We drive by this place all the time but have never stopped to eat. This was the most authentic and delicious meal we've had in so long and the service was warm and hospitable. We will be back very soon and bringing friends with us next time. read more

We stopped by here a week or two ago because it said that the restaurant was air-conditioned. When we walked in it was not cool inside. We decided to stay. We assembled our food and sat at the table. I immediately noticed that the yogurt sauce was sour. I mentioned this to the waiter-person and he became very defensive. However, he did bring some more out from the back and it was much colder in temperature and tasted better. My friend then told him that the chicken was very dry. Again he became very defensive. He walked over to the bar where the chicken was located, and picked up every piece with his BARE hand, and squeezed each one. We were both in total shock! Obviously we did not eat our chicken but felt bad for the people who were eating theirs! This server did not even have on gloves. It was so disgusting that we will never return! I started noticing certain things about the restaurant I did not like. For example, our seats and were very sticky. The entire wall mirror was filthy. In fact, the whole place needed to be cleaned. I'm wondering if these guys need to have some kind of inspection. I highly suggest nobody eat there until they do. I cannot vouch for the restaurant side that is open in the evenings. It's possible that the food is better at night. But given that we watched with our bare eyes see this man pick up and squeeze the food with his bare hands is enough for me to never go back!! First time went to this restaurant and actually into any restaurant since the pandemic hit. So We were excited. Me being vegan was excited from the reviews that they took special care of vegans. Unfortunately my experience was not the same. My food contained butter when I specifically asked for it being made vegan. We were offered to make it again but I am not allergic to dairy and I hate wasting food so I just ate it. Then I felt bad about it later because I love animals too. Also, I was never offered the "chef's special" vegan meal, like the other reviewers. What I ordered from the menu tasted very basic. My friends and family (vegetarians) thought the food was just average. We had multiple servers and they were all good though. We will probably not be back. read more

Just had another great meal at India Palace in Mill Valley. But it was almost no meal at India Palace, why you ask? I checked Yelp to find the phone number to call in my order. Yelp showed it as CLOSED. Closed on a Sunday? Maybe due to a power outage in the area I thought. So I called my second choice to order but before I did , I thought call India Palace. Yes they were open. I asked why yelp showed it as CLOSED? I was told India Palace has tried unsuccessfully to have Yelp correct this. He said they had not changing it after multiple requests. Yelp, fix this! Stop messing with a business that has been around longer than your company! If it isn't corrected will I have lost trust in Yelp posting correct merchant information?. this place is definitely not better than lotus in san rafael. it's actually substantially worse. we ordered the lamb kebabs, veggie pakora, papadums, saag paneer and daal. all were tasteless and bland. there was a complete absence of flavor. the saag paneer tasted like nothing and the daal tasted like unseasoned lentils. if i wanted to taste lentils i would go to safeway and get a can of lentils and a can opener. not worth your time. i don't know if this restaurant was better in the past, the glowing reviews seem to indicate so, but as of now it's not good. it may even be actively bad. on second thought, the papadums were good but that's because they come pre-made. all you have to do is put them in a pan to puff them. read more

There for Friday lunch when in the middle of buffet toilet water from Travelodge room leaked down to the chutney and dessert trays. When alerted they quickly covered and eventually took the trays away. They were apologetic but what took stars down was that they still billed us the full buffet! I hinted but they did nothing. Bad crisis training and ultimately not customer oriented. Food: 2.5 stars Naan was soggy, rice was only slightly fragrant. Food on my first plate overall was just ok. I had better at naan-and-curry. Unless you are desperate for this food or stranded here, go elsewhere. read more

I have been coming to this location for years for a couple of very important reasons. The food quality is great and the place is clean and I get great customer service. And when you take that and added to the value of good prices it's a winner. I go in for the afternoon lunch buffet which is totally affordable I'll go in and I will get my naan bread, cracker bread, tendry chicken, curried beef or lamb, I will put it on saffron basmatti rice, I'll take some of their wonderful yogurt and jalapeno hot sauce and put it over my deep fried cauliflower, and I will finish it with sweet rice pudding. I love this place I will continue to go there forever. I've been eating there so long these guys almost start looking like family to me. read more

The isolated location facing the freeway made us initially skeptical about the place, but WOW, we were pleasantly surprised! The service was impressive...very warm and welcoming! And the food was delicious! My kids' first time eating at an Indian restaurant and they loved the food. Their favorite was the Shahi Khorma lamb cubes with sides of the garlic nan and the basmati rice. We definitely recommend this place! read more

My spouse and I came here because it was featured on Check Please, Bay Area. The food here is solid, traditional Indian cuisine. We decided to get a taste of everything and got the Raja / Rani Combination for Two. We were really hungry and we were not disappointed with our dinner. The only real negative is the setting, it's right next to a Travelodge, so this is definitely not a "destination restaurant" for someone traveling a long distance. If you're in the neighborhood and want some good Indian food, this is a worthy stop. Service was very polite and professional. read more

Buffet Review: YES. If you like Indian buffets I wouldn't pass this one up. Authentic food prepared very well with the proper ingredients and spices. A really good mint sauce. Indian Tea included. Lamb curry with bone. Great Tandoori. A very delicious spinach paneer. Attentive service. Cloth napkins. Real tablecloths which is kind of sad because even when I really really try not to spill anything on it, I do. Coming North from Willits this is now my favorite Indian lunch buffet on route to SF (it used to be Star India in Santa Rosa before they moved out of town). Not too creamy, not too oily. Absolutely my new favorite Indian cuisine. Although my experience was delivery, not dine in, the food was incredible. Everything we ordered was so flavorful and fresh. Their spice level is spot on (and you can customize to a level that you enjoy.) We were new to this restaurant when we placed our order, so we played it a bit safe. We had; Samosas, tandoori chicken which I highly recommend. Best I've ever had. We had Masala, absolutely perfect. We devoured their chicken vindaloo (spicy) and their naan is puffy perfect!! I wanted to try Achaar for the first time (it's a pickled vegetable chutney, condiment type thing) OMG.... sooo super spicy, salty, tangy, slightly sweet from mango, good Lord this was a flavor bomb!!! I recommend you slather it on naan or over rice. Very much looking forward to many more dinners/lunches here. read more

We ordered a takeout last night and were really disappointed. We have read a lot of great reviews so we decided to give this place a try. First of all, it took about 75-80 minutes and we thought maybe because it was the New Years so we were still hopeful that it might have been worth it. Well, the portion was extremely small. Chicken Tikka Masala came in a Quart size container and the saddest part was the taste and texture. The chicken was way overcooked and the sauce was kinda soupy. We ordered two types of nan and we got one tiny of each. Other Indian places in Marin were actually more generous with their nan. The last dish in our order was Prawns with Saffron rice. It wasn't so bad, but not worth $20 since it came in a small little container that should have been for appetizers. That was a total rip-off. Honestly, it wasn't worth the total $60. read more

Still one of my favorite Indian restaurants in Marin. Don't be deceived by the off-the-beaten-path location and dated Travel Lodge exterior. India Palace continues to be THE place to go for potent spice and all things nice! Menu highlights include: succulent tandoori chicken, samosas (both veggie and minced lamb options), creamy Tikka Masala, a variety of curry dishes that pack plenty of heat, and some of the best naan in town (you can actually watch them make it from your dining room table). My personal favorite is the garlic nan. Though I'm also a sucker for their Keema Nan (which is stuffed with spicy minced lamb meat). This is food that's meant to be shared. If you go with a group, I'd recommend ordering a bunch of things off the menu, a few sides of rice and veggies, and a few King Fisher beers for the table. The whole meal will run you no more than $30/person. And trust me, you'll be going home with a full belly and a giant doggy bag. Also, if you have the chance, try to dine here on Mondays. You will enjoy this especially if you have a wide travel experience--including to off beat places--and can enjoy food prepared to excellence while not being bothered by informalities like a (my ) mother would do, soup maybe slightly sloshed over the edges; call it style! If you can appreciate very fresh food, flavor complexity, served with enthusiasm and sincerity then this is a place for you. The hospitality is genuine, deep and rare. For example, I was going to a "pack your own lunch" conference; the waitress helped me package samosas and other food in my own lunch boxes, with condiments, for the following day. For my dinner, she carefully explained dishes I questioned, leading me to delicious choices including the spicy lamb vindaloo and the cooling cucumber salad. I am not so familiar with Indian food. Also, I had a top notch chardonnay to go with dinner. I found the side spice choices to be excellent, including the onion paprika sauce especially. A second dinner, the next day, of rack of lamb was accompanied by another sauce + I ordered garlic nan--two orders including one for lunch on the road. Amazing flavors--so good I couldn't read the novel I brought because I was alone. The taste experience was so profound that it kept me entirely in the moment of the cuisine. Plus I was shown that I could watch the lamb being cooked, through a window into the kitchen. The lamb was tender and flavorful. I also got the lentil soup--excellent with the option of added lemon especially. A do-not-miss culinary experience in my opinion. True also against the context of my dinning in Boston, Portland (OR), Seattle, Roche Harbor, Santa Barbara in the last 8 weeks. What a gem. read more

This little hidden gem inside of yes, a TRAVELODGE hotel, is a nice find in Mill Valley. It sits alongside a frontage road off 101 and the 'famous' Mill Valley Arco Station. At lunch, you can fill up on a buffet lunch for $10.95 (as of July 2018). There is naan, chai tea, rice and sufficent veggie/meat options, including a lamb curry we had Friday. Note: there are about 6 items...the selection isn't huge, but enough for 1-2 plates of food including kheer for dessert. The place is usually crowded with regulars and locals. The food isn't spicy, which is a good thing. This is a good place to stop. Food is usually fresh and we've NEVER had any incidents of getting ill or seeing a dirty dining area. read more

I ate at this restaurant in the mid 80s and forgot all about it. Today, I happened to be nearby at dinner time with my wife, and we went in for a quick bite. Nothing extravagant, just some dal, mutter paneer, and naan and tandoori roti. I was delighted to meet the staff--very warm and inviting. They got us a delicious hot cup of chai to start us off, and the meal was just delicious. A most satisfyingly authentic Indian meal, ten thousand miles from India. read more

I have had a great dinner takeout from this restaurant before, so I ordered again. And honestly, this time, it was difficult to eat. I ordered the vegetarian samosas - which were just a potato goo inside a pastry shell, very little flavor, and I love samosas! The vegetarian pakoras - bland, strange appetizer and not very great-looking, the batter looked almost like a pancake wrapped around unidentified vegetables. The dal entree was bland. The paneer entree was tasteless, too. The best part was the basmati rice! I'm so disappointed in this dinner. I don't know what happened to the food this time. Also, the paneer entree came in a plastic container that had accidentally opened before I received it, so there was some spilled food inside the bag and it soiled the other containers. I am not really holding this against the restaurant, it could have been the delivery driver or something else. But the quality of the food really leaves much to be desired. read more
