This place is fantastic! The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. The service was fast and friendly. Simply the best! Every time we visit Montgomery we go to India Palace. From the spicy papadam, savory samosas, delicious main dishes like biryani and shahi paneer to the perfect garlic nan, every thing was wonderful! They're back! Hooray! Surat Singh works his magic in the kitchen, Everything is "hand-made" including the naan, which comes hot from the tandoori oven. Many Indian families are usually there when I've visited. The buffet is wonderful, as it was in the previous location. We've only gone for an evening meal once so far. That was on Valentines Day and they were offering a special menu. It was great. My wife cannot tolerate gluten, so they gave her a special gluten-free dessert. This was my first time ever trying Indian food. I was absolutley floored by the flavor in thier tandoori chicken. I had a 7 out of 10 spicy according to thier scale. Now i love spicy foods and eat ghost pepper sauce on most of my food. But i will warn people weary of heat not to venture too far up that 1-10 rating. The seven was perfectly fine for me and maybe not even enough, but other people at work i shared the dish with quickly looked for relief. I also had the Garlic Naan and Raita. The Naan was excellent with fresh chunks of garlic. The Raita seemed like a watered down version of tatzike sauce, good but not something i would have to order every visit. I tend to expand my knowledge of this fantastic cusine as soon as possible and will return after many meals featuring a sweaty brow and stomach too full to finish the days work after lunch. read more

Really good indian food! I have only been there for dinner and really enjoyed the meat filled Samoa's (sp). They also have lamb dishes which I found tasty. I had their dessert that was similar to their rice pudding as well as what tasted like a sweet naan bread. Both were pretty good. Their menu seems pretty expansive which I appreciated. I was so pleased to find that India Palace had reopened on Vaughn after closing on McGehee last year! This place is incredibly good. I love their lamb dishes and their mixed tandoori grill. read more

Great food and service. I've only been for dinner. I usually order a lamb dish with a Kingfisher beer. I generally have enough for leftovers the next day and the food is excellent as a leftover because the spices marry overnight for more intense flavor. They ask your heat level so you don't have to worry about the food being too spicy/hot. read more

I love this restaurant. I go here for lunch once a month when I'm in Montgomery. There is plenty of seating and never a wait. The buffet does not have a lot of options, but it has enough of a variety. The buffet typically has basmati rice, paneer (cheese) dish, 2 vegetarian curries, fried appetizer, naan, salad mix, the best tandoori chicken and chicken curry I've ever had, great tikka masala, and the basmati with meat. I have been to lots of Indian restaurants it's not my first time eating at an Indian restaurant. Their have Good food but bad customer service. DO NOT expect them to entertain any preference you might have for how you would like your food. You can request them to cook food according to your preference but they will serve what they want and if you question them why, they will simply say this is how our food is served regardless of how you want it. Will not acknowledge their mistake and simply walk off from your table. read more

The lunch buffet here has a little of everything I love about Indian food. My favorite, the palak paneer, is spicy and creamy and delicious.

dis place was very good.. i came late at nite n they were very nice. da food was really good.. i got da goat marsala.. i think it was goat.. goat or lamb... lol.. dont b da-umm.. n ask wut meat they like.. cuz da gentleman i asked was Indian n doesnt eat me... so stick 2 wut u kno.. i ordered it medium spicy.. n it was jus da rite amount of kick.. da naan was good.. scenery was very nice n well decorated.. lots of space... parkin lot seems questionable at nite.. but inside is where all da magic happens.. i would recommend dis place if u r in2 Indian food n near by... definitely worth da stop.. i would come bak here again if i was ever in da area. Yes! They are back, and better than ever. This is a great restaurant. If you have any interest in Indian food and live in or are passing through Montgomery, AL, you must try it. All of the dishes are very good. The breads are great, and the service is friendly and attentive. However, the reason I give it 5 stars is because of the India Palace's version of an appetizer called Samosa Chat. It is a 5 star restaurant quality dish. It is an incredibly savory blend of spice, tamarind, mint sauce, yogurt, pastry, and chick peas. Friday night's version was beautifully presented and piping hot. In all sincerity, this one dish is worth the visit to the restaurant. A trip to the India Palace is an experience which will transport you from the Deep South to an exotic land of delicious food and music. Bubba, for one night, become a Bubbah. It is conveniently located at Vaughn Road and the Eastern Blvd., yet still a bit hard to find. Tell Amen and Chris that Frank says hello. read more

Food is definitely good. The prices are a bit inconsistent for entrees given the portion served. Very good overall.

This is consistently great food! I love that there are usually 4 or 5 vegetarian options on the buffet for lunch. The food is fresh and not greasy like a lot of buffets can be. This is a favorite place for my entire family. read more

We've eaten here a number of times since moving from New York City to Montgomery last fall. It's very good. The lunch is usually a nice spread at the steam table. Dinner is ordered off the menu. The service is friendly. The decor is a little spare, but I'm not there for the look. I'm there for good food and India Palace delivers on that score. Give this one a try. read more
