This is a very sexy little Vietnamese club which has a lot of cool shows and singing and whatever, and it's a great little destination in the heart of the Vietnamese neighbourhood of Houston. Staff spoke English and was very friendly. The stage, sound and lighting is impressive. I bet you would be surprised. Several birthdays going on, many small groups at the tables and booths inside. While there is a bar, there is no seating at the bar. Instead, there are 3-4 small high tables near the bar with 2 seats. I think they should have more seating in the bar area as its difficult to mingle without either dancing or awkwardly sitting at someones table. They do serve food and there is odd table service. Odd because you don't know who the servers are. They aren't wearing uniforms, name tags, or anything to know if they work there or are customers.I think the cost to enter varies on who is performing. It costs more to buy tickets at the door, don't ask where to get them in advance though. I paid $15 but the ticket said $10. Performers were very good. I was actually chatting with one of them not knowing it. Next thing I knew they were up on stage. Overall I would go back but I think it's better to go with friends due to the strange bar layout. The Arena Theatre might seem big from the outside looking in but once you walk the hallways and arrive to the center, seating is fairly easy to find because it is one big circle. The concessions stand offer light snacks (pretzels, popcorn, hot dog, etc) and the average well drinks. I recommend locating the WC before the lights dim so you will not walk around in circles. I do not know if it was the sound engineer for that particular night, but the vocals were off in the beginning and there was a bit of feedback interference. About halfway through the event the sound was corrected. Overall, nice intimate spot to see your favorite artists up close and personal.

Later on in the night, we decided to stop by The Pour House Pub for a drink. The Pour House is located in a shopping center next to a pizza joint so parking shouldn't be a problem. Better yet, you can order pizza from the bar. The Pour House is your typical neighborhood sports bar. It's casual, with an outdoor patio, a long bar, TVs, and some tabletop seating. Plus some pool tables. Service was good but nothing really stood out to me. The biggest turn off was that you can smoke indoors here. Even the bartender was smoking. Not a fan.

You can reserve your tickets 10am on Fridays on their website however tickets go FAST! I prefer the lawn it's space for my kids to run around and we can spread out on a blanket and bring food, drinks and snacks. SMOKING IS PROHIBITED! Which one guy on Saturday decided to break this rule. Lawn chair are permitted to use. I prefer Friday night events as opposed to Saturday nights because Saturdays are CROWDED. Also parking can be a nightmare. However it's great family fun. There are restrooms available they also sell snacks and beverages (I bought a bottle of soda for $4!! Definitely bring your own food and drinks)

I can only assume that most of the renovations were behind the scenes in the theater itself because the outside left me wanting! Firstly, there were some nice improvements like trees. They did try to put in some plants, but I have to say that was the biggest disappointment. It looked like someone had just thrown some random plants around those trees in. It seemed like a very amateurish job. The second big disappointment was they have this huge Miller sculpture sign on the top of the hill where people sit to watch shows. People completely cover that hill during major events and that big monstrosity is only going to keep people from being able to see the show, not to mention that I'm sure some kids are going to try to climb that thing so it won't just be an obstruction, it will be a potential safety hazard. If they had to put it up at all,, they should've put it at the base of the hill on the back side. It will still be visible from Herman Park Drive. Other than those things I can't really see that much improvement. I love going to Miller! My one big suggestion is to take that sign off the hill before someone gets hurt. And there's probably going be a ton of complaints because of the obstruction of the view.
