Located in the center of the Chain O' Lakes area, I'm sure this is a hot spot in summer. An amazing menu for this sports bar. They had a little (or a lot) of everything. I had the salmon with a bowl of one of their many soups. I wouldn't expect a bar to make great salmon, but they did not disappoint. I'd come back just to have it again. As far as the soups, I think they offered at least four. I ordered the Loaded Veggie (or something like that!). It was very good. Friendly staff, everything prepared well. We visited for a second time last night to enjoy some yummy fish. The perch here are HUGE. I had the Bay Blast cocktail before our meals came and it was a very refreshing choice to enjoy on the outdoor patio. This place is a good choice for families as there is a lot of seating, indoor and out, and the food comes in a reasonable amount of time. This ended up being our favorite pizza of our recent family vacation. We're definitely a pizza family and love a good crunchy thin crust--this place nailed it. The toppings were generous and full of flavor, and the breaded mushrooms really hit the spot. My sister went with the Hawaiian pizza and loved it, while we also shared some wings that were incredibly crunchy. The house-made sauces were another highlight--so much so that I even asked to take some buffalo sauce home with me. Between the great food and memorable flavors, if I had to pick one pizza spot in Waupaca, this would be the one. read more

Well, another reason why I love Waupaca. Chain O' Lakes Bar & Grill is exactly what you hope to find when you pull up to a resort‑area bar and grill-- it seems welcoming and friendly, and I bet this place packed in the summer. Even in the off‑season, it has that "weekend" energy, in a good way. If I lived here, this would be a primary hangout for a beer or two. They've got a solid tap list, nothing special but definitely better than your standard domestic‑only lineup. We ended up splitting a Cuban sandwich, which came with homemade potato chips which were quite good. But the real surprise was the jambalaya. Saw this after the fact but lots of Yelpers have been making note of this soup. Tons of flavor, great spice level, and it feels like something you'd never expect from a typical Northwoods bar menu. And yes, you can even take home a quart of the soup. Next time I am in Waupaca, I am bringing some home. The menu in general is what you'd expect from a place like this--burgers, wraps, sandwiches--but with more variety and more "made‑with-care" options than the usual lakeside joint. There's plenty of parking, and for warm weather months they've even got volleyball courts, which adds to that relaxed resort atmosphere. Overall: a great stop if you're in the area, and absolutely worth revisiting for that jambalaya alone. read more

Basic Wisconsin sports bar with lots of daily soup choices and plenty of beer on the beer list. I had Chicken Veggie soup and my dining companion had tuna steak with a side of fruit. Just paid SIX dollars for a tiny plate of fries! I've eaten there a lot, and food has been great... but SIX bucks for about 20 fries is absurd. The bartender couldn't care less my complaint. When you treat customers like that they go elsewhere. Everyone else in the are charges four bucks for a decent order of fries. Food is terrific. The ONION RINGS are the big thick kind and have consistently been amazing! However, on SuperBowl Sunday, we ordered carry-out PIZZA and it was absolutely horrible, actually. Hopefully it will be back to being awesome again. It had that buttery crust. So, so good. The BEER selection is amazing! Love how they've always got Central Waters on the tap. Service: great for carry-out orders. The times we at there last summer, well, they were very short handed... Ambiance: nothing special. The bar area is cozy, but the dining room is big and open. Everything has always been clean. There's a huge deck, sand volleyball courts and a little "Beach House" for private events. I love the Chain Bar and am happy to see that they've regularly got a busy parking lot. Locally owned. I enjoy visiting local establishments, since I am a local. * I'd give them 5 stars but our last pizza experience wasn't great, and the service was very slow due to lack of staff (nothing new in this area!). read more

We have eaten here several times since moving into the area less than a year ago. Everything we had tried there has been very good. Really like their pizza too, especially the Rueben. I would call it a sports bar with better food choices. Normally we go on week nights and really appreciate Seth at the bar. Couldn't ask for better service, he was friendly the first time we stopped and makes sure we have everything we need or want. We just celebrated our 30th anniversary in the Beach House. Everyone was so impressed with the venue. It was spacious and very clean and classy. There are bathrooms on site and a fully equipped bar. The staff was unbelievably over the top helpful. They were friendly, efficient and always available to help or if I had questions. The food was fabulous. Danny the manager helped us to pick the menu and even gave us a sample meal. All of our friends and family loved it! Ordered a prime rib sandwich and it was by far the worst prime rib I've ever had in my life. It was dry, lack of flavor and full of fat. I didn't even take it home. My girlfriend ordered Mac and cheese and it was basically soup. Never will I step back in this establishment, the wings were okay though but $11.00 for a dozen small wings, they just put sauce on top. Classy. We've eaten here many times before, and was happy with our experience. However, tonight we walked out after being ignored by 2 different servers, who focused all there attention on a table of 4 seated next to us. The first server gave the other table menus, walked right by us twice, ignoring us. Then another service came over and took drink orders for that other table, walked right by us, no acknowledgment that we were sitting right next to this table. I haven't been there, but I have ordered delivery, so my review is solely based on the food. And it was gross. Delivery took at least an hour and 15 minutes. Corn dogs were overdone. Fries were crazy soggy. Chicken strips were okay. Potato salad? Meh. I ordered the Dixie burger (coleslaw, mushrooms, onions, etc.) which should have been amazing, but the burger was dry, the bun was hard as a rock, and it just ended up in the garbage. Maybe I was the last one in a long line of deliveries? I don't know. Never again, though. I'm not even sure if I would visit to eat there, after that bad food experience. read more

Tried the jambalaya too and it was delicious with a grilled shrimp that tops it and the perfect amount of kick. Service was friendly and attentive. We were visiting my father in law at the VA and were looking for a place to eat - unfortunately we stopped here. Immediate seating was good - it was a little late but not unreasonable- I ordered ribs and my wife ordered a wrap with some beef - hoping it was on the healthier side. The ribs were ok (nothing compared to TX)- they came with some fried cucumbers - which was just a conduit for grease. The wrap was terrible - it was extremely spicy but not in a good way. My wife could only eat 1/2 and I tried the other 1/2. When I tried it the beef, sauce and lettuce combined into a nasty greasy mush that was in no way close to edible. I asked her how she ate 1/2 and she said it was better earlier - before the heat wilted the lettuce. My advice drink a lot before you eat and then it may not be so bad. Great food and great craft beer! Service at times is a bit slow but that's to be expected durning the summer. If you like pizza, they have the best. It's a thin cracker like crust with just the right amount of toppings. Not to much cheese either. Plenty on the menu for everyone in the family. Pizza, burgers, wraps, or appetizers, it's all good. We went there last night. We sat down outside and waited. Another bigger party sat down and was served before us. I got up and grabbed two menu's so we could at least figure out what we wanted. We waited and the other table got drinks before we have even been approached. So I got up again and asked a server if we needed to check in somewhere before as we still haven't had anyone come to the table. Her exact words were " NO but let me warn you to not just take menus or else we'll think you have been helped" and she walked away. Now I'm furious. How dare she talk to me that way? I was never rude. So who ever owns this place the waitress in the black striped dress with dark hair is absolutely rude! So I go sit back down and tell my dad what she just told me and he was shocked as well. We've been coming here for years and never had a bad experience. So a few minutes later our waitress came and thankfully it was not the rude one. She apologized for the wait she was training. Totally fine. I get that. We ordered and got our drinks fast. She forgot one but ok, she's training. Then our dinner took 30 minutes to get out! We we're one of three tables there and there were only three guys at the bar. So why was it taking this long?? By the time we sat and the food came out it was almost an hour! We had nothing big. One burger, Jambalaya, and macaroni and cheese. Nothing that would take a half an hour to make. At the end our waitress was the only bright point in the evening so thank you, Alexis. You were very sweet. Wish it ended there. Three hours after we left I'm throwing up, I had the mushroom Swiss burger. I have food poisoning. My dad, I didn't know till this morning was also sick. He had the jambalaya. A-OK is exactly what the judges thought of the Chain O' Lakes Bar & Grill's wings. They were very average. It was as if they went straight to the Piggly Wiggly and purchased Great Value wings and Great Value buffalo sauce. The wings were tough to pull off the bone and the sauce was extremely salty. Not really any spice. They were average buffalo wings and not bad if you pay 50 cents a wing on wing night Mondays. We scored them an average of 5/10. read more

I have been ordering from the Chain O'Lakes bar and grill since they opened. The delivery time is never less than 45 minutes and usually closer to an hour and a half. Everytime I order, something on the order is messed up. After discussing this with staff I was told "If they can't meet my expectations then perhaps I should order from someplace else". I am local and play volleyball there during the summer. The service is horrible. If you are planning for a delivery or dining in planning on a 2 hour wait for your food after your ordered it to start eating. This goes for just getting appetizers. And expect it to look like it's been under the heat lamp for a long while. If you get the head waitress, she's awesome and is timely with everything. ..but if you don't get her...hope you don't have to be anywhere soon...aka...within the next 2 hours. Even if there are a handful of tables occupied, it still takes a LONG time for food.....The reason for only one star is for the head waitress.
