This place has changed ownership since this information/photos were posted! There is NO lodge, the roads a failing and full of Pot Holes. Most cabins are in ruins. Management is unavailable/non existence to address situations in the park. Communication is via email with no contact list to call. The lakes are full of moss and algae. Who owns this and runs it.......no one seems to know. The entire place has run down. Most of the photos here are many many years old. Not sure where some of the people stayed that post on this site......but, in diffidently isn't the place described.......or they day dream when they are there! read more

My first and last reservation with Thousands trailers was a disappointment and waste of time. We recently purchased a travel trailer, and during our first 9 day trip, we encountered an older lady with burgundy hair at the gate/desk that was extremely rude and disrespectful for no reason. When my spouse called her out on it, she expressed that for all to hear. Made it loud and clear that members and others make reservations months in advance. And for us to make a same day reservation on our phone isn't possible. For those that haven't been hear before, like myself, let me advise you on how it works. Trails and KOA share this campground. Depending on whom you made reservation with, is whom you check in with upon arrival. After talking to a KOA manager we both agreed to refunding the reservation. No other employee was surprised about her demeanor towards us, and one suggested we should report her and referred us to another site. After leaving, I noticed similar reviews from travelers that attempted to stay on short notice (but wasn't welcomed), even with a reservation. We tried LAKES IN THE PINES next. It was a reason the burgundy hair lady was rude. LAKES IN THE PINES campsite is a garden of eden. We enjoyed the quiet nights with glow bugs and not so quite nature. Dogs loved the walks, and other patrons was so nice. Upon arrival a patron took the time to show us the camp ground and called host for us. Host was friendly and welcoming to our walk-in at have the price of the burgundy hair lady. We decided to stay an extra day. read more

I don't know why people call this camping? It's basically a parking lot, with a few trees mixed in. The facilities are minimal at best, and almost every faucet and toilet in the bathroom leaks. There aren't garbage cans anywhere, and you have to drag everything to a centralized location. The one staff member we met was ridiculously rude, and we couldn't tell if it was a man or a woman. He/she was supposed to take us to our spot, and when we approached there was someone already set up on our spot. We had to move, and nothing was done about the other people who just set up wherever they felt like. The people here are overall just terrible. No one follows the rules. No one has respect for other people. Pedestrians and vehicles have to share the same roads, and if you're a pedestrian, let me tell you, you better keep your head on a swivel. Don't try and go to bed before 2 AM, or you'll just keep getting woken up by loud music or loud people. I'll never stay here again. read more

Once you enter the tight security at the gates, it's full on Wild West party time. None of the rules of the campground are enforced. It's just a giant party for all the locals. They speed up and down on golf carts constantly. The lake is full of duck moss, it is not maintained, pot holes everywhere. Our site was a new area for thousand trails, it was a small gravel patch, no fire pit or picnic table provided. No walking trails just a golf cart interstate that goes until 2 am. Will not be returning!! read more

Nice campground, was a pool, basketball court, volleyball court and a golf course can all there and a good sizes lake.

Very clean and quiet area. I have camped many places over they years ranging from the redwoods to small state parks and luxury camps. I did not experience any parties or golf cart races as one poster said. It was very quiet and everyone was respectful of the space. I stayed in a cabin that was well stocked with your kitchen basics and it had linens on the beds and towels un the bathroom. The AC in the bedroom needs replacing as does the mattress. The gate is keyed with an access card you get upon arrival. read more

Worst camping experience of my life. We get to the campground and they don't "reserve" you a spot. They give you a map and say GO FIND A SPOT. Well guess what! There were little to no spots available. The one spot that our 30 foot RV would fit in, the electric did not work. The camp site next to us was grass and no on was there so we plugged into that electric. Guess what happened next OMG! So many more campers were trying to find spots, they would stop at the grass open space and come knock on our door and say "you're in the wrong electric." After having explained to them the issue with NO SPACE, and the ELECTRIC DIDN'T WORK, they moved on. We reported the electric issue to the office and they said it wouldn't be fixed until Monday. Two more times we had people knocking on our door telling us we were plugged into the wrong electric. The dogs were going crazy, we were so frustrated that we packed up and left. It wasn't camping either. The spaces were right on top of one another with no picnic table, the electric box was rusted and the water was 50 feet away from the electric. They had no sewage hookups at all. I would give them negative stars if it were allowed. I paid $800 for a membership to a hellish experience. Thousand Trails if you read this, I want a refund of my membership fees. read more

I generally do not post many reviews on Facebook. I am however extremely upset about the way that the campground we frequent often is treating my sister. This was supposed to be our second year as thousand trails members. We have camped solely at Indian lakes except for one trip to a different campground. We had even discussed possibly becoming permanent campers after this season. We've dealt with the campgrounds crumbling fire pits, electrical issues in zone B, no picnic tables and MAJOR potholes. Per Brian at the park they do not have enough picnic tables for all of the sites. And that's fine. We've worked around it even though the site says you get an actual fire pit and picnic table. We've dealt with the occasional attitude from the occasional employee. And even the rudeness from Brian over assuming that the online check in instructions you received meant you wouldn't have to check in again when you arrived. All of that was dealt with because the campground is so close. But unfortunately we no longer will be giving our business not only to Indian Lakes but also to thousand trails. We reserved our usual (3) RV spots for our families and my sister also reserved an 8 person cabin. We were told that the 4 person cabins were booked but realized over the weekend that they were not. We planned to have an EXTREMELY SMALL get together for our two kids who had recently graduated. We had the get together at the cabin. We figured it would allow us to cook inside and have everyone be able to safely be outside. On Sunday morning we packed everything up and COMPLETELY cleaned the cabin. I mean COMPLETELY. The dishes were done and put away. The counters were wiped off. The garbage taken out. We even wiped down the inside of the fridge. The only thing left was the towels needing to be washed and garbage cans given new bags. A few days later my sister noticed a charge of $399 from TT on her card. She called and was told that it was an excessive cleaning fee and smoking fee. Shocked she said that wasn't possible. We didn't smoke in the cabin and it was extremely clean. She was told she would need to contact IL. She called IL and was told that garbage was left all over the cabin and that it had been smoked in. She said no way. We cleaned everything and nobody smoked. The women then decided to say that there was confetti in the grass in the backyard of the cabin. We did have some confetti in the backyard. But there was also confetti in the yard when we arrived so we didn't think it was an issue. My sister asked for proof of the garbage and smoke issues. The women was unable to provide any. She said she needed to speak to management then. She waited for a few days with no call back and then began calling again. She had to leave vms and messages again for two days. Finally she said if she did not receive a call back by 3pm she would be taking this further. Finally Brian decided to return her call. From jump he was on 10. He said that the fee would not be removed. That upon entering the cabin the cleaning crew smelled an ashtray smell. That they called management and management smelled it too. Here is where I'm confused at first. ANYONE who knows us and has EVER been around us, to one of our homes, one of our parties or ANYTHING have you ever smelled an ashtray smell ?!?!NO. She disputed it with him. Explained how clean we left the place. He didn't care. She asked if it was possible that people lied because they were upset over confetti in the grass(even though confetti was already there). He became more upset. Asked if she was calling his cleaning crew liars. She said she was. Because nobody smoked in that cabin. He didn't care. He said even if the cabin hadn't been smoked in that the cleaning fee was a flat fee and that it was still being charged over confetti. Confetti. Yes there was confetti in the grass. There was also confetti when we arrived. My sister explained the steps she would be taking then if he didn't refund the money. He said he wouldn't be. Becky called a little later and attempted to speak to him. He said he couldn't discuss other people's business with her. She asked if she could call Heather on 3way to give the ok. He said this is pointless and HUNG UP ON HER !! So we are done. No more Indian lakes camping for us. No more busted and broken fire pits.... no more unfortunately we don't have enough picnic tables... no more rude camping with Brian.... and that is fine. We can drive for a better experience. We will be fighting the charge though. And we will be making sure that every person is aware of how they handle things there. Realistically our cancelled memberships with Thousand Trails won't break the bank. BUT we will be making sure that TT is aware of all of the issues that the campground has. Some of which has been going on since last year. Formal complaints will be made. read more

Save your money and go somewhere else. No assigned spots.... 1st come 1st served.... Not all sights are gravel pads.... minimum and if it has rained you will get stuck. Requested a full hook up ... This will be the last year we stay here. Some of the staff is absolutely rude, especially the reddish haired lady in the guard shack. Their gate card system works part time, then suddenly when they do turn it on and someone arrives, the lady at the guard shack says its not her problem and that she was getting ready to go have a smoke so we need to wait until she gets back to get in? Crime is going through the roof. This place is not what it used to be. The amenities are nice, and the grounds are decent, but it has created enough demand for the place that the employees and management no longer care how they treat people. read more

This was my families first time camping at this campground. It was very clean camp staff was friendly. The bathrooms and showers was clean and there was hot water. Great place ! Definitely bee staying there again. However the bathroom was extremely warm could use some kind of ventilation for hot air. But overall very happy with our stay at Indian Lake. read more

We had a family reunion here (35+ people) and it was great! Most of us stayed in the cabins. Enjoyed the pool, the playgrounds, the mini golf course and the lake. Staff was very responsive and the grounds were well kept. The campground was completely full, but it was not too loud or crazy after hours. Would definitely recommend. read more

This place is TERRIBLE . We were on the road for several hours and needed to stop for the night. We pull in around 530pm. The beast of a woman was so rude and threw paper work at is and told us just take any one of the sites. We said we need a full hookup. She said in a discussed matter "anyone just take anyone of the sites. We drove in and looked around. The roads were not paved, the sites not numbered clearly. The place was terrible, we looked through the whole place, we couldn't find a site at all, not to mention one with full hookups. We went to the office and the woman was getting into her car to leave . We went up to her and said there are no sites available. she said I told you any site there has to be one there and she left. We decided to leave and check into a hotel. read more
