Tasted like it had been simmering all day long. Fall-off-the-bone tender. - Garlic Naan is both crispy on the edges and soft and so garlicky. Was perfect with the curries. - Samosas are huge and packed to the brim with a delicious mixture of potatoes and some other veggies. - Sweet and spicy cauliflower was an interesting fusion hybrid dish that tasted like Chinese orange chicken sauce on top of cauliflower tempura. The food is very good and the service is wonderful. It's nice they are open later on Sunday. We loved the Chana Chicken (I like garbanzo beans). The lamb palak was tender and not gamey tasting. I wanted to come on here before the food coma reached critical level and leave a review while my memory is fresh. The food is delicious. Everything arrived hot and packed with kindness and care. I had been struggling to find good spots since we moved here. This is definitley my new go to! Price: You get a lot for such a good price! Delivery: Had no problems ordering from doordash. Arrived hot and fresh. Food: (from the perspective of an American vegetarian taste palate, with mild tolerance to spice ) Samosas: The filling is so creamy! Not dry at all. Pefect balance of spices for me, not too spicy but spicy enough to add some interest. Also they are HUGE palm sized. Garlic Naan: Thin and chewy with lots of garlic flavor. Wishing I ordered two servings. (each order comes with 3, or mine did). Malai KOFTA : This is so good! particularly the creamy sauce. This was my favorite! The vegetable balls were not too soggy, when cutting into them they gave way easily and did not get gummy on my fork they were also not too strong to overpower the cream. I used this as a dip and on rice. Aloo Gobi: This does not really have a sauce, but it is packed with flavor and a good amount of heat for my tolerance level. It was good if I had not eaten the Kofta first I would have said this is the best. Both delicious though. Potatoes were cooked well and the cauliflower was tender. Do not order this if you want a saucy dish with rice as it will be too dry for that purpose. Vegetarian Biriyani: Fragrant, flavorful and fluffy. It has bit of roasted rice. It also packed more heat than the other dishes so i actually ended up eating a small portion with some plain basmati on the side. You get ALOT for your money. Well worth purchasing. Vegetable Pakora: These are normally the item I am really looking forward to because I love them so much. However these were a little on the dry and darkly fried side. So I probably would reccomend to skip these unless you can eat in and see that they are fresh. Alu Tikki: These are interesting I had never had them before, they are two patties fried with a nice flavor. I would probably not order these again because they are darkly fried and a bit dense in texture for my liking. Bhel Puri: So good! I had never had this before, it reminds me of a cold potato salad but more of a german style (no cream element) and with indian flavors. I will def order this again! It is refreshing. Gulab Jamun: Very very very very very, yes very sweet! Normally this is a no go for me, but the texture of them won me over, so even though it was so sweet I enjoyed it. This place was fantastic! I'm so glad I stumbled upon it. I was telling my girlfriend that manteca doesn't really have interesting places to eat. Mostly it's filled with fast food restaurants and burger joints, not much else to my knowledge. However, while browsing yelp I saw this and figured I would give this new-ish restaurant a try. My oh my. What great flavors, the better to taste. What great portion sizes, the better to fill you up with. What great prices, the better your wallet will feel after...did I use the red riding hood story to further my point? Yes, but anyone who reads this is the better for it. If I had any gripe with the experience it's that their wait time was long. Yet, I feel this also speaks to this restaurants greatness. They also didn't have one of the items I ordered. The food was fine but not special. The decor is strange. The shower curtains around the kitchen look very weird. The vegetarian thali was exceptional and it was really nice to be able to try multiple dishes. The portions were generous. Decided to check this place out after seeing an early morning movie since I was on the far side of town. I've been quite loyal to Tandoori Grill since it opened, but after a couple of lackluster visits I felt the desire to try this other spot increased and finally caved. Boy am I glad I did! We arrived around noon and were immediately greeted by a young man who was cleaning the outside of the storefront. Upon entering, the lunch buffet was presented nicely on the right hand side of the restaurant. There was ample seating and we were quickly placed in a comfortable booth. The ambience is nothing amazing, but the booth was comfy and they had some music going. Enough about that, though...how was the food? The food was incredible. They had a wok-like device going with some sort of chicken dish I've never had or seen before at any other Indian restaurant. It was amazing! I moved down the line and there were plenty of great offerings. Chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, channa masala, pakora curry, goat curry, mixed veggies and I'm probably forgetting a few as well. What I really liked about this buffet setup was they had a naan basket where you can take as much (or as little) as you'd like. I tried a little of each offering and each dish was amazing. The food tasted fresh and nothing felt like it had been overcooked from the buffet burners. There was a little spice in the dishes which was nice as we've been to a lot of places that'll turn down the spice to appease all diners. The food was great and on top of that the service was great too. There were multiple people in the restaurant keeping eyes on everyone to either take plates, bring more water, or just doing cleaning in general. The cleanliness of the restaurant was very impressive and you could see the staff were always looking for something to do to make the experience a good one for the people dining. I'm going out on a limb here and saying this is my new favorite spot at least for the lunch buffet. The lunch buffet here is the best one I've had in this area, so if I'm going for a lunch meal I'll definitely be coming back. In fact, I may just come back anyway just to see how the dinner menu and food prep compares to my old favorite in town. Congrats, Indian Cafe...you may have just won yourself another loyal customer! Perhaps locals are just happy to see an Indian restaurant offering a daily buffet to get their fill for $10. Less selection than most Indian buffets, food was quite unimpressive. The absolute worse dish is by far the vegetable pakora! Heavily breaded that looks like malformed hockey pucks. Worse pakora I've had anywhere. Service ok. Saag - Not flavorful Mini grilled shrimp with bell pepper and onions- ok Chicken tiki masala - ok, standard Mixed vegetable - ok and forgettable Vegetable pakora - Just bad, they need a new recipe Goat curry - standard, ok Tandoori chicken - ok The only good thing I can mention is that their chai was not sweet and included in the buffet. But they had this awful sweet rose milk drink. Overall the buffet is somewhere between needs improvement and average at 3 stars, but the vegetable pakora was sooooo bad I have to knock off a star here. 1 star- One of the worst! Will never return! Run! 2 stars- Below average. Very unlikely to return. 3 stars- Average. Will not make specific plans to return but may visit again if a friend wanted to go. 4 stars- I'm a fan. This is the most delicious restaurant that I've ever tried. I cannot stress enough that I recommend everyone check it out. They have a lunch buffet from 11 to 3:30 with the exception on Tuesdays (they're closed). Everything is super fresh and covered after use so nothing gets mixed in that shouldn't be there.
