Simpson's ; The prettiest place in town, nice and cozy. Beautiful fireplace and real food, made perfect. Simpson's , all you need is more customers. Once the word is out, everybody driving on that big highway to the west 110, and probably 49, are definitely gonna wanna trya' Simpson's meal, and there is a real good bar too with barstools. Plus there is a deck up top, and a place outside too. Uh good lookin people too.

A little cold today and it wasn't quite the summer season yet, so everything was indoors…read more But this looks like a great place for summer drinks and activity. Located in the center of the Chain O' Lakes area, I'm sure this is a hot spot in summer. An amazing menu for this sports bar. They had a little (or a lot) of everything. I had the salmon with a bowl of one of their many soups. I wouldn't expect a bar to make great salmon, but they did not disappoint. I'd come back just to have it again. As far as the soups, I think they offered at least four. I ordered the Loaded Veggie (or something like that!). It was very good. Friendly staff, everything prepared well. Lots of interesting locals to talk to at the bar.

Well, another reason why I love Waupaca. Chain O' Lakes Bar…read more& Grill is exactly what you hope to find when you pull up to a resort‑area bar and grill-- it seems welcoming and friendly, and I bet this place packed in the summer. Even in the off‑season, it has that "weekend" energy, in a good way. If I lived here, this would be a primary hangout for a beer or two. They've got a solid tap list, nothing special but definitely better than your standard domestic‑only lineup. We ended up splitting a Cuban sandwich, which came with homemade potato chips which were quite good. But the real surprise was the jambalaya. Saw this after the fact but lots of Yelpers have been making note of this soup. Tons of flavor, great spice level, and it feels like something you'd never expect from a typical Northwoods bar menu. And yes, you can even take home a quart of the soup. Next time I am in Waupaca, I am bringing some home. The menu in general is what you'd expect from a place like this--burgers, wraps, sandwiches--but with more variety and more "made‑with-care" options than the usual lakeside joint. There's plenty of parking, and for warm weather months they've even got volleyball courts, which adds to that relaxed resort atmosphere. Overall: a great stop if you're in the area, and absolutely worth revisiting for that jambalaya alone.

The onion rings lacked flavor, and the wings weren't crispy at all. We tried two different wing flavors, but they were so bland that I honestly can't even remember which ones we ordered. The sauces didn't add much either. On top of that, the sweet potato fries were disappointing--some weren't even fully cooked and were still cold in the middle. This would be a nice spot to stop for some drinks or refreshments while enjoying the lake, but for food, I'd look elsewhere.

Didn't try my mom's chicken entree, but her asparagus was so tough she could barely cut it with a knife and after taking a bite she didn't eat any more. My husband wished the crust on his pizza was thicker/puffier; I had a slice and thought the spice factor was just right but you could taste the crust was burnt, and also see it when you flipped the slice over and saw it was black. The burria tacos were phenomenal, but it would be nice if you could order an extra one or two as they are super thin and don't come with a side so they aren't gong to appease your hunger on their own.

They don't bring chips and salsa unless your dish comes with them. Thankfully, my dish did. Chips are served warm. They only needed a little salt. Not homemade but good. The salsa was very finely prepared with NO chunks. It has a little spice on the backend. Hubby ordered a quesadilla (large) and fries. Only the large quesadilla comes with a potato side. He chose fajita beef. I ordered the three tostadas meal with rice and beans. I chose one of each: steak, chicken, and ground beef. Our food came very fast! Hubby's quesadilla was quite cheesy as you can tell by the picture of the cheese pull. Very basic flavor though, nothing special about the steak. Fries were a frozen "meatier" French fry. My tostadas were crispy and fresh with cool veggies on top of the meat and beans. Nice big slices of avocado under the Parmesan cheese. The ground beef was my favorite of the three flavors. Rice and beans were run of the mill. Our server was very kind and attentive. We told her that it was our first time and she offered suggestions and gave us plenty of time to peruse the menu. For an early Friday evening (Black Friday), there were a handful of tables of patrons. It seemed clean and nicely decorated. Not sure that we'd return for their Mexican food but they serve other ethnicities of food and also serve breakfast all day.
