I've taken classes with Kip, Kelly S., Kelly C., Anjali, Sonia, Judy, Matt, and Lisa and even though their styles are all COMPLETELY different, I loved every class in a different way. Your first class is free so you can try it out without having to pay. Most of the classes are 90 minutes but some are only an hour if you're looking for something shorter. Single classes are $18 each but if you purchase packages online, you save 5%. In addition, they also offer student/senior deals on TOP of that so it truly pays to book online! My 6-class package came out to $68. My only complaint is that on hot days, it gets HOT in there. I've done hot yoga before, but this is a little different: it's just stuffy, humid, and uncomfortable. I'm not sure if they don't have A/C or just choose not to use it but if you're planning on going in the summer, dress lightly and bring a headband and towel. The Ramsey location has an overhead fan. They also have a brand new GORGEOUS location in Chestnut Ridge, although the air situation is comparable (and no overhead fan). It's also next door to a coffee shop and the walls are VERY thin, however, the coffee is great!

I haven't had the pleasure of taking class with every teacher who works at both this location and the Chestnut Ridge location, but the instructors that I have taken (Judy, Alane, Lisa, Rose, Tenley, Trish, Kelly S.) are lovely individuals, and incredibly knowledgeable. The latter is evident in not only the way they guide you, but the way they can move their bodies. It's so inspirational. I'm sure the rest of the teachers are no different. Recently they've decided to add a Pilates class, taught by the fabulous Ms. Anjali and I couldn't be happier! While this is a yoga studio, I think it was such a phenomenal idea to introduce Pilates into the weekly schedule. I'm crossing my fingers that in the near future I'll see this class offered more than once a week!

The studio space is massive compared to others in the area and extremely clean. As soon as you walk in you feel welcomed by all. The entire vibe of the studio is incredibly inviting and not something I have ever experienced before in other studios in Bergen county. It feels like a true community of great people with no judgment. Rachel the owner is wonderful. She is so sweet and extremely experienced in her practice and makes a point to learn who all her students are. Giving relaxing, yet unique and strong classes. I try my best to catch her classes when I can. Erica is also incredible. Her classes are vibrant and fun, while providing a true yoga experience with dharma, guided breath work and movement at your pace. They offer many classes throughout the week, mainly heated vinyasa. I've never taken a class with an instructor I didn't like. All staff is extremely kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The studio is always very clean and well kept. Super zen vibe the moment you walk in. I prefer this studio to the Mahwah location, but they're both very inviting. Highly recommend this studio for challenging flows and great mind-body connection. I appreciate how the classes here aren't "workout" focused as a lot of other studios are. You definitely sweat, but the main intention of the class is to move with your breath and do actual yoga!

They have a variety of classes for beginners and advanced practitioners alike, and at every class I go to they offer modifications or add-ons to poses so that you can really adjust to what your body needs that day. The studio is incredibly clean and beautifully maintained. Walking into the studio puts me at ease immediately. There are also zero judgments at Blackbird. At other studios I felt judged if I couldn't go into a headstand or some other inversion, and there is none of that at Blackbird. It is an encouraging environment, which is so perfect for yoga. The studio also offers workshops outside of the regular classes if you want to delve into your practice a little deeper. Another thing I noticed is how at every class, even if it is the same type of class, it is never exactly the same. There is always variety. I've been practicing yoga for two years now and in the few months that I started at Blackbird I saw a noticeable improvement in my practice. There are poses that I thought I would never be able to do or hold for more than a breath that I now do with ease. It's really amazing. Another great thing about Blackbird, especially for NYC commuters like myself, is that they have evening classes! I'm able to go to work, get home and not have to rush like a crazy person to get to class on time. It's rad. For everything that Blackbird offers, the price is amazing too.
