I eat here Chana Masala and Bhatura (fried flat bread). Channa masala was great taste with balance combination of acidity, spices, salt, and flavors. Bhatura was good though it was not fully puffed. Enjoyed this lunch. But problem was they turned off their air conditioning...it was like upper 70ies inside. while eating hot temperature and hot spicy channa masala made me uncomfortable. I enquired about it and person immediately turned it on. So I was like WTF; asking why did they turned off the AC---save utility? This may be the only review I ever write for a restaurant because I love this place so much! I want to see them do better business than the bigger chains around them. Indian Chaat was the first Indian food I've ever had. Chicken tikka masala is now my favorite food of choice. The wait time never seems long even on a busy day and alternatively the online ordering is easy and convenient. The service is great - of the many times I've ever been in there I've never seen an unhappy customer or worker. Know how much spice you can handle and ease in low and slow if you're unsure. I've know some to hurt the next day after ordering a spice level 8, but the hurt was self inflicted - the food was made perfectly. I like spice and don't mind a light glisten from sweat, so I stick with level 3. Skip Chipotle every so often and try something authentically delicious! Happy eats, folks! read more

I am surprised to see 4.5 for this place. Its good, but definitely not a 4.5* place. :P Unfortunately what this place calls a Hyderabadi Biriyani is not how a traditional Hyderabadi Biriyani will be. A word of caution: Their Vada will be soaked in oil. I have tried it 2-3 times and every single time I could have drained out litres of oil from the vada. :) They have a TV which usually shows some or the other cricket matches. read more

This place is all around strange. I guess I wasn't expecting what I walked into. It reminds me of small local pizza place with no real ambiance to the seating. I thought "well, maybe the food will blow me away". It was decent, but there was a big black hair baked into the appetizers. Then our food was served on paper plates with plastic utensils. It was freezing cold in there to boot. Not an enjoyable experience. The entrees were pretty good though, but not the best I've ever had. By no means am I an expert on Indian food (I'm pretty new to it, actually) but the other reviews are spot-on when they say this is the best, most authentic, and most reasonably priced Indian in the Dayton area. The atmosphere is very casual and feels more like a diner or a cafe than a restaurant, which appealed to me. I had an entertaining conversation with the owners, who are friendly and personable. My friend and I asked for an appetizer recommendation and they brought us one of their popular items, which was actually pretty lack-luster. Kind of runny and weird. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of it, so that doesn't really help you! But PLEASE do not let this deter you from trying Chaat. But the main dish, chicken tikka masala, was AMAZING. Mmmm. Large portion and low price! Very flavorful. Their spice scale is from 1 to 7, and they don't mind bringing the heat if you ask for it. I got a 3, and it had me breaking out in a sweat and asking for a glass of milk. (I'm kind of a wimp, though.) The few times I've been, it hasn't been too crowded, so you can get in and out of there within no more than 15 minutes, if you're doing "curry out." Love the pun. Love this place. read more

Second visit. First was excellent but pre-covid. This visit not so much. Had plain and stuffed dosa, idlli, and puri. Plain dosa did not have the same condiments as last time. Stuffed dosa not a lot of flavor. Idili was ordered with lentil curry but was plain. Puri very ungenerous with the filling. read more

Great place for some real good Indian food. We've eaten at quite a few places in the area and this one is the best so far. Great chicken Tikka Marsala and chicken curry. Best garlic Nan around too. Really compliments the food. One complaint... there is no happy medium between a 2 and 3 spice level (1 to 6 here). A two is too mild and a three is a bit too spicy. After being regular customers for over five years I'm shocked at the way the owner treated us this evening over a piece of hard chicken literally screamed at us and asked us to leave and never come back. We literally go there every other day I recently noticed that their chicken in the dishes has been chewy & raw. Attitude can only let you have so much success. I always forget this place is here. It's great for carryout. When you eat in you must order at the counter and then wait as they bring each dish to your table when it's ready. So you could be halfway through your meal when they bring your bread. But even then it's all fast service in comparison to other sit down restaurants. But the tableservice is just like you ordered carryout, with styrofoam and plastic tableware so you might as well take it home with you. The chicken curry had a really nice flavor and the raita was probably the best I've had, with diced veggies and onions. I also appreciate that they give you chutneys with your food, something some Indian restaurants neglect when ordering carryout. read more

This is one of our favorite places to get Indian Food in a hurry. The service is incredible, food is fast and so tasty! The owner is very hands on, even sometimes greets you at the door, opens the door and seats you when it is very much a casual "seat yourself" kind of place. There is even a putting green for kids to play on, and Cricket always playing on TV. Their platters are huge, but as always I love the Paneer Tikka Masala. It is so tangy and delicious! read more

Wanted to try this place out instead of the other Indian restaurant nearby. After having gone to both, I don't understand why Chaat Cafe is higher rated. Maybe it was the quick service? I ordered garlic naan and it tasted like it was premade and reheated. Bread ended up being soggy and not hot, crispy and fresh like Prems Chennai Delight. The entrees I ordered tasted ok and seemed more freshly made; however everything was brought out in plastic containers or other disposable materials. I didn't order take out. I ate in the restaurant, so it's not very environmentally friendly. Next time I'm craving Indian food, I'll go to the one in the Lyon's shopping plaza. I might have to wait a bit longer, but I'll enjoy my meal more and I eat on real dishes with metal cutlery. So disappointed in that soggy Naan bread.... read more

Their food is so authentic too and you can get North India and South India food/street food/appetizers. It isn't a sit down and be served restaurant, you go up to the counter, order, and they bring you your order. The place has several tables to sit at and a little lounge area at the front with couches (which I think is so neat and have claimed as my "spot") :) . The staff is also friendly and very helpful and they can special order things if you have something specific in mind that isn't on the menu. Been there there times in the month I have lived here. Consistently good. I prefer medium to medium hot spice. It is designated as carry out. As such, the interior is nothing fancy but the food is delicious. The garlic naan, saag, and Tikka masaka are all fantastic. Order online and I've never had to wait.
