I hate to say it, but this was honestly the worst Indian food experience I've had--and being Indian, that says a lot. Our appetizer, pav bhaji, didn't even come out until after the meal. When it finally arrived, the bhaji was bizarre--it was a dry ball, almost like a pakora, instead of the moist, buttery potato dish it's supposed to be. The dal makhani was also dry and clearly seemed like it had been cooked days earlier and just reheated. The butter chicken was disappointing too; the pieces had almost as much cartilage as actual meat. Service was mediocre. After taking our order, the menus just sat on our table until we asked for them to be removed because we needed the space for our food. A water jug was dropped on the table for self-service even though the restaurant was nearly empty on a Sunday afternoon and there were two servers working. On top of that, the restaurant itself was very warm, which made eating hot Indian food really uncomfortable. We honestly couldn't wait to leave and didn't even bother taking our leftovers. With so many other good options in town, I wouldn't come back. From top to bottom, this place needs serious improvement. read more

This place is super convenient if your pressed on time and need a quick appetizer bite before the movie starts at AMC Manteca next door. They have a full bar. First time visiting and to be honest I don't know they had a sit down Indian restaurant in this Bass Pro shop anchored shopping center. It's called a bistro. Not much Indian decor but their food makes up for that. I loved the fish salmon pakoras (fried fritters) and Gobi Manchurian. They have several tv sets above the bar also. Service is friendly and attentive. It's easy to miss this spot if you drive by but we walked around and ran into it basically. Across the small street is Curry Pizza house if you're craving Indian desi style pizza . This place has all the usual suspects of Indian dishes, very clean and next time I'm not late to a movie I will sit down and eat with no rush and enjoy it a little bit more. The food here was very good, compliments to the cook for preparing tasty dishes. However, the service could definitely be improved. When we arrived, the restaurant wasn't busy, but service was delayed as our server was at the bar on her phone. She didn't write down our order, which led to mistakes, and when we pointed them out, the response felt dismissive rather than helpful. One dish came out far too spicy for us to eat, and rice was only provided for one person instead of enough for the table. Throughout the meal, no one checked on us, and at the end there wasn't even a smile, a thank you, or a goodbye. I truly believe that with some additional customer service training, this server could really make a difference. Zaika's is one of the few sit down Indian restaurants in the Manteca-Lathrop-Tracy area (it actually might be the only one)! The restaurant is kept clean and the curries seem to be made fresh (we were one of the only 2 patrons there and it took 15 minutes to bring the food out). My only gripe is that there is loads of food color added to the biriyani -- looks unauthentic and unnatural. The rest of the curries and naans were great! read more

I am sorry to all my yelpers. I am traveling for work ran inside to grab some food and dash back to the hotel. I order had a drink and waited for my food. My waitress was Navjot she very polite and nice . She made feel welcome. She was able to discuss the menu and together we figured out a fire recommendation the Special Chicken Biryani's. Very delicious and light with the rice. Spice level was medium just barely breaking a sweat. The restaurant was clean and open. This is must try if you love Indian food. My husband and I came in last night and we're looking forward to trying this place. The place was cute and bright. It smelled so good too! We were a 2 top sat quickly right behind another 4 top. The only other table in there at the time. We ordered an appetizer and asked for a few more minutes to decide on entrees. After about 10-15 minutes the server dropped our appetizer at which point we were now ready to order and just walked away. She brought us plates and silverware, and didn't pay any mind to my husband trying to order. We were confused and a bit turned off at this point. The appetizer was fine. Very heavy on the tamarind, but that is just preferce, so no marks there. Timers/alarms were going off on the front and she just never came out. It was akward and loud. I would have assumed she was cooking the food had I not seen someone else in the back. Anyway another 15-20 minutes or so goes by after we finished our appetizer and we decided to just leave some cash on the table and go elsewhere for food. I hope this place works on it's service. I came to pick up my order and it was given to someone else (DoorDasher) by accident. They asked ME to deliver the person's food to their house and "trade the food" even though I'm not a food delivery driver. I refused and they still didn't offer to remake my food or rectify the situation with a refund. They then asked me to wait for the DoorDasher to come back to the store and give me my food I had ordered 45+ min ago. I left, this business is so cheap they aren't willing to fix a mistake they made. We have DoorDashed food from Zaika several times and it was good except today was horrible. The veggie pakoras we burnt outside and raw inside. The chicken briyani was dry, rice undercooked and chicken had a heavy flour coating and no chicken. The naan was under cooked, the dal makani and butter chicken were good. Overall, we were disappointed with the order after spending over $90. All previous orders have been great, eating at the restaurant was great. We will not be ordering for a while. Finally, Zaika has opened after a long wait. My first visit, and the place created a good impression. Ambience is nice, staff is courteous, service is fast. Papad and mint chutney were given complimentary. They tasted good. We ordered Paneer 65 Biryani, Chana Pindi, Lachha Paratha and Tandoori Roti. Even though we ordered for medium spicy level, food tasted spicier. But still not a problem as everything tasted good. Food came in fairly quickly after we put in the order. Quantity was generous. Ok so I will make this long! Forgive me. Tried this place for the first time 2 months ago. Been here four times sense. - first time we tried it it was epic. Good was fresh and so tasty. The bartender took care of us and he did such a great job. He sold us on the place and his drinks were awesome. - second time took my dad and it he never ate Indian food prior to this. My dad loved it and we tried new dishes and again it was fresh and great - third time took friends and agin their first time and again fresh and great. Again tried new dishes and we were not disappointed. - forth time was tonight and it was odd. We believe sense people don't understand how great the place is they went low economy. Lights and air were off. They turned the lights off and we came in and they turned on. They never turned the air on and it was nasty inside so uncomfortable. This time the Naan wasn't as fresh and it was dried out. My wife found a hair in her food. They remade it. We did pay for every thing because they are new and can't take the hit. Over all this place is the best Indian food I have had. I will say India food is gluten free normally and I suggest a GF menus to help newbies. Not exaggerating best food I've ever had in my life. Came from Turlock to visit a relative and we decided to go out and eat before we saw a movie, so glad we did. This place is the center of joy and whimsy, I was so excited to try the chicken curry and it did not disappoint. The service was also very good, out server was a little slow to come to our table since we were the only people here, but a lot of the food probably takes a while to make so I'm not complaining. He was sincere & attentive to our every wish. The Butter Chicken was tender & subtle. It was more perfumed than spiced! We have been trying this place few times since they opened in Manteca. It always used to be our go-to place and we did had issue last time and thought it's a one time fluke but today was one of the worst experience ever. 1. Today being one of the hottest days (110 degrees) in Manteca this place decided to torture customers with NO AC and wouldn't even have decency to let people know upfront on their AC being down. We noticed this after ordering our food and had to make it TOGO as the heat was miserable for dine-in. We noticed they offered another party a portable fan and one of the party person had to literally hold the fan to cool his family down. 2. We always order our regular, butter chicken for kids (my 6 YO's favorite) and lamb curry for us. My 6 year old instantly complained the sauce tastes like ketchup and it sure did.
