Flavors Indian Restaurant just off Main Street in the heart of Canandaigua is quite the find for Indian cuisine in the Finger Lakes region. It is located in an older strip mall that has seen better days. The interiors are a bit dark and could use brighter lighting. While the inside isn't fancy, the restaurant was still well decorated and clean, and most importantly, serves up tasty and flavorful food. They also have an array of Indian snacks and drinks available for purchase/take out, which was a nice touch because they probably aren't readily available in the general area. To start off, we went with the vegetable bhajia (3.5/5) which were good, but would have preferred they made them a little crispier. For meals, we went the paneer makhani and vegetable muglai (both 4.5/5). Both dishes had gravies of high quality, which I wasn't expecting in the Finger Lakes area, as they could go toe to toe with quality Indian restaurants you find in the NJ/PA area. The naan (5/5) was fluffy and delicious as well. The service (I think by the owner) was warm and friendly. There weren't many customers which had us concerned a bit, but he explained that most of the restaurants in Canandaigua have an early dinner crowd and also tend to close early as most locals don't dine out very late. They do automatically add an 18% service charge, which we didn't mind as prices for everything were very reasonable and we probably would have tipped more than that anyway cause of the satisfying experience. Overall, I'd the restaurant a 4.5 out of 5, and would recommend Flavors for quality Indian cuisine in Canandaigua. I wouldn't hesitate to return here for a meal should my travels bring me back to the Finger Lakes. read more

They cater to those in our group who like spicy food and those that only like their food mild. The naan bread is always fresh and delicious. They do a large takeout business. True to its name, the food is extremely flavorful and delicious! read more

Delicious food and great service! Was driving through the area and we decided to stop by for lunch. There is plenty of parking out front. The lunch special was $10.99 and you could pick one or two items from the list. For an up charge you can get all of the different options. It comes with naan and rice as well. I got the Chicken Makhani and Chana Masala lunch special as well as a mango lassi. I thought the food was delicious and filling at a great price. I've heard it's a hidden gem in Canandaigua but have never been able to visit. The food was good. But I'm a believer that it's better in person/in dining. We were very impressed with the service and food! We went to Central on Main last night and I ordered from Flavors. This was my first meal from there and won't be the last! Each item was delicious and the spices exotic for these tastebuds! My daughters were patiently waiting for their meal from another restaurant and each tried my dish from Flavors. They loved it too! We each agreed to return for Flavors again in the future. The online portal wouldn't allow me to place my order- but a quick phone call started the Flavor train! read more

Im visiting from out of town but this restaurant left much to be desired, primarily due to the poor customer service and minuscule portion sizes. I was shocked at how small the portions were. The prices were not reflective of the quantity of food we received. It felt like we were being charged a premium for what essentially amounted to appetizer-sized servings. Overall, the combination of lackluster customer service and meager portions made for a disappointing dining experience, and I won't be returning. Now I know they the restaurant was empty ! This is an excellent Indian restaurant. We have been coming here for years. The food is delicious, and the service is excellent. We don't generally go to the buffet, so our experience is mainly with the individual dishes. Our favorites include biryani, chicken, tikka masala, and xacutti. Oh, and how could I forget their bread? Obsessed with Flavors, to the point of eating it twice a week since we found each other. Like many Canandaigua fine establishments, Flavors is found in a plaza, off of Main Street, next to a military recruitment center. It may not look like much, but it's the inside that counts! And the inside of Flavors is aromatic and wonderful! Wednesdays and Fridays, this Indian restaurant features live, beautiful flute music. Coming here for the first time, I got to sit directly facing and next to the flute player, and the music was so peaceful that it lulled me into not needing my personal space any longer. My favorite is to order the tandoori shrimp, yellowed with fantastic spices and served sizzling atop sauteed green peppers and onions, almost fajita style. The naan bread is insane, plain or adventurous when filled with coconut and apricot. I love the rice pudding, an absolute classic, that is also found on the weekday lunch buffet. The flavour special is another way to get a sampler of their offerings, coming with the shrimp and chicken. The details here are quirky and cute. The tandoori shrimp fajita pan comes with a hot pepper oven safe little mit on its handle. Each table is also set with "Keep Calm" candle holders that read different sayings. From the moment we walked through the door, for this our first visit, we were greeted with friendly staff, eager to seat us, offer menu suggestions attend to our every dining concern. We very much enjoyed the fried vegetable appetizer that we shared. I ordered the Xacuti with tofu and my partner had the chicken makhani. An order the garlic naan was hot and very delicious. I also ordered the chai tea which was wonderful. We very much enjoyed our dinner and the service and will come back soon. read more

This is a nice little gem tucked away on the Lafayette Ave strip! I came here to eat on a Friday evening and was immediately helped by a lone server who acted as host, waiter, cashier, and probably security. A big guy of few words, he was probably one of the most efficient servers I had. He checked on us frequently, served our food fast, changed our appetizer plates to dinner plates, and gave us the bill without any prompting. To some it may feel kind of rushed, but I was thoroughly impressed, especially while helping a semi full house! Anyways aside from being helped by "security," here's what I tasted: Vegetable Samosas: Two very large, crispy, hot and spicy morsels. I'm really glad these were spicy inside. Being a staple in Indian restaurants, I don't have much more to add. Naan: You know, i expected naan to be case of "if you've tried one, then you've tried them all." I don't know why, but this was hands down the best naan I ever ate. Crispy, warm, and buttery to the point that I wanted to lay down and watch a movie while eating this. I... I need more of it! Saagwala: Spinach bliss! We had it with white meat chicken and was a great blend of flavor, and not too spicy. I enjoyed it, but wasn't too memorable for me. Tikka Masala: My usual go-to and was ordered with tender lamb. I was in love with this dish and was pleasantly surprised by the large chopped vegetables as opposed to seeing finely diced in the curry blend. Ordered medium spicy, and totally satisfied by curry cravings! The meal was finished off with the chilled Kheer rice pudding; a mildly sweet with a coconut milk taste and finely chopped nuts for texture. A complete contrast to the heavy meal we had, but I'm glad I gave this a shot! I really wasn't sure what to expect when I was invited out to the restaurant, but overall it was an evening of delicious food, efficient service, and a comfortable ambiance. I'm a die-hard fan of Thali of India, but if I lived closer, I'd come here more often! read more

Wow this was yummy. We had the tiki masala and the makhani and LOVED it. Our kids ate the samosas and another appetizer and they were both a hit. The restaurant had markers and activity sheets for our kids and the server was one of the most friendly people I've met. There were tons of people doing pick up orders while we were there, so it seemed like it was a popular restaurant, but we still got our food quickly on a Saturday night. My favorite Indian restaurant in Upstate NY so far! I'm picky with my Indian food, but they do a very good job with many of their dishes. Bell peppers are a unique add to some of their curries, but it works great. We'll definitely be back. read more

Thoroughly love this place! I've tried Indian restaurants all over MA and Indiana and this one is one of the best! The first time here we ordered dishes from the usual menu as it was a weekend evening and no buffet. I ordered the lamb Xacutti. The food was hands down the best lamb dish I've had. Usually lamb dishes at an Indian restaurant are great in their own right (usually because the success is AMAZING), but the meat itself is usually a bit dry. Flavors did NOT let this lamb become dry. Add to that a delicious sauce, perfectly cooked rice, flavorful garlic Nan, and a well balanced mango Lassi, and you have me hooked. I've returned for their dinner buffets a few times, and though I can't customize the spice level with these dishes, it gives me an opportunity to try more options (what else is a buffet for?). Everything has always been fresh and I've seen them refill everything at a steady pace to keep the buffet well stocked. For the Wednesday night buffets, you'll also find live music. The artist's style of music creates a calm and ambient atmosphere - really helps relax you! Delicious meal, soothing atmosphere, great service = happy customer! read more

Solid choice (not to mention the only choice) for Indian in the finger lakes area. Its cool that the owner saw an open market for an Indian restaurant here and took the opportunity. Came here on a saturday evening and it was only about 1/4 full but the place is still new. My boyfriend and I travel about 40 minutes just to eat here. We go once a month and it's always on point. The service is always good, and so is the food. Try the buttered chicken, that's my boyfriend's favorite. I love the samosa. They have vegetarian ones as well. This place is great for anyone into simple dishes or looking for something different.
