Decided to try this Indian spot in Montgomery due to its good reviews. Located in a strip mall in the east chase area. Service was good. They have a lunch Buffett available for $19.99, but k opted for an entree. I enjoyed the chicken tikka masala - the medium level was not spicy to me at all so if you want spicy, you need to ask for a level up. The garlic naan was soft and delicious. I was most surprised by the prices here. For lunch, this meal came out to $32. The price is what knocks this place down a few stars for me since it is double what I would normally pay for this exact same meal in Birmingham. read more

The food was two or three days old and tasted like it had been stored in a refrigerator without a top on it. The food for all four of us was stale and NOT fresh . Our individual dinners were $23.00 before tip. This is the second and last time we will eat at Saffron Indian Kitchen !!! read more

Went here a few days back. Once I entered no one really greets you so if you don't know what to do just go straight for the buffet or ask. Food was good but there was no chicken biriyani at the time I went at so was a bit disappointed. Had some butter naan, butter chicken and Palak paneer which was good. Some tandoori chicken as well and tried the chicken curry and mutton curry. Didn't feel like the options were much but I guess for the vegetarian side there was a lot more but I'm not a huge veg guy. The mango ice cream was melted. Not much service to go around except for drinks and your bill so not much to say. Atmosphere is pleasant because there wasn't too many people so it's not too noisy. Overall it's an alright place but maybe I had more expectations from the talk around it. read more

Holes on the ceilings, untidy(dirty) restrooms and overall shabby. But, saw through that for the food. If you're not into Indian foods, then the ambiance will put you off. We are Indian food seekers in our travels. Happy to find this place in Montgomery. Service was on point. Restaurant was filled with Indian people which we took as a good sign. All of our food was good and flavorful. Lamb dish meat was about %40 tough fat but seemed authentic -just not for me. Sauce was rich and flavorful though. Other dishes were really good. Samosas are almost always good-- it's just a terrific dish. But Saffron's samosas are out of this world: a crisp, flaky crust that doesn't disintegrate upon contact with your fingers, and the potato innards blended smooth to go with the veggies, so the first bite doesn't collapse the morsel as a whole. All the other dishes were top-notch, as well. Couple that with the service and prices, and you've got a phenomenal restaurant. I was at Montgomery last weekend and I went to Indian restraurant with some friends. This Indian  restraurant had buffet during lunch time so I went during lunch time. The restraurant was clean and buffet area was clean too. The restraurant was overall well organized and had nice decorations. There were many food options at the buffet and the foods was really delicious. I did not see any COVID 19 precaution. The restraurant is eco friendly since their plates and utensil were reusables. Me and a few buddies came here for their lunch buffet on a Saturday late morning (11AM) and were starving. It was essentially brunch and we havent ate breakfast. So right when they opened, we came in and we started eating and eating. The weekend price is a little bit more than their weekday, but overall we were pretty impressed with the quality of food. We were really surprised to find some decent quality indian cuisine in the Montgomery area, but we are glad we came to try it out. They had different kinds of rice, and different curries with chicken, potatoes, and goat. The curry goat was my favorite since lamb and goat is generally my favorite type of meat. I had maybe 3 plates of just curry goat with rice. They also had fresh naan bread to dip your curry. We left stuffed and it sat heavy where when we got back, we all took a nice nap. So I want to preface this by saying I'm from NY so finding this gem was definitely unexpected as I'm a major foodie. I was and am completely satisfied with my food as well as my partner who enjoyed her food just as much. The presentation was great, the staff friendly, and the food exceptional. So I've had the buffet here twice and it's been pretty good each time. Only being disappointed by one or two items. But after tonight I'd say skip the buffet all together and just order off the menu. Of course Indian food is often expensive because of all the work put into the sauces. But it's worth it. There are items on the menu that are totally worth trying but I may never see them on the buffet because of the work involved making them or maybe they just want to put out the more popular type dishes "Americans" like. First: Malai Kofta - this is a vegetarian dish of veggie dumplings in a creamy cashew sauce. It's so good!! My sister and I liked it even over the meat dishes. It's rich and creamy but without feeling heavy. Second: Paneer Makhani - this dish has been on the buffet before, but of course it taste much better fresh. The tomato sauce is creamy and smooth. Third: Gobi Manchurian- this is a fried cauliflower dish that's spicy. If ordering in house it will probably keep it's crunch. But I ordered out so the steam from it being packed up took a bit of that away. But it was still amazing! They have some Indo-Chinese dishes and this tasted like one of them. Almost like a GeneralTso's chicken but with cauliflower instead. Very good and just the right level of spiciness. I'm definitely going to go back and order off the menu again. Definitely worth the price and I'd like to see if the dishes that I was disappointed by on the buffet are better off menu. read more

Very good food! I went during lunch and the buffet was being served. Many of the common Indian dishes and more were found. All were flavorful and delicious! My boyfriend enjoyed the goat curry so much that it was the only thing he was getting. Dessert was on the sweeter side of my liking but I was happy to try them. read more

Awesome lunch experience! The food was delicious, I went during their buffet, and tried two curries, potato dishes, veggies, grilled chicken and masala and it was all very flavorful. I liked the yogurt sauce and had naan with a sweet tamarind sauce. Service was great as well, and the mango frozen dessert was so good. Took home some of the sweets as well, a mix of varieties and they're all wonderful and not too sweet. Will definitely go back for dinner, and probably stop in occasionally for take out too.
