It's a rare thing indeed to find service excellence at an affordable price in any field. When you find it in car care for a foreign vehicle, it needs to be celebrated and shared. That's the experience I had with Indian Trail Imports and particularly with Josh. I commute once a week from Jacksonville, FL to Charlotte. My go to mechanic is at Jax Beach. I was traveling to CLT and the suspension in my 2012 X5 BMW (beloved Inge is her name) failed while I was driving on the highway. It felt like driving a stage coach on a rough road. I made it here and the issue continued to get worse. Not wanting to get ripped off by the dealership and needing to get her fixed quickly so I could return home, I started searching every source for a reliable, affordable, fast foreign mechanic shop. The top of the top ten based on raving reviews and checking for the fewest poor reviews was Indian Trail Imports. I called on a Thursday afternoon and asked if they could possibly fit me in on Friday morning. I explained my issue and they said they would do everything they could. I picked up a rental thinking it could be days. Friday afternoon Josh called and said they figured out the problem. A suspension bag had collapsed. They gave me a VERY fair price and I said DO IT! Josh called back to say it was ready. As I was driving to drop off the rental, he called to say it looked to be sagging on the fixed side. They were going back in. As we say in the Army, attention to detail! The air line had been chewed by rodents. Not having a part they improvised a fix to secure the line so I could get home and get it fixed. He also let me know that I should keep an eye on my front suspension and educated me on what to be aware of and the range of costs to fix it. The next day, on a Saturday, he called to check if I made it home and if everything was running correctly. Come on people, is this guy for real??? Yep! I have been taking our 1995 BMW To Josh for years. Why? Honesty great people and fantastic work. In all of my years we have never had a mechanic that has been so honest polite personable and all around fantastic. Rod upfront is such a nice guy and all of the people there are great. I have recommended this place to hundreds of people over the years. Whether it's a BMW or any foreign car this business is beyond 5 stars. Pricing is fantastic. When you take your car here the one thing you'll never have to worry about is getting ripped off for repairs you don't need. To many times I've taken my car in and Josh didn't charge me because he said it was under warranty or it was just a little tweak. I've since added my son's Mercedes C300 along with my own SClass and I don't have to tell you the vehicles have never run better or more consistent. I've been bringing my ML320 here since 2012 and they always do a great job. I have had some issues on & off with the check engine light, a leaky transmission, and a slow oil leak that I have been putting off. I finally decided that it was time to take care of all of these items so I took my vehicle in yesterday. I appreciate the fact that they stop & give you the cost of parts & labor before proceeding to make sure you are authorizing the repairs. Also, if they find something else going on under the hood that you are not aware of, they tell you about that and whether it is something that is critical or safety related. Or if it is just something to be aware of & keep a watch on. They do a great job & warrant their repairs. Josh & the others are very experienced and very professional. They will not try to get you to make unnecessary repairs. The repairs I have had here are not cheap, but the parts are very fairly priced and labor services here cost far less than the Mercedes dealership. At the end of the day, I feel that they are honest and trustworthy, which is rare these days in automotive shops! read more

I decided to "try out" Indian Trail Imports because of their Yelp ratings -- all five stars! And my decision to trust those ratings was smart. I had a 2006 VW Jetta GLI with a check engine light. I knew from previous experience that this car could be a challenge. What followed was a surprising experience. The first solution did resolve the check engine light, but it quickly returned -- which took a good bit more investigation by Josh. While he had the car, his communication was excellent and thorough -- if you really want to know all about your car, he will tell you in great detail. The final solution to the problem was not simple, but he did find it, and when all was done, he actually under-charged me -- I definitely did not pay for all of the time he spent working on my car -- and he and his team went way above and beyond to ensure that the problem was completely resovled! Honesty in car repair is a rare quality! Finding someone you can trust to work on your car, knowing that you're getting top quality service without being scammed and without paying for unnecessary service, is even rarer. But, Indian Trail Imports provides all of that and more: Quality, honesty, and complete transparency are what you will get when you trust them with your car service needs. This was my very first time using Indian Trail Imports. But, it will not be my last. I will now trust them with all of my non-warranty car service needs, forever. If more people were like these people, the auto repair industry wouldn't have such a bad reputation. I called this place on a whim (honestly based on the high reviews) in desperation bc two other auto shops couldn't solve my problem and this was a last ditch effort to find a solution before buying a new car. They didn't have immediate availability but were able to squeeze me in a few days later. My problem ended up only costing $211 to fix and my car now runs perfectly. They are very educated, trustworthy, and great at communication. They also quoted me $325 to fix a non-mechanical, yet annoying problem with the steering wheel that had previously been quoted by another local shop at over $1200. Their pricing is beyond reasonable. As long as we are in the area, all of our vehicles will be coming here when they are "sick". read more

I almost let another auto shop trick me into spending 3500.00 for a whole new engine. When I took it to Indian Trail imports. They assured me that I did not need a new engine but rather a new radiator and the cost was only around 500. Josh also called me the next morning and talked me through everything that was going on with my car, the cost and what he has done to figure it out. I felt very educated about the process in fixing my car and knew I could trust this company right away. It is refreshing to work with Indian Trail, as they will attempt to find the best and lowest-cost solution and fully explain their thought processes, as opposed to dealerships, who will give you with a huge quote without the same explanation. Indian Trail recently saved me over a thousand dollars when compared to the Mercedes Dealership quote for an expensive repair on my C250, even after they tried some lower cost alternatives to help me avoid to work entirely. Well let me first say thank god for leading us to this place. Everyone within 100 miles of Indian Trail Auto Imports needs to get their vehicles repaired here. Josh and the entire shop is fantastic. My wife and I have know Josh for years and have had him work on vehicles but now that he owns the business the service, the quality of work and most of all the cost of his work is absolutely impeccable. The world would be a better place with honest, sincere mechanics who are not out to rip you off and do garbage work. We have a BMW who Hendrick Motors in Charlotte , NC said the motor was gone and wanted to charge us for a new engine, after towing it to Josh's shop he did a thorough check on it , flushed the engine of the old oil and without going on to long with to many details the car is back up and running and better than it ever has and he saved us thousands of dollars by doing so. We take all of our vehicles there and they actually stop what they are doing to help us. Highly recommend! Heather, Josh and their staff have impressed me thoroughly. I typically perform routine general maintenance on my own car but have had 2 recent incidents in which they were fantastic. First i had a check engine light come on after I replaced a cooling system component and cranked the car before one final thermostat sensor connection was done. I needed the light reset after the connection was made. Josh met me as I drove in, confirmed indeed was just the connection issue, replaced the under pan I requested and even checked the components that had been replaced. Was on my way in 15 minutes. Second instance car for the first time wouldn't start despite several attempts. Called to tell them was to be towed in and they even had me set up for loaner car so I wouldn't have to obtain a rental car. Spoke w Heather who was extremely helpful. Car Cranked on one last try. Drove it right over to have them just check it out for anything obvious. Again Joshua came right out. No error codes but had few possibilities based upon our discussion. Cleaned mass air flow sensor, showed me how to do it, discussed things to monitor on my type vehicle and I was on my way within a few minutes. He didn't need to keep it to continue to monitor it/charge me for continued evaluation. No subsequent issues. It's nice to have someone who combines technical knowledge with common sense. Having recently moved here from Chicago, we were looking for an independent repair shop to handle the maintenance on our vehicles. Found Indian Trail Imports through Yelp and was impressed with all the five star reviews. The reviews are accurate! Heather was delightful over the phone and she promptly emailed me a detailed quote for the 40k service on our 2013 VW Beetle. Dropped the car off Thursday around 3pm and was immediately impressed that their facility was immaculately clean and that classic rock was blaring. They provided me with a Volvo SUV as a loaner (what a great service) at no charge and the next day the car was ready at around 2pm. Josh is a very cool, down-to-earth, no BS guy, and again, Heather is just super sweet and efficient. The bill was exactly what had been quoted, and, coming from Chicago, let me tell you, very very reasonable. This place just has an honest, very positive vibe and we will be bringing our cars here for everything. It doesn't get any better than this. I cant say enough about josh and his team. I brought my car in for a couple things with one major issue. He diagnosed the problems, ordered the parts and we set up a time for the following day. He was very upfront about cost and time it would take to do the job. I wish more people were this transparent. So I showed up the next day , a little early as well. he came out, we talked for 20 minutes just getting to know each other, what a great guy. He says your parts are already here, just waiting for one to be delivered, lets go ahead and start , pulls it in, gets going the part shows up on cue, ready to go in. Puts it all back together, runs great. Then goes out of his way on his time to try and fix a silly thing that is just annoying and has nothing to do with the safe operation of the car.
