We stopped here on the way to Tahoe. The ambiance is no BS. This is a typical California Dhaba. Service was quick. We ordered mango lassi, garlic naan, dal and kadai paneer. All were pretty good. A little bit on the greasy side but overall very tasty. The kids enjoyed the food. The masalas in the food weren't too strong but just good enough to enjoy. Good value for money overall. While the line was long when we got in, the server was quick to identify that were there for Dine -In and seated us with menus. The line was for take out, which seems to be very popular. The service was attentive and friendly throughout our visit. The food was fantastic. I normally have a favorite, but all were equally good. We got 3 curries (lamb madras, saag paneer and chicken tikka masala) and some rice (which is well seasoned on its own) and bread (Onion Kulcha and plain Naan). My recent visit involved a take out order, so I can't speak to the table service, but when I went to pick up my order, the staff were very friendly and the restaurant had added permanent outdoor seating and some premade desserts for sale in a display case. I decided to give them a try again since the owner asked I give them another try. The service and stinginess has gotten a lot worse. They don't include rice anymore with any entree and charge almost $7 for a small amount to add on. The naans were dry and food tasted old. I would not recommend. read more

This place was amazing! I had a big group, about 15-20 of us, all traveling together Saturday afternoon, and we wanted some cozy Indian food that would hit the spot. I found this place on Yelp and we all headed here. Around 1pm, I arrived first and gave them a warning that there are about 15 more people on the way, and asked if they could accommodate us. They easily agreed and started combining tables together for us. As the rest of my group trickled in, 1 employee was handing out glasses of water while the other was passing out menus and taking orders. I appreciated how, despite the chaos of the amount of us, everything was dealt with quite easily. The food started rolling in about 10 minutes later, and it was clear this is exactly what we were looking for. We ordered naan, tandoori roti, veg and non-veg entrées. It was all very satisfying and quite tasty. I am grateful for how quick this restaurant managed to take us in and work around our huge party in such short notice. I think it was a lunch special or something like that going on at the time. Our plate came with an entrée, side of rice, a salad, a small rice pudding, like dessert, and of course, some naan. I ordered the butter chicken and I think my friend got goat curry. in any case, we both really enjoyed the food, but unlike most Indian food that we eat, this place did not feel so heavy. We had just completed shopping @ Tracy Costco and were looking for some to-go Indian food. We found Dhaba just by chance and walked in to get some to-go for later that evening. The owner brought to our notice tat this was the first Indian restaurant in that area and had started over 16 years ago. Came here on a Saturday night fairly busy inside. place is a decent size restaurant with the option to sit outside with a heater. Restaurant is clean & staff are attentive. We ordered the butter chicken, chicken biriyani, tandoori prawns, Kodai chicken and garlic and cheese naan. Everything came out amazing all were bursting with aroma of flavors! The tandoori prawns were Amazing! Order them! The Biriyani was tender and full of spice! Butter chicken & kodai chicken were both very good neither too spicy or hot. I'd recommend both! We tried to order takeout via phone so that things would hopefully be ready by the time we got there, but was sent straight to voicemail twice :( But alas, we were determined to try their food, so we drove over and ordered at the restaurant. We were given a 20 minute estimate wait and our order was just about ready within those 20 minutes. We tried the butter chicken, basmati rice, and garlic naan. + Butter Chicken (3/5): This was piping hot by the time we got home to eat it! It didn't quite have the richness I was looking for. We ordered this at a medium spice level but it felt closer to mild. + Garlic Naan (2/5): I was looking forward to this the most as a garlic aficionado, but the naan looked nothing like the photos. The garlic was just in small, random lumps around the naan vs. evenly spread throughout. I was also looking for more cilantro on the naan itself but this was also very minimal. Dhaba is not only one of the best Indian restaurants in Tracy, it's one of the best places to eat in this town overall. My family and I have eaten here since they opened and the high quality of food has been consistent. I saw some new items on the menu when I ordered for delivery. They now have a samosa chaat, one of my favorite dishes. It had two samosas surrounded by chana masala and other sauces. It was delicious! I didn't think it was spicy, though it did build slowly towards the end. My mom thought it was spicy. Because I got it delivered, the samosas weren't as crunchy, but it was still good. Service has always been great and the owners are very nice people. My one piece of advice is that if you're ordering online is to pick it up. Almost every time I order for delivery, there's an item missing. At least when you pick up, you can check your order before driving off. read more

The women behind the counter are also very friendly while the man behind the counter is extremely rude. I always do take out so cannot speak to the dining experience. We stopped by for dinner on a Friday evening. We ordered the chicken tikka masala, the vegetable Manchurian, samosas, Dal Tadka, garlic, and plain naan. The cashier was also the waitress, and she was busy with a lot of takeout orders. Even though she was busy with the togo orders, service was very good. The food came out relatively quickly, and the flavors were really quite good. The chicken tikka masala had a very good flavor, although it was not spicy. The dal tadka was also good, but not spicy. The naan bread was super fresh and delicious. The vegetable Manchurian was a bit different from what I'm used to, in that the dish came out as veggie meatballs instead of actual pieces of cauliflower. I was a bit skeptical at first, but it was super flavorful and very good. The samosas were also excellent, and came with a nice green sauce that was very fresh tasting. We ordered everything medium spicy, and next time, we'll probably order everything hot instead since I wished there was a bit more heat to all of the dishes that we tried. Overall, it was a very good experience, and if you're looking for excellent Indian food in the Tracy area, this is a must stop. read more

We had 11 people in our party and the service was great. The food was very good. We had a mix of spicy eaters and no-spice eaters. We ordered Saag, butter chicken, chicken mushroom Korma, fish pakora, fish Masala, naan and rice. Also, two people had wraps. Everything was delicious. Chicken is always tender and fish was perfect (not mushy or slimy). They have indoor and outdoor seating. We sat inside. It's not huge inside but they were able to accommodate us and still have quite a number of other tables available.
