicken saag. I can't even describe the flavor because there's so much going on, but in a good way. Everything is just packed with so much flavor and then paired with their perfectly fluffy basmati rice. I was so impressed that this will probably be a regular spot for me for now on. Great food. read more

This place is delicious!! My husband and I tried it after reading all the positive reviews on Yelp. We ordered the samosas, butter chicken mild, curry chicken hot and an assortment of Nan's. Our favorite was definitely the curry chicken and I think I could go even a little bit hotter next time, we got it at level 4. The food was obviously prepared fresh as it came out piping hot. I don't love eating on paper plates and with plastic silverware so I think for future visits I will order it as carry out to enjoy at home. This place has been so good that we haven't tried another Indian cuisine restaurant! Thumbs up on the chicken curry!!! My guy...(who's obviously lost his mind) gets level 7 on the spice scale. After eating and profusely sweating and needing a shower after he's always completely satisfied especially with the heat. There's something about Indian spices that are so good! It was recommended to me to give this restaurant a try. I love Indian food and so in I went. The people that I spoke to were very nice and offered recommendations when I asked. I was told that Cricket would be on the tv and sure enough, it was on. When asked about spicy level (1-7) I decided to go with 7. I like things hot. Plus, from experience most places say they have hot foods but when I try them they aren't as hot as I would like. Anyhow she was concerned when I ordered the 7. When I tried the food, it was amazing and very hot!! So be warned that 7 is like it says, very very hot! The naan was amazing as well. I felt like the price was also priced well. I ordered takeaway- food was ready when they said it would be. The chai masala was unlike any chai masala I've ever had and not in a good way; it was also cold. The food portions were not very substantial for the prices, nor was the food (dal, chicken tikka masal, and aloo ? - the one with potatoes and peas) particularly flavorful or spicy at medium spicy. Yummy food! FYI Naan does not automatically come with the food. Still, very good and ordering a 7 on the spicy scale is really good. If you are sensitive to spice, I'd go with a 2. They offer a special dish that is similar to a crepe, I forget what it's called, and that is super good. If you want something new I'd definitely look out for that. read more

Flavors are good, however I feel like I paid a ton for what I got. My bill was over 18.00 for this meal pictured. The meal itself was good, I would give it a solid 4 star rating. But the price to me drives it down to a three star. I don't think I'll be back because of that. read more

We stopped by for my daughters 18th birthday. The Curry's were delicious and at a 4 season level, almost too spicy! Loved the chicken 65. The order was big with plenty to share! I like that all the meals are served in carry out containers; some may find this tacky, but it's easy to take home and saves you a trip to the counter! Small inside, with only 4 or 5 tables. Don't forget that Hot food in plastic bowls can cause CANCER. Do your research before you eat the food served here in plastic containers. This place will make you SICK. Do NOT eat their chicken items. They have failed so many inspections- see for yourself. Recently their chicken is not cooked in curry & in their Biryani. Try to use their bathroom & you will never eat their food again. You have to pass the kitchen to use the bathroom & you see the filth & compromised quality of the way their food is cooked. YUCK! The chicken in the dish we ordered wasn't cooked & was chewy. When I showed it to Andrew he went back & came out yelling. Instead of apologizing to me for the bad quality of the food he said this is what we have & he asked us to leave. I am shocked by this man Andrew who is the owner. He always has had serious attitude problems. He never accepts anything is wrong in his food. I am literally shocked to see his rudeness. He made us leave in the middle of eating of the food. He won't accept that his food comes out wrong. He is worst man who could be in this customer service based industry. He doesn't know how to take criticism. My first time at India Chaat Cafe. I had their lunch combo chicken curry. I ordered it for take out and it took 10 minutes. I got spice level 4 and I'm glad I did because it was just right (enough to make my nose have some perspiration. The taste was very good. The quantity of food was good for the $10.99 cost. The combo came with two slices of Naan. The restaurant interior was clean and orderly. One customer was just leaving from eating inside and another was just leaving with take out. My dad swears this place has one of the best goat biryani he has ever had. Considering he spent the last 40 years living in Bangladesh and has eaten a lot of goat curries and biryani, I'd say that is pretty good. One of my favorites is the lamb saag (so tender) but the shrimp curry is really nice as well. Good food, spice level varies each time we go. I can usually get two meals out of my curry order. My only critique is that they do not give you nearly enough rice and to order more is ridiculously expensive (must be an Indian thing... Bangladeshis pile on the rice) . India Chaat is the only Indian restaurant I've visited that puts speed and convenience over the tradition fine-dining experience. The meals are affordable ($9 for a perfectly spiced chicken biryani, $7 for wonderfully creamy vegetable korma) and delicious. And in a nice twist, a posted scale lets you customize how spicy your dish will be. But I do have one complain. Dine-in orders are served entirely on disposable containers with plastic cutlery. As a result, the trash bins were overflowing with packaging. And of course none of it appeared recyclable, especially with food mixed in. Please, India Chaat, do the world a favor and use real plates and silverware for your dine-in meals. It feels better in the diner's hands and saves space in landfills. read more

hey, I just wanted to say this is the most authentic Indian food I have had in Dayton, OH. And I have been to the Indian sub-continent and had chaat there. Compare to the other Indian Restaurants in Dayton ( which are mostly over-priced, creamed up, tasteless Indian) this place is number one! The staff is also more friendly than any Indian restaurant in Dayton. If you are looking for an upscale decor this is not your place, but I believe the food more than makes up for it. They are also very fast and when a white girl asks for spicy they don't hold back....which I like. They also get a gold star in my book for being funny....the sign above says "Indian Chaat Cafe and Curry Out"...I mean come on! I do not give five stars because of the blatant wastefulness of Styrofoam containers. But you know....they don't have to pay for anyone to clean endless dishes, so cost benefit goes to the consumers. read more

I was so happy to find southern indian food! But the quality wasn't completely there. Dosas (fermented rice and lentil crispy crepes), iddli (steams fermented rice and lentil cakes), and thali. Today we had a paper Dosa, which has a sour dough flavor profile, due to the fermented lentils. It came with a coconut mint chutney, a little muted in flavor. The iddli I was underwhelmed by. I was expecting a smoother texture, but since it was my first time, I didn't know what exactly to expect. It also was served with sambar (lentil tomato base sauce/soup) and coconut mint chutney. we also ordered bhature...fry bread. I don't know how many hours ago this bhature was fried, but it tasted stale and was not even puffed up. It resembed more of a tortilla chip rather than a soft yeasty fry bread (brij mohan has ruined everyone else's bhature for me) My boyfriend however love the chicken tikka masala (hard to mess up), and i thought the flavor was exceptional too. The rice however, could have used some pizazz, it was a bit dry and less flavorful than ones I'm used to eating at indian restaurants. The service people were extremely kind and attentive! i would be back for the CTM and maybe an order of garlic naan instead. read more

The food is consistently excellent. Love the Samosa Chat, Wades, Dosa Masala, and Paneer TiKa masala. We always indulge in the fresh cane juice when available. The variety of Indian dishes includes northern standards as well as dosas and other south India specialties. This was our first time at Chaat and if I were grading strictly on food I would give it 4.5 stars but some things just took away from how great the food was. And, it was great food the chicken tikka masala at a level 5 was outstanding and the chicken curry also a 5 was awesome! The nan was excellent and what little tiny tastes of chutney we got were great! Now for the bad stuff... First, styrofoam EVERYWHERE! No real plates or real utensils in the joint. Second, when I asked for a cup with Ice to go along with my bottle of coke she looked at me as if I were insane (she did accommodate us with some in you guessed it a STYROFOAM cup). Third, don't expect to see the three chutney wheel of love at this place. If you want mint or onion chutney or the weird sweet plum-ish sauce you better ask for it and plan to be charged. Fourth, while everyone says the prices are reasonable I strongly disagree... The place doesn't have to pay a dishwasher or buy real dishes and it is definitely NOT a fine dining establishment so the prices should not reflect those of fine dining. We had lunch and it cost us 30 bucks for two! I think that's high... With that being said this is one of the better Indian spots except for the best by WSU! I'd highly recommend just maybe carry it out and use your own real plates and forks! read more

Could become my go-to Indian place, and this after just one try. Pluses - friendly, fast service. Reasonable prices. They come to ask how you are doing and heavens, they actually listen. Their regular customers know and seem to like them. They include South Indian dishes on the menu besides the good old Punjabi/Mughlai standbys. Cricket on Willow TV. And you can get honest to goodness Limca! Can Improves - My pakoras could be crispier, and also my masala dosai.. the semolina in the dosai batter showed. In the authentic version, its razor thin and edges are sharp enough to cut. I loved the coconut chutney and sambar with my dosai; wish I got the same with my pakoras. The mint and tamarind chutneys were lackluster by comparison to the dosai accompaniments. And please could you consider using reusable dishes? Okay, you can tell I'm picky. This is a very good place; it was busy on a Tuesday evening, and should stay that way. PS - After a second good visit, I've upped this to 4 stars. If I could eat from here every week, I would! We live in Columbus with plenty of great Indian food, but something about this place hits different. Highly recommend the Malai Kofta and Saag Paneer - so flavorful, filling, and absolutely delicious (and I'm not even a vegetarian!). Speaking of filling, my husband is a big eater - we often order three meals for the two of us from other places. But from here we split two meals and naan, and almost always have leftovers. Used to eat every weekend at Namaste, but they have gone very much downhill over the last few months (had a can of mixed vegetables in my Navratan Korma last visit at Namaste, had to try a new place). My Navratan Korma yesterday was the tastiest Indian food I have had in years!! Even from overseas when I was in the Navy! Was exploring different Indian restaurants and at the time this was the only location that was not closed and at first look I was not impressed, but that changed once I began eating my food. I ordered the chicken curry at a spice level 6, but it wasn't as hot as I wanted and the worker there said he could make it a 7, and that was just right.
