We learned about Indian Crossing Casino about a year ago and knew they offered a smash burger. Recently we decided to stop by and check it out. The location does not house a gambling casino. Casino used to refer to a building for dancing, meetings, and entertainment, hence the name. We parked in the lot and headed toward the wooden building with the curved roof. The casino building and some of the nearby buildings reminded me of buildings at Indiana Beach, and I realized these had some history to them as well. They date back to the 1920s, and it's great to see them still in use. Inside, we found a lot of seating, a curtained stage for live music, a bar, and garage doors open to the Chain O'Lakes. The spring-fed lake nearby has beautiful blue green water and was busy with boat traffic on a warm sunny Saturday. We found some seats and the bar and ordered some beers. I noticed they also had cocktails and wine, and some nice glassware to compliment the beverages. We both ordered the Wanna Smash Burger: two patties with American cheese, thick peppery bacon, lettuce, red onion, and their ICC sauce served with kettle potato chips ($18). I didn't really want bacon on my burger, but it turned out that this was some really fine thick bacon, hanging well outside of the boundaries of the bun, and it was delicious. The burger was good as well, the ICC sauce had a bit of sweetness to it, and all of the flavors worked well together. The access to the lake on a beautiful day makes this a great option for food and/or drinks. And they host live music, yoga, and other events well. read more

The setting by the lake was definitely relaxing--we enjoyed sitting outside and watching the boats pass by. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the view. The onion rings lacked flavor, and the wings weren't crispy at all. We tried two different wing flavors, but they were so bland that I honestly can't even remember which ones we ordered. The sauces didn't add much either. On top of that, the sweet potato fries were disappointing--some weren't even fully cooked and were still cold in the middle. Service was friendly and prompt. Our appetizer of chips with salsa and guac really hit the spot!! For entrees we went with the lemon pepper chicken, birria tacos and a hot honey pepperoni & jalapeño pizza. Didn't try my mom's chicken entree, but her asparagus was so tough she could barely cut it with a knife and after taking a bite she didn't eat any more. My husband wished the crust on his pizza was thicker/puffier; I had a slice and thought the spice factor was just right but you could taste the crust was burnt, and also see it when you flipped the slice over and saw it was black. The place has recently gone through a total renovation. It looks great and the menu is perfect. I highly recommend the Boat ride burger. It has an over easy egg on it, and it is grilled to perfection. The bloody mary's are excellent as well. The bartender Jim was professional, kind and funny. The new owners definitely hired the right General Manager, Andrew, to guide the place to success. He came by to say hi and let us know what direction they are headed for the future. This was our second time here and we've had wonderful experiences both times. It's fun to watch all the boats and there's beautiful lake views on the outdoor patio. Drinks and food are exceptional and I love the wide variety of menu items. We LOVE the brussel sprouts and as a bread baker myself, the crust on the flatbread is very soft and flavorful. First time here and so disappointed. The service was next to nonexistent. Had to keep going to the bartender (who was great) to order. For reference, we'd been seated over an hour before the game started, so no real crowds. Ran out of cheese curds (in WI on a game day?) And wings (same). They handed out game day flyers w drink specials for beer buckets and denied the order bc 'that was the wrong game day flyers'. Food was fine. The food tasted amazing and the portions were generous! I had the Flat Bread chicken bacon ranch with a sweet BBQ sauce and cauliflower crust while my husband had the Bourbon bacon burger with fries. We enjoyed one of their specialty drinks, the fire cinnamon apple as well. Our server was very attentive and friendly and It felt good to visit and eat at one of our summer favs in the fall/winter. Seating consisted of larger pub tables and the lower tables on the chanel (that's where we were). We noticed our table on the channel (door to the outside was closed) was comfortably warm. They had corn hole being played, and comfy seats (couch and recliners) set up in front of the biggest tv of the six located in the restaurant and bar with college football tuned in. Had a bad experience about a month ago but decided to give this place a second chance. I didn't think my first experience could be topped but I was wrong. This place needs to invest in a real management staff that actually knows the industry but more importantly understands how important customer service really is. I was really hoping Waupaca would get another viable option for dinner/cocktails. I was with a group of 5 other people and waited 10 minutes before deciding to place our own orders at the bar. To make matters worse, the bartenders acted like we were an inconvenience. No one ever came around to see if we wanted to order food or another round, which we did. This is not a situation where they were overwhelmed with people. Hey had staff standing together talking amongst themselves doing nothing. To top it all off, after waiting for roughly 20 minutes I found the manager and asked if anyone on the staff was interested in making money and explained our situation. Rather than actually caring and saying "I'm sorry what can I get you" she proceeded to say "let me see if someone is available to help you". We waited another 10 minutes and left. A group next to us did the exact same thing. Harbor Bar's staff was definitely happy to get our nearly $300 bill. ICC won't get another opportunity. To the ownership........the group of 8 people that left with us also went to the Harbor and I'm sure their bill was larger than ours. Awesome historical ballroom/casino! They had bean bags indoors and the kiddos loved playing on the stage (no band was present). Waitstaff was super friendly and helpful. Picnic style seating on picnic tables (at least where we ended up). Food was fantastic and the littles loved eating there! So glad to see the Casino back open. The publc space is great! Have had dinner there with friends twice in the past two weeks. The food was average at best - Hamburgers and Poke Bowls. The cost of the wines and the pours you get are very high for the price (even with Happy Hour). Happy to pay more for a great dining experience but this just isn't up to par for the cost. read more

Let me preface this review by stating that this review is for ICC's brunch during this past weekend's grand opening. We stopped in on Saturday for bloody marys and on Sunday to eat brunch. I will update it once the new staff and menu at the ICC gets their bearings but I walked away frustrated that I could have eaten brunch over an hour earlier for half the price at home. I think it is ingenious that the ICC has started weekend brunch. We love going to brunch. There is clearly an interest in the area since the tables and bar seats were occupied the entire 90 minutes we were there Sunday. There is probably also a need especially with the recent closing of long standing King's Table. The atmosphere and the view of the water was welcomed on a sunny Saturday and Sunday where only two weeks earlier the area saw a dump of two feet of snow. The loaded bloody mary was reasonably priced at $6 with garlic vodka, a pickle spear, a shrimp and an olive. But, I missed the beer chaser that has become standard at so many other establishments. The staff was enthusiastic and personable. I am certain that once they get some experience under their belts, they will be stellar. It was nice that kids were able to run around in the dance floor area and two bags' games were available for entertainment. The menu had several options to choose from categorized by 'classic', 'savory' and 'spicy' and it was to choose since so many things looked enjoyable. However, it took way too long to get our food (it came out 75 minutes after we ordered) and when the order did come, two things were wrong: A friend got an ICC burrito with chicken instead of an ICC burrito with chorizo (which was swiftly corrected) and I was served the steak burrito but ordered and was charged for the carne asada omelet. I ate it because I was too hungry to have to wait to have them fix the mistake. I did inform the server because I was certain some other dinner would end up with my meal, creating a domino effect of mistakes. It is possible the food runner simply doesn't know the food yet! Another friend enjoyed her chicken and waffles. She took home half of it since it was so big. My wife had the Spanish Omelet and after a few bites she said it was just too salty due to the chorizo so she tried to eat around it. The server comped our drinks halfway into Sunday brunch for what she called "all of the chaos" so that was appreciated! Here are some opportunities for improvement: -The addition of 2-3 items 'lunch' items on the brunch menu for the folks who stumble upon the place at the noon hour looking for lunch. Maybe a breakfast burger and a salad. -Develop a wait list. When the tourist season starts, this place has the potential to be swamped. -Set up one of the bars with complimentary coffee and water while people are waiting. Or when the wait is longer and the crowd is larger, have a bar area open for bloody marys and cocktails folks can purchase and enjoy while they play bags and take in the atmosphere. -The servers spent too much time making trips to tables for trivial things like water, napkins, and utensils. Find a fun way to caddy these items so they are always on the table and save the servers some trips so they can check on food and take drink orders. Do the same thing with water carafes and cups (I saw this start to happen later on during our dining time). We will be back to give it another go and wish them the best of luck as they grow! read more

We stopped by before going on the Dings Dock canoe trip. We needed cash and the father of the owner helped us out. We found out the restaurant was being fixed up and that their food had been recently improved. After our trip we decided to sit out on the porch of this venue /restaurant and try the food and enjoy the glorious day and watch the pontoon migrations between lakes. The food is good. We all had something different. It was a Friday so the special fish menu was our first stop. Ahi Tuna tacos. Fish tacos. And breaded cod. Everything was great. We enjoyed New Glaruis Spotted Cow drafts and talked about the trials of our canoe trip. It was a blast. The service was great and friendly. My son had a kids bacon cheeseburger that was enormous, perfectly cooked, and the adults enjoyed cleaning up what he couldn't eat because it was delicious. I grew up in Waupaca, and boating on the Chain. The Casino was a frequent family stop. The food here is great. The menu is small, but always they do, they do so well. It is easy to see that the menu items are local favorites redesigned with creativity and skill. The atmosphere is what it it has always been, very nostalgic. The recent updates are just what this place needed, and close to finding its original identity. The Chain has some local favs, but the "New" ICC is for sure worth putting at the top of the list of boat-ups. read more

I was excited to try brunch and go to ICC for the first time. The brunch menu appears to be gourmet with things like "truffle cream" but it was worse than a truck stop diner. The food was extremely greasy and oily and the quality of the food was poor. When I say greasy I mean the plates and food had POOLS of grease and oil. I ordered a Tuscan egg white omelette which was so fried in oil I questioned whether it was egg whites and there were hardly any vegetables. The place was staffed by children and teenagers who clearly didn't understand hospitality or how to wait on tables and they mostly seemed to run around in a confused panic. The location is about the only thing worthwhile. I won't be back and don't recommend eating here. Worst meal I've had in years. I couldn't even remember the last time I had food so bad. read more

This place would be amazing but needs some major updates. I get that it's a historic building, ... but, the bathrooms are a mess. The women's bathroom has a toilet without a cover, plywood walls. And don't even get me started on the men's bathroom. You can smell it from the middle of the floor. My husband says he holds his breath going in cause the urine smell is so bad. Rips in the cloth above the stage, the list goes on. This place would be AMAZING if they invested in the bathrooms, a good cleaning to the outside, and got some fly traps. Flies... everywhere.
