Food was less than desirable for an expensive dinner. We spent 80.00 for dinner for 3. Wings were on special. All they were was deep fried skin, ribs were gristly service was not good. I was in town for my mothers services and we stayed at the comfort inn. Was nice that the bistro was just across the parking lot! Honestly didn't know what to expect but the staff was great. They handled us adding people to our table throughout the first night and the fish fry was delicious! We then had everyone there for lunch after her services on Saturday and the staff was very accommodating. There was a little confusion with one of the tabs but when we came back in that night we were able to sort it all out. We of course had the prime rib and it was cooked perfectly. I ordered the blackened Shrimp. Unfortunately it was extremely over seasoned with "Blackening Season". Literally black shrimp. I'm from the Gulf Coast and love spicy seasoned food however I don't think the cook understands that the word BLACK describes the flavor not the color. lol. read more

You basically have to beg for service to your table. Taco salad has no meat unless you want to pay $5 more for the meat add on. Not even beans! If you add meat the price comes to $18! Par 4 Resort allowed us to use their convention center for a charitable event. Wow!!! Everything was amazing. The space is stunning. The lady (Kesha) that manages the place made sure everything was perfect, and she also made some really helpful suggestions to me. They served shareable charcuterie plates, which were so fun and upscale! The staff was friendly, professional, and efficient. I really can't say enough good things about this venue. Participating in a group, some of us broke off for a few drinks in the bar. Nice place with a nice golf course view. The next night, we had a dinner meeting in one of the banquet rooms. Our timeline got pushed up so I don't think the staff/cooks was prepared to receive us. We were served a salad plate but no dressing. We were told they didn't have any and were going out for more...huh! So we all had no choice but to wait. Our food was serve yourself, buffet style. The blackened shrimp was way over seasoned to the point of being over salty, and the added fennel seed just made it gross. Beet fries were surprisingly good, as I do not like beets usually (the girlfriend loves them). The twice baked potato had no flavor except the top layer of cheese. It was as if the potato was not mixed with sour cream, chives, or anything yummy. The pimento bites had potential flavor, but again ruined by being too salty. Garlic toast added unneeded saltiness to an already salty meal. The chili cheese fries were good, and the grilled cheese was huge and looked good. I just had an absolutely horrible encounter with a bartender by the name of Tristan. I am a local and am here for a wedding and was greeted with horrible service and an even worse attitude. I've never been treated with such disrespect at an establishment, let alone on a Saturday afternoon during a wedding reception. This bartender Tristan, persisted to scowl at me after calling him the wrong name, and threatened to "cut me off" and "kick me out" after throwing another bartenders lighter on the ground infront of a full bar of people. He claimed he was the owners son, and he had full control of the establishment. This place seems to have really gone downhill. I only visit once or twice a year when in town for work, and have had positive experiences previously but the food tonight was a huge disappointment. The prime rib that I requested medium was completely gray throughout with a reheated texture, the Mac and cheese was cold with unmelted shredded cheese, I was told there was no oil at all for my salad, and my wine glass was sticky with fingerprints on it. More of bar grub than a bistro and that was kind of a let down as it is part of a golf club. The staff is great and a friendly atmosphere which is great when you are from out of town. An issue for me was going to have a night cap when the club was having a wedding reception. The reception spilled over to the lounge and the patrons were loud, obnoxious, dropping loud f-bombs constantly, and children younger than 12 all over the place. No one tried to quiet them down which is sad as there those of us there for a simple night cap. read more

Called the golf course at the Par 4 resort. Asked if they had any tee times, they told us us yes and we booked a time. asked them on the phone if they accept the Players Pass and the lady in the pro shop said "yes, see you at 1:08.". When when got there (drove 45 minutes from Appleton) the lady we had originally talked to said, " we don't accept the Players Pass, we told her they are on the Players Pass site and she said, "we don't accept the Players Pass and we don't accept the the coupon from the Entertainment Book which they are also in". She said don't bring us those coupons anymore because we don't accept any of them. Wow, bad customer service and extremely bad representation. The lady in the pro shop was rude and condescending. If the course agrees to these deals they need to accept them. Never going there again! read more

Sierra was such an amazing waitress. She was very attentive and had a great personality. It was a Friday night super busy and we still got everything in a timely manner. I definitely recommend Par 4, great atmosphere, great food and drinks. We will definitely be back. We later came in to play darts at the bar and Clint was the bartender and was great. It was a pretty busy night yet we never had to wait for a drink. It was my first time up here, from the Madison area. I can't say enough about how they treat their customers, outstanding. Stopped by for a driving break and of course had to have lunch, the staff were very welcoming, an excellent bar menu and we were not disappointed with the quality and taste of the food. The Ale House certainly is a place you want to avoid if you are planning any kind of event. My son and his wife- to- be started planning to have their wedding ceremony and reception there in Feb 2017 for a Sept 2018 wedding. To make a long story short, the Ale House presented one set of prices and a contract in 2017 and then chose not to honor the signed agreement SIX MONTHS BEFORE THE WEDDING DATE. When we went to meet with them, the manager was obviously NOT EMPOWERED to work with the client, as she repeatedly had to call the owner. (Why have a manager?) The second time we tried to meet, they refused to talk. (Not a professional or adult practice in my book) Here are some words I would use to describe the Ale House venue management: Dishonest, liars, money mongers, not customer focused, poor reps of the Waupaca business community and kind of dense. If you want to feel frustration and anger in planning your wedding, use the Ale House venue. If you want a nicer experience GO ANYWHERE ELSE. That said, the bright spot is the bartender, Shawn. A nice guy. My advice...steer clear of the Waupaca Ale House if you are getting married. read more

Delicious food. We ordered and split the philly cheese steak with fries. It reminded me of Sonnys Famous Cheesesteak in Philadelphia, Pa. The Ale House is next door to the Foxfire golf course and hotel and convention center. Well worth stopping in for a causal atmosphere with a few TVs and a delicious meal in the Waupaca area. They offer brunch for Easter sunday and mother's day. read more

Different. The wings were different--they really stood out from all others. Not in a good or bad way, they were different. It took the judges a moment to find out wht was different but we ended up figuring it out after the fourth or fifth wing. Par 4 marinates their wings in buffalo sauce and then fries them after. Like I said, not good or bad, just different. The buffalo sauce was amazing with a great flavor and a hint of sweet. Bought 5 meals (Mike high meatloaf - too dry (gravy purposely on the side so meatloaf taste could be judged on its own), Philly cheese steak (no bun so it could be eaten GF) over cooked, lobster dinner good but average size portion (cost $30), surf and turf (ribeye and shrimp) this meal was good and well enjoyed, last meal was combo of 2 appetizers - these were eaten my teenager - he liked the wings & buffalo wraps. All the veggies served with meal had a nice buttery taste. The only 5/5 stars was our waitress CARSON. She handled a table of 10 and we had absolutely no issues. She even made sure our nieces and nephews food came out first. Hats off to her! She should get a big raise. We had 2 other tables of 10 there (different servers) everyone ate their food but no one really bragging about what they ate. I tried 2 morsels of the maple salmon (2 different plates) both were fishy tasting - again disappointed. The recent renovations are very nice, but that's really where the good news ends. The food was spotty. The soup was great, the main meal (fish) was so tough that it felt like it had been cooked thoroughly and then left under a warming lamp for an extended period. What was most disturbing, however, was that for a restaurant with open tables I felt unbelievably rushed. Two minutes after my order was taken, as I was settling back with my beer to unwind a bit, My soup and main dish are served simultaneously. I have questions as to how turnaround that quick is even possible, and I have my suspicions, but at the very least it's horrible hospitality. Then, halfway through the meal with the fork in my hand, the server comes up and asks "can I get a box for you?" I looked around to see if I, a single diner, was taking up much needed table space...nope, three open tables around me. I politely declined, and finished my dinner. Hoping for a second beer I tried to catch my server in passing, and was able to...as she dropped my tab on the table and said, "I'll take that when you're ready." Much as I wanted another beer I decided against spending anymore money here. I'm a pretty forgiving diner, but I've never felt so rushed in my life. My suggestion...TW Martin's. Had dinner here last night. Very, very pleased !!! My husband and I had the broasted chicken dinner which was awesome !!! It included 4 pcs chicken, mashed potatoes w/gravy, broccoli with cheese and a corn muffin. The food was delicious and plentiful for around 9.00 !!! An exceptional value . We went to Par 4 Bistro on Friday evening. We were asked by the hostess where we wanted to sit so we told her the bar area would be fine. We sat there for 15 minutes, and no waitress appeared. Then a family came in, and they sat them right next to us. Their waitress came over and took their beverage orders so my boyfriend went to talk to the hostess. She stated our waitress would be over soon. We sat another 5 minutes, and then we decided to leave. When we put our coats on, our waitress finally came over. It was sad to be at a restaurant that wasn't busy, and we weren't attended to in any manner. The hostess saw that we were looking around for service but just kept talking to another waitress. She could have brought us water and/or taken our drink order if the waitress was busy. We went to another restaurant which was very busy. We had our drinks, and they took our food orders within fifteen minutes of arriving there. I wouldn't recommend Par 4 Bistro restaurant to anyone. read more

Par 4 is by far our favorite restaurant in Waupaca. The food is always excellent, the drinks are great, and the atmosphere is classy and cozy. The staff is friendly and always helpful. Our son had his wedding reception in the banquet hall and everything was perfect. We couldn't have hoped for a better experience. In warm months the outside patio is a great place to relax with a drink. We highly recommend Par 4 for dining, enjoying a cocktail and gathering for a banquet. read more

Went for Friday night fish fry, but wasn't impressed, had haddock which can be found anywhere. Service was off, drinks took forever and one meal didn't come until the others were nearly half finished with theirs and it was missing the coleslaw and rye bread. Karokee started before 8p while there were alot of families still eating. Shouldn't that wait for the bar crowd? Then the last straw - the bill came with charges for each of the kids drinks although the menu said the drinks were included with the kids meal. read more

Visited for their lobster fest dinner. Ok not bad for WI, not Boston but for 20 decent. Some suggestions however. These critters do not take that long to cook.. actually about the same time as a fryer full of fish. So try cooking them a few at a time when ordered not cook a whole batch, pop em in a hotel pan and in the oven to keep warm.. they do dry out and yes you can tell. Veggies .. keep em steam table overdone. Salads looked a bit "tired" appear to have been made at 0900am kept uncovered in the fridge until served at 7PM. LIKE big time the small lobster tool you provided keep this up. Interesting use of coffee cream containers for melted butter. read more

Great Food Nice and Clean. Went there for a conference and I had the steak - Wonderful. A colleague of mine had their 3 cheese Mac - She said it was wonderful and it looked amazing. I have attended social functions here, as well as ordered regular meals off the menu. There is something on the menu for everyone - soups, salads, burgers to name a few items. Five of us went to dine on a Saturday night. Atmosphere is great, drinks good and service was pretty good, but the food was not hot. I think the kitchen needs to connect with the prep staff. Three people ordered prime rib and all said it was warm at best. The garlic mashed potatoes were not hot either. I ordered boneless wings and they were warm. I also had the appetizer of scallops, and that wasn't hot either. It was like it was sitting in the kitchen for 10 minutes before they brought it out. And the first time I had the scallops they were really nice and big, but this time they were small. This is the worst place to dine. Beef tips are made with a roast of some sort and not steak yet they charge you steak price. Also the burgers on burger night are school cafeteria burgers and they are gross. I ate there once before and didnt like it over a year ago so I thought I would give it a second chance and guess what, it still isnt good. In fact i think it has gotten worse.
