Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Biryani, chicken kadai
    Lauren G.

Rating based on take out: this spot is phenomenal! We have ordered here multiple times now and it is on our regular rotation. Food is ready quickly 20ish minutes usually on a week night. The sauces are flavorful and authentic. The chicken has been cooked perfectly each time. We have gotten the lamb Biryani, chicken tikka masala (always), chicken kadai and multiple different types of naan. Good portions and priced as expected.

Good food but a little pricy for buffet. Service good sat in patio. Would come back but lunch specials are better deals than the buffet.

Fantastic vegetarian menu selection. I ordered the navarathan Korma and it was great. I ordered it mild.. I wish I had it a bit more spicy. The chicken vindaloo was a 6/10 spicy, which was okay. Service was great. Bathroom could use a wash and hand soap. This seems like a restaurant more known for take out, so the restaurant was a little cold and empty,

Bottom line: the food was 5 stars, but the service was 3 stars. To be honest, the food was so good, the server could've been outright rude to me, and I'd still come back. The only complaint is that they were a bit slow and very inattentive, but that's not a deterrent for me with food this yummy! I've been to India, and this was some of the best korma I've ever had. The sweet lassi brought back the fondest memories of my time in India. The prices are a little high, but it was more than enough food for lunch today and leftovers for dinner. I will absolutely be back in the future.

    Oily, yeasty bread

Mediocre at best and anything using meat is slightly tangy...Goat vindaloo not spicy at all. Mango lassi thick like sauce and roti was just oily, yeasty bread.

The only reason for four stars is the service. They were respectful but not friendly. It felt cold and too much like a business transaction. My table cloth also had some food on the side that they may not had noticed. It was hard to tell if it was recent or old. The food was absolutely amazing. They serve everyone the "chips". Definitely home made. Very crunchy, but melts in the mouth. Served with a spicy mint sauce and another very sweet sauce. The app I ordered was basically fried cheese which was okay. The samosa was amazing. The fried bit was crunchy and soft and the chickpea and pea filling was seasoned perfectly. But the pakora. Heaven. Very crunchy. The onion flavor was amazing. The naan bread was different than I am used to. It was thinner which I really liked. It was crunchy and soft in the thicker parts. Really good. The lamb vindaloo was spicy but not crazy. The spices and sauce were outstanding. The lamb was super tender. It was very good. Definitely recommend. I hope I caught them on a bad day because the food was great. The total bill with a super generous tip was only $40 and I left with like half the food in a box because I was so full. Great Indian food!

Very Pleased with India Palace The buffet at India Palace is the only one in town and well worth the $14 price! On our visit we were pleased that the ambience, food, décor, cleanliness, and cost were pleasantly aligned. What did I like the most? The tandoori chicken (juicy pieces, and not burned to a crisp), naan (chewy and crispy, not soggy and charred), the rice (fluffy), the assorted curries (I always take a sample of each), the riata (the yogurt sauce is very fresh and flavorful and I pour it over everything, especially on the flavored rice for which it is meant). If you haven't been to India Palace for awhile, give it another try. They also have an Auburn location. In fact, it was the deliciousness (dine in only) of that restaurant with the same name and ownership that prompted me to ask if they were connected to the one in Montgomery (the original opened in 2008 and obviously went through several owners before the current one). We will be regulars again.

NOT an Indian buffet. There is a buffet there, but it's empty. They said they only do a regular lunch menu now.

You could feel the love in the room. We started with the samosas, which were crispy on the outside, perfectly spiced on the inside--classic and comforting. The butter chicken was a standout: rich, velvety, and full of flavor without being too heavy. The lamb chops were tender and juicy, with seasoning that made every bite count. And the garlic naan? I will say that I have been going to India Palace for a little over a year, and I have had the…read moreopportunity to experiment with lots of different dishes, as well as different experiences such as the lunch buffet. Only one time have I had any issues, where the provided rice tasted and smelled 'sour,' upon arrival home from a takeout order. Otherwise, food has been up to standard and very good. Service is typically good, although there was a time when I walked in and the gentleman at the counter did not seem to be able to speak English. The restaurant is brightly lit inside, definitely giving it more of a lunch vibe than a dinner one. The sheltered patio space on the wing of the building is darker. India Palace would benefit greatly from reducing prices 2-3 dollars on their main course items. As a college student living in a college town where cheap alternatives to fine dining are everywhere, there has been many a time where I have opted to not choose India Palace over somewhere else, due to the relative high prices of common items. The same way I wouldn't pay $18 for General Tso's Chicken is why I hesitate to choose an $18 Chicken Tikka Masala, or even the $20 Chicken Tandoori, with chicken being a cheap commodity in the Auburn-Opelika area. Prices are the only reason it doesn't get 5 stars. The restaurant feels more like a pricy lunch spot that you eat at and leave rather than go out for enjoy the time you spend there. Other than that, great restaurant when you're looking for something different and well-made.
