A very cute little spot with good , homemade-tasting Indian food. Indian food doesn't have the same cache with Americans as, say, Mexican food , which I'd like to change , bc Indian food is so delicious with lots of savory and unique flavor profiles to choose from. If you're looking for something to mix into your weekly takeout or dine out repertoire, I'd suggest this place. Curry and chicken biryani were standouts for me. read more

We just ate here for the 1st time for my in-laws 42nd wedding anniversary. They are from India and have been wanting to eat here since this place opened. From 1st impressions it doesn't look like much from the outside, a red single family house that must have been renovated a long time ago. ( I've lived in Webster for a while and honestly didn't know this was here lol) the parking lot is huge so no need to worry about finding parking and they have a nice handicap ramp. The inside is totally different, though not that big, it had nice hardwood floors, a cozy seating area, a fireplace in the middle of the dining area and traditional Indian decor to and religious relics to make dining there an enjoyable experience When we stepped we were greeted immediately and seated immediately, granted we were the only ones there lol, the gentleman who was the only one working was our server and cook and he was extremely pleasant and patient with us when we ordered. The food was excellent, I ordered the Beef Curry, my fiancee ordered the Tandori Chicken for the table and myself and my father in law ordered the Sula wine to go with, I never had indian wine before but now I highly recommend trying this In conclusion I highly recommend this place, and I wish I would've dined here sooner, this restaurant has so much potential and space (maybe an area for outside seating in the future) for becoming a staple in the Webster and Indian Community and I hope it continues to grow and do well! read more

If I could give this place a 0, I would just for the service alone. We walked in and we were unaware that this place is more of ordering at the counter and serving yourself type of place. Instead of the person at the counter explaining it nicely, he has the worst attitude I have ever experienced and we were the only customers there. This was shockingly terrible food. We knew it was gonna be bad when we took the paneer makani out of the bag and it was just sloshing in the container of orange liquid as thin as water. We ordered mostly chicken dishes and one beef dish, a veggie dish and a few smaller items. While it smelled great there was nothing to back it up. There were scant amounts of chicken and mostly gravy which somehow didn't taste like anything. It's hard to use all those Indian spices and have the food not have any taste at all. The limited chicken that was in the gravy was dry and tasteless. This meal cost way too much money for this. This wasn't the first time we ordered from here but it was our last. The pickup time was fine and the packaging of the food well done. I was told I had accrued some money in points from previous orders, but that I couldn't apply it to this purchase because he had already cashed me out. Also disappointing. So good. Just as good as any of the other India House locations. This location used to be PhuKet (sp?) so it's small. Weirdly shaped restaurant. They don't appear to have many tables set up for in-house service - but we had no issue getting a table. You can tell they just opened - slow wait staff, with not many people eating in the restaurant. A steady stream of take-out patrons coming and in and out though. Food was fantastic. Chicken Vindaloo, Chicken Makni, Naan and Chana Masala for our table. Masala tea. We devoured our meal. Food was fantastic. Our favorite India House restaurant is on Clinton near Goodman - but this food is just as good. Welcome addition to Webster. The only downfall was we sat at the table closest to the front door. I was freezing.. door opening and closing and I realized (at the end of dinner) that there was a draft coming from the power outlet near my legs. Tough seat in the winter in Rochester! I enter the Indian house with an atmosphere of just an average Indian cuisine restaurant. Was not busy but understandable for a Sunday afternoon in Webster. I sit down to a buffet special menu slightly confused. Ordered a chicken Makhani (medium spice) with rice and house special cabbage curry. The food was delivered on what looked like a middle school style plastic lunch plate with naan bread resting on top. Now I believe food appearance is important but if the food is well made I let it slide. The chicken sauce and tenderness was perfect, just the right amount of seasoning and spice. The rice wasn't dry but an over abundance amount was on my plate. Lastly he cabbage was excellent with proper seasoning and spice. My overall meal for taste was 9/10, appearance was 6/10 and atmosphere was 6/10. I really enjoyed the flavor and taste of the meal. read more

This was an utterly horrible dining experience. There was only one waiter, who seemed preoccupied. The papadam were soggy and when I asked about it, he brought another basket of soggy papadam. The samosas were actually cold inside, and the 3 dishes we ordered were mediocre and took almost 30 minutes to arrive to the table. After sitting there for a full hour and a half, customers started swarming the cash register asking for their checks and complaining about the terrible service. The bathroom was dirty, and the acoustics were horrible. We could hear every conversation of every table except our own. I have a feeling that the Webster location of India House will fold within the year unless vast improvements are made. read more

The chicken was pink and the curry tasted like bad Taco Bell sauce. It is given to you on a tray like you're in prison. The naan is just pita bread. I'm giving 4 stars because I've always liked the food at this restaurant. Tonight we ordered take out with Grub Hub, and every thing was fine, actually quite delicious except the chicken in my chicken makhani was rock hard. Seriously, I expected to be able to cut it with the side of my fork, but the fork just skidded off. So I tried it again, and the chicken just flipped out from under the fork, so I stabbed it. The fork went into the chuck of chicken and I tried twisting it and a little chunklet of the chicken broke off. It was edible, but extremely dry and very tough. I don't actually think that I've ever seen chicken this tough. The sauce in this chicken makhani was excellent. Over rice, with naan, it was great. My husband's lamb korma was also outstanding. But man, that chicken.... I don't know what you can do with chicken to make it like that. read more

Four of us went there expecting a buffet per their website. The place looked deserted and the parking lot was a disaster. Completely empty our entire visit. No buffet! They had a few items listed as a lunch special. Entree, rice, naan, chutney and side dish. The server looked annoyed that we asked questions. We all ordered one of the lunch specials. The plates looked like someone had plopped the food on in a cafeteria line. Half the plate was rice, a teaspoon of chutney and made two tablespoons of the chickpea side dish. I was so impressed with the food here! I got a large order for pickup and it was ready really quickly. They also accepted a coupon that I had for another location since that location was closed unexpectedly. Hands down the best dish I got was the chicken korma. This is probably my favorite Indian dish, and it is honestly the best korma I have ever had. The flavors are amazing and it is not too spicy, which is important to me because I cannot handle spicy. This was our first time here last night. I have to use the handicap entrance's when I go to restaurants. So I had to walk up the ramp. That was an experience in itself trying the maneuver around the very low hanging branches of the tree that overhangs the ramp. When we walked in we could smell something not sure what it was but kinda stunk. The restaurant needs better lighting because it is very dark inside. Imagine trying to lean towards the left and to the right trying to read the menu depending on the glare of the lighting is quite annoying.The food was okay. Spicy even though we asked for very mild on the spice. The waiter we had seemed more interested in trying to talk with my wife and ask her how the food was rather than be a waiter to both of us. I thought that was very rude. We first the first table in there and had to wait quite some time for refills on water. There were only 2 other small tables that came in. They took quite a long time to make the food (which is the reason for the four stars) but other than that it was overall a great decision to try! Good news bad news. I enjoy Indian food but it's really easy to eat too much at a buffet. Good news, I didn't eat too much. Bad news, it was because the food was not very good. It was lukewarm,the nan was on the buffet, room temperature and dried out on the bottom. Not steamy and soft, brought to your table from the oven. There was only one couple on their way out when I went in for lunch today. No other customers. Once I tasted the food I really wished I could do a do over as in choose another restaurant. If I had only known. There was a young man waiting tables. He was nice, the only bright spot from that experience. The pickles were good. I got there at 1:30, maybe I should have gone in when they first opened for lunch. Not sure it would have helped. And I'm not willing to give it another try. Once people spend the money and time to open a restaurant, I would think they would make sure the food was good. Why would they think mediocre food would bring anyone back in. And it was over $11 not including the tip. I've eaten at the other India House restaurants. Been a while but I remember them being much better than this. Im not a typical yelper but also not a typical Indian food eater. Was visiting a buddy in the area who recently turned vegetarian. So i thought i would give it a try (but ate meat). The red chicken dish (chicken makhani) was really eye opening and made me think that I actually do like Indian food. So then with no hesitation i went and indulged in the rest of the buffet and wasn't disappointed with anything I put on my plate.
